This is not so much Aurora doing a cover of a song and more like "I think I will give this little audience a Master-class in musical story-telling tonight".

Utterly mesmerising
Her cover of Across the Universe was the first time I ever saw Aurora or heard her perform (she plays the keys on that one too). I was instantly and utterly captivated, and have been ever since. It's the only cover of a Beatles song - anywhere, any time, by anybody - that I consider better than the original, and that's one of my favorite Beatles songs. She is a phenomenal artist and an extraordinary human being.
I actually cannot seem to watch this enough times. It is beyond greatness. I tried to think of a single time I heard a Bowie song re-made- where I thought it was a better rendition. I couldn't. Excepting this.
Aurora just has that X factor. An old musical soul for sure. This song is not easy but she manages to really put her own signature on it both instrumentally and vocally.
Sometimes an artist comes along and when you hear them for the first time they simply blow you away this happened to me nearly 7 year’s ago when by chance I heard a young girl singing a song on a tv advert, the song was an oasis track called Half the world away and the artist of course was Aurora. For me this was the start of a journey with the most amazing and talented singer songwriter I’ve ever heard since then I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Aurora’s live performances 3 times and trust me she is without doubt the best live performer I’ve ever seen. Never has anyone moved my emotions like this young girl the love that she has for her music her songs her little children as she likes to call them is spellbinding and truly just like her mother said a medicine for everyone. Aurora simply is the essence of what the art of music should be all about with a catalog of songs filled with lyrics that makes you think deeply about life and the world we live in. At my age of 66 I’m truly blessed to have her music in my life. Aurora you are a Genius ❤️
Aurora is a music genius, as David Bowie was, at least in his early days. She never disappoints.
This is a magical elven spell. There is so much to listen to in this masterpiece. But that who strikes me the most is her pausing technic and storytelling abilities. No artist of today do it better.

Have your heard her do Murder Song?
I wish Bowie could have heard this rendition!! :O
The slow sad way she sings this, I think, is reflective of the passing of David Bowie at that time and works very well and is a great tribute.
I have not seen another artist who has the level of musical intuition, knowing exactly what to do and when to ensure that a rendition of a song uniquely excels, as Aurora possesses. She even does it with the different slants that she puts on her own songs. I think that we simply must appreciate that Aurora is beyond excellent with every aspect of her musical abilities. As so many of her fans say, Aurora is the embodiment of one of her album titles, she really is "A Different Kind Of Human".
Lovely reaction🤗 Aurora takes this song to another level, you really pay attention to the lyrics, so beautiful ❤️ Aurora found an old electric piano in the attic when she was 6 years old, and the power button was broken so she had to keep pressing it in with one hand and play with the other 😳 And at that age she started writing music without lyrics, she added lyrics (English) at the age of 9. She’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano, and her family didn’t know about her talent until she was about 14 years old ❤️
Extraterrestrial. Wish David Bowie was around to hear this. It's so appropriate for her to sing this one. It almost sounds like a music box playing. This brought on tears and feelings of nostalgia. Aurora has such a way of adding fairy dust on everything she touches. I'm so grateful that artists like this exist. She totally "gets it".

She said she wept upon hearing of Bowie's passing. I think that more than most other artists she and Bowie think outside the box and refuse to be pigeon holed and both refuse to be kept from exploring.
Utter perfection. Chills all over, hairs standing up. The talent to sound live this perfect. Each note so very well placed, either by her voice or on the Fender Rhodes. Two instruments that captivate me for each millisecond of this ride.
Aurora was the first modern artist that I fell in love with. She was able to make me listen to non-heavy metal music.
I heard this interpretation of Aurora as the final soundtrack of an Italian film and I immediately liked it. Good! Greetings from Milan, Italy
Might be the best cover of all time. Such a masterpiece
It's unreal, for sure. She found the thread of it, and it's such a _song_ that even the original kind of hid the complexity. Goosebumps, every time.
She is the only artist I know of that can take a classic rock song and make it sound like a lullaby on a toy piano WOW WOW WOW, I sort of zoned out there for six minutes. I have heard Bowies version hundreds of times but with her I think I have finally got the meaning of the song. Thankyou awesome reaction keep them coming.
“I wasn’t sure if it was going to be good”. Ha ha. Just remember it’s Aurora. Lots of covers by her to react to sometime.

