She is a treasure. She sounds great in a full band, acoustic, or accapella setting. She does what she wants. It is evident in her documentary called Once Aurora. She fights with her management and record label to produce music she wants instead of making music for the radio. In it, she states that she doesn’t want to make a radio song and that she would be happy making music for the fans she already has because she has a real connection with them. Since then, her following has grown by leaps and bounds. Welcome to the wonderful world of Aurora.

A lot of people are recommending the Nidaros Cathedral concert, which is quite amazing, and you should definitely go there! However, I was equally impressed by her more recent concert that took place in a forest (HAIK Concert, 2019). Also her performance at The Current and at KEXP in Iceland (where Bjork was in the audience). Her music video of "The Seed" is also quite brilliant! She's done great covers of Arianna Grande's "God is a Woman" and Imagine Dragon's " believer as well as John Lennon's "Across the Universe". But, she has written some beautiful, moving and sometimes dark songs which will absolutely blow you away. Anything from her live at Nidorosdomen Concert is a must. This is the only song I am aware of in which she said she wish she had written it herself...but she went on to say that perhaps it belongs to all of us. I do think it is why she sings it as if it is her own...with a very different approach from David's....and yet, it doesn't take away from Bowie's expression....it just presents her own expression that, in my opinion, begs us to give another listen to the same words of the same song.....to see and hear it in a different way.....and I think that's a pretty wonderful definition of artistry....and why she is able to transport us to a different place even though it's a familiar song with familiar words. She takes us to a different place....and she makes us want to travel with her in the future....wherever she is going seems to be a great journey to take.....and she has many who have joined her journey.

You must watch Aurora when she is singing and dancing as she is so unique. As you said she has a little bit of Bjork but I would also add Kate Bush with a hint of Tori Amos.

Oh wow, I’ve been a longtime fan of Aurora and watching you react to her for the first time has made me emotional!!! You’ve earned a new subscriber, thank you! I would recommend listening to her own music also, she is massively underrated!

Yes, you nailed it!! AURORA is allways telling a story with her songs... In the eyes of a child, the river.. You cannot miss that.. And just enjoy every song she sings...

She has learned her English with an actual English, not American accent. But it is studded with Irish at many points.

A beautiful interpretation. She made a new song of an old one. Superb cover of this Bowie song.

I enjoyed the insightful analysis of her vocal skills and the heartfelt admiration for her artistry. What's really great is that you so rightly deduced that she sings what she feels without concern for whether it's radio ready or fits pop trends or the expectations of others. The documentary Once Aurora which you can find in translation on Reddit shows her rebellion against industry types to preserve the purity of her art. There is much more to Aurora than covers and I would hope you explore her original songs and live performances (as others have noted the December 2017 Nidaros Cathedral concert highlights both and is a good place to start).

What a great documentary that is. And you and Ken are quite right, Aurora didn't become a performer to seek mass approbation, but because her mother told her that if Aurora's music could help one other person it would be wrong to keep it to herself. How freeing that must be for Aurora, and how right her mother was.

This is gorgeous. I love her covers, but I adore her original music. I strongly recommend The Seed (live from the HAIK concert), Through the Eyes of a Child (Stripped, VEVO Version), Murder Song (Nobel Peace Price concert), It Happened Quiet, or any of them really :)

So glad you made a reaction to Aurora! And that you liked her 🌺 She has so much wonderful stuff for you to react to. A pure soul, angelic voice and amazing songwriter and live performer. One of those artists who are even better live. One of my favourite Norwegian artists

I love how she so effortlessly transitions from the head voice purity of a church chorister to the hearty chest voice of a Bulgarian shepherdess all within one phrase.

The look of utter euphoria on your face when she sang "Mars". I understand that feel, man. My first song from her was "Running with the Wolves". I am also a huge Bowie fan, and hearing this just made me utterly transfixed with it. You should also totally listen to her version of "Teardrop", which is incredible.

Hahah, I almost love watching vocal coaches react to Aurora as much as I love Aurora. I always just wait for *that* certain reaction that everyone gets. I´m lucky to live in the same city as her and be able to see her live 4-5 times a year! (not in 2020 though...)