Can you imagine how The Duke would have taken it if he would have been around watiching Aurora cover his beautiful song, and dunno if you know, David was very intense and espontaneous and very emotional...I can imagine for sure. She is so fucking good OMG Aurora is certainly not from this world she's unique and absolutely insanely cute!
Pure perfection... can't get any better!
How anyone could take such a standard and somehow make it their own while still being faithful to the original is beyond me. What a stunning performance. My latest best loved song.

When she sang this at the Nidarosdomen concert she admitted that she wished she had written this song....and then goes on to say that perhaps it belongs to all of us. She certainly shares it with us as if it were her own and, again, commands our attention in the way only she can do....great reaction. I love that I am still so surprised by many things that you say.

Great reaction! First time I heard Aurora sing this I immediately understood every word to the song. I had heard Bowie sing it 100's of time if not more. She grabs your attention and pulls you right into the journey of the song! The piano complimented the way she performed the song with perfection!
I was going to see her live for the first time in june last year, in her home town Bergen. I have seen EVERYTHING on tv and youtube, and eaven read intervjues in newspaper... I was so ready, and I knew what it would be like..... I was VERY wrong...... Within the first song she had made me look like a dork.... Standing there with my mouth open, slightly blue in my face, she made me forget to breathe.... I could not beleve it... She was eaven better than I had expected! I don't know to explain it.. It was like having looked at a video of a wonderful fireplace, but nothing can compare to actually sit in front of it and feel it! It felt like she played to a group of old friends...... My next concert was in Arendal, and this time I really knew what she was going to be like, so I was delighted to have my wife and 16yo son with me.... I was wrong again! She was eaven better! The third concert was in Oslo, this time I knew I don't know anything 😂. This time I found out that she actually is human..... She was not feeling 100% ok, and she told us..... But compare to anybody else she is in a league of her own.... At the Aurora scale: Bergen was 9 of 10, Arendal 10, Oslo "only" 7, 5. Other concert in 2022: A-ha 5, and Sigrid 7,5. I can't wait, in july she is coming to Kongsberg, only 20 minutes from where I live!

Always a joy watching people react to Aurora. Your reaction to this (very much Aurora) version is pretty much how i reacted to it years ago watching it live on Norwegian TV (NRK) (the "talk" show this is taken from). She got an amazing clear voice she controls perfectly, but its how she preform that really get me.
Her cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack for like a version is just like this...phenomenal and plays the piano for that too, it's outstanding. She never ceases to amaze me! She also does a cover of Scarborough Fair and Thank you by Alanis Morrisette
I really wish I could bang the like button for you every time I watch this. You are the best reactor to Aurora, IMO, because of your background in the business. You are not a cookie cutter reactor and she is not a cookie cutter artist.

Exactly what I was thinking. Her patience with this was great.
I have the impression that your camera was for a moment as emotional as you were. You held back the tears, but your eyes got a little watery. Her story with the piano is very interesting. She thinks she doesn't play very well. There is even a video of her giving a concert where she makes mistakes and apologizes in public. But that's Aurora... I mean .... the end result of what she does is far beyond the sum of all her talents, because she's almost excellent, but in everything. The result is just perfect. Perfect, but yet human. Maybe that's her key: she touches our humanity at the deepest level. I knew I was going to love this reaction, I knew that this performance was exceptional and that you could only see it, feel it... And I was not disappointed. It was beautiful. Her, you, the reaction... This was really a very good moment.

You picked a Great one! Your facial expressions pretty well summed it all up! She is definitely on another level.
When I listen to music I tend to focus on melody rather than lyrics. I DID like Bowie's Life on Mars, the melody is beautiful. This one made me hear the lyrics, and I just crumbled inside. The delicacy of Auroras voice and interpretation, and the genius of Bowies songwriting blew me away. This was a wonderful reaction, and on point. Thank you, Steve (and Flight gamer:). Thanks for this message Tassilago!
It's like she's saying: "I don't think you were really listening. Here, let me show you what Bowie actually meant", and then goes on to blow my mind with not just a rendition, but a version so original it's basically a *new* "Life On Mars".
Yea, what I can say. Maybe that I totally agree and it is just amazing and beautiful cover also with attention on lyrics and great storytelling. And for sure thank you for another very interesting reaction :) Ps. She plays instruments even if it not her "specialization". She learned to play when was a child just by herself without any help (just experimenting). Also as far I know when she is home she often make her music with piano.

OMG :) I love your reaction. I think your appreciation for Aurora is really growing, even more. Like so many have said, she could read the phone book and it would be awesome :)
What a great rection, thank you. I felt as I could expirience this performance like the first time again -a lot of emotions. Her covers are unreal for the most part. I love Leonhard Cohens "favorite Raincoat" and the performance of "Nature Boy" in the Netherlands, when someone from the Audience wishes the song, and she sponteaniously sings it acapella.
Brilliant. She's so very young at this point - incredible, so artistic. To perform this intricate of an arrangement is so brave! And yes, as you say, to sing and play piano with the phrasing that she delivers is impressive. Thanks for your excellent reaction, Steve.

I know, Steve. Best six minutes.
Such a special talent. I am a HUGE Bowie fan and it takes an enormous amount of talent to hold a candle to his work. She has… dare I say… surpassed the original in some ways. I think Mr. Bowie would be a huge fan of hers. It’s sad to know they’ll never collaborate because what a thing that would be! But we’re blessed to live in a time where we can appreciate the talents of both artists, one showing admiration for the other. What a performance. I was right there with you. This one just attacked the emotions. Such a captivating soul. She does SO MUCH with so little. I can’t wrap my head around it. She’s profound.
this song is so right for her becaue it's surreal and she understands what it means so I don't think it's a different vibe it's the same vibe made differently and masterfully and in her own original way. Other people never really understood this song she does.
haha, great reaction as usual :) ... So, what about a full month of Aurora instead of just one week ? ;P ... there's certainly enough material to cover that, I can tell you ;)

Haha! If I had the time. But there are so many great artists that deserve the time too. I’m prepping a Dirty Loops week soon.
Saw that live on Norwegian television. Then turned off the tv and went to bed feeling the universe being in balance. Slept like a baby.
Awesome reaction! I really enjoyed that one! Funny, Aurora is always talking about how much she sucks on the keys, but I think that's because she doesn't play them a lot (except when writing). Obviously, when she prepares, she is really, really good. That is indeed probably the best I've ever seen her play. It's absolutely beautiful, and perfectly suited to her vocal arrangement. Perhaps on your own time, you should also watch her Howard Stern and Nidarosdomen performances of this song. She doesn't play the keys on either one, but they're arguably better (or at least different) vocally. With her only having to concentrate on her vocals, she conveys a lot more emotion than she does in this performance. And I know it's probably too late for Aurora week, but I'd love to see you react to her cover of Rasputin at some point. If you want to see Aurora take a song and turn it completely upside down to make it her own, that's the one to see! kzread.info/dash/bejne/eouYwbBmadGdfrA.html

Aurora is amazing at changing cover songs and making them completely her own: "Aurorarising" them, so you would think they were hers, if you didn't know. This is the best version of this cover, but there is another version from the Howard Stern show which is also great, and one from the cathedral (Nidarosdomen), but in those 2 versions she does not play the piano herself. She also "Aurorarises" these songs: Imagine Dragons - Believer youtu . be / 1SlHa4_phuo Harry Styles - Golden youtu . be / uct_g5F1f8o The Beatles - Across The Universe youtu . be / Zb4sIiGLXvc Ariana Grande - God Is A Woman youtu . be / 3I0y66uBRaA Here is a live performance of "Everything Matters" from her latest album together with "Pomme" (Claire Pommet) a French singer/songwriter. Pomme is also featured in the album version of the song, and she wrote the lyrics for the last verses in French youtu . be / yX8bYwl9rKc (Live on Rhythm by Modzik)
Fuck... i wanna cry...
Hey Steve, Aurora 🧚 has a way of Aurora-izing songs when she covers one❤ great reaction to a great performance!
Nice job holding it together O'G. I could see you were struggling pretty hard at times, but to not lose even one single tear during this song is an accomplishment for anyone. The girl has supernatural abilities with her voice. Good reaction video.
*there is a Superb version of "Life On Mars?" also by Frida Lyngstad (of ABBA) on her 1975 solo album "Frida Ensam" ("Frida Alone") SUPERB
As covers go, this one is exceptional for Aurora. Most of her covers are Triple J quickies, or similar, where she and the band have an hour to practice beforehand. Teardrop was one of those. She's sung Life on Mars at least several times, and likely many times, and I think that makes the difference in the performance. This song, by Aurora, was featured on a TV show called Girls. I haven't seen the show, it's just a tidbit of info. She also performed this on Howard Stern.
