Hello. The nuance, pausing, pitching, softness and the atmosphere in her singing here is beyond magic. Thank you for your kind reaction to my Queen.❤❤
I absolutely love Aurora. I have been watching her evolve since 2016 and from the start I knew she was one in a billion talent. She keeps proving that fact every song.
I was at the Kongsberg consert, and I stood 2-3 meters from Aurora's sister Miranda, and their parents. I SO wanted to go and shake their hand and thank them for supporting/helping Aurora, but I am embarrest to say I did not manage to do it.... I am not a "crying person", but when it comes to Aurora I get very emotional, so I don't think I would have managed it. How "stupid" would I, a 53 yo man, feel to brake down because of an artist in front of her family (and my wife and son and his girlfreind) 🙂.... Actually, the guy standing beside me was more brave than me, it was his 10 (or something) concert, and he had "talked" to the mother before on instagram, so he talked to them, got a hug from her mother also 🙂.

Yesssssss... I suggested that one to Ashlena as well ! Let's hope she takes our request, since I'm sure she will LOVE it.
Bowie and Cohen were 2 of her favorit artiste, Bowie for his imaginary world and Cohen for his poetry, but both for their story telling. I'm not resdy to say that she past the master, but she is so close. Her redition as so authentic, it feel that she make it her own. Lovely reaction. Thank you. Pssst new music coming from her...
You want to know why she's not winning tons of awards? Its easy she's not American or Canadian or Brits. Outside of that niche you rarely have a chance of getting awards in what is supposed to be the REAL AWARDS like the Grammys . Its sad, but she doesn't need tons of awards because she is loved all over the world and you know why.
hey, hey! it's tuesday again?! i wished, bowie wrote more verses, just to let this cover last longer. why isn't she more popular? maybe she isn't system conform? even if my chances are so low: i would suggest and vote for "wisdom cries". just a few people like it.
Aurora is precious and brilliant. I love her music and her incredible vocal range.
FYI, she just posted that she has new music coming.

I was also not a fan of original song but I love this cover (sorry Bowie fans, but I respect Bowie :) ). Great voice tone/pitch and beautiful singing. The lyrics are more noticeable and emotions she bring to the song make it much better. Piano fits very well. Also she does not rush music, in this cover she shows importance of silence between sounds/notes (yes I know, it sounds strange but it is what I realized listening to this cover ;) ) . Thx for another cool Aurora reaction! :)
Hi Ashlena. I discovered Aurora three years ago, thanks to my daughter (she's 6 now) and her ovbcession with Frozen 2. After watching the movie about 5 times, I noticed an unusual voice. a hypnotic melody, I had to look for it and there I met Aurora. I have not heard anyone who generates the images that this singer generates in me. She has the ability to tell you a story, even the smallest, and to place you there. He also describes and narrates what he sings that transports you to that place with his magical voice. greetings from Argentina.

I look forward to every Tuesday for these reactions. I would like to nominate Aurora x Pomme - Live on RHYTHM BY MODZIK for a future reaction.
I never really understood this song until I first heard this, her first reinterpretation, of "Life on Mars". I know exactly what you mean by her effect. In conversation she was life changing. She showed me how to look at things.
This is so extreme level good that I can’t really comprehend it. Only the expectations give me goosebumps before she even started!
There is no door leading out of this Queendom. After her tour Aurora is working in the studio again. ❤❤

Yes! Those 2 songs from that show are particularly excellent. 😁 As for the unreleased songs... Wake Up might honestly be my favorite song she's ever made. It's SO good...the only downside is that it's quite short. Being a demo, it feels like it needs a bridge. I hope she eventually gets back to that song and releases it. It's too brilliant to be hidden away..

It's just a cover, sang in the same style but with her natural higher voice. She hasn't really done a lot to change the song or mix it up, other than to lengthen a couple of notes. Not sure how you can not like the original but like this, but hey, you like what you like, and it seems to be a common theme on Aurora's reactions. It's decent, but I'm sure even Aurora would say that the original is unsurpassed.
One of my favs!!!
I was never a great fan of David Bowie’s original “Life on Mars” but Aurora’s version is one of my absolute favorite covers that she’s done. She makes the lyrics tell a cohesive story and the emotions she brings are revelatory. There are other equally beautiful live performances of her singing this (on Howard Stern and the slightly later version at Nidarosdomen which closed the concert, that you reacted to previously), but I think this is my favorite because of her piano playing and the intimacy of it. Something rarely noticed in this performance has to do with her love of dead insects: when the camera pans close near the beginning of the song, look at the top of the Fender Rhodes piano she’s playing, just to her right. You will see eight dead roaches (or crickets- it’s hard to tell) lined up neatly in a row that she brought with her for the performance. Someone else who noticed them called them “emotional support insects” which makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for a wonderful reaction, as usual.

Ah, marvelous. No need to comment further on this performance of "Life on Mars", the one I like the most, as I guess you've already read enough comments which are rightly rave about it. Instead, I will recommend that you privately check this out, if you wish: Aurora Covers David Bowie’s 'Life on Mars?' for Gigwise: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z32k2cNtmanQdbQ.html Around the 2nd March 2016, Aurora sang this song for Gigwise. Here's a part of their article (link in the description of the video of the cover given above): "I just really understand 'the girl with the mousey hair'," Aurora tells Gigwise of her love of the track. "she gets quite disappointed over the world and she hears about this greater, more beautiful life that might be out there somewhere. She asks herself these questions - is there life on Mars? Is there a purer life that I don't have access to?" She continues: "It's just a really beautiful song, and I loved it from the first time I heard it. David Bowie himself is a hero, he just made us all feel so special - he was a genius. The way he behaved, the way he answered all of his interviews, the way he was, it was just so inspirational." Aurora adds: "It's very bold to embrace your inner quirkiness, and he helped me not to be ashamed of who I am." Anyway, great reaction to Aurora, this true wonder of our modern world.🙂👍
I'm pretty sure that any song she covers, the writing artist unknowingly wrote it for her.

Glad you picked this version! She also performed this on the Howard Stern show and it was stunning, but she was only singing, no piano. And she closes the Nidarosdomen concert with it, which is very nice...but not as good as this performance imo. Also...do you see the things sitting on her electric piano? Those are half a dozen cockroaches. She mentioned in an interview (the one with Stern) that she put them there to make her feel less anxious...cuz of how much she loves bugs. It's just funny...until I heard her say that, I'd never noticed it before. But now I can't unsee it lol...

Auroras arrangement choices, her incredible vocal control, her raw emotion and especially her giving the lyrical lines room to 'breath' is brilliant. You be right. Commercial main streem music is pushed forward by forces within the industry basically deciding what people like. Auroras music doesn't "fit in". She has been presented on norwegian tv programs but i never hear her music on the commercial radio channels. Maybe it is also a bit too advanced for many. I love David Bowie so much, so Aurora covering David Bowie is really special. I do see that poll you took, and I'm BEGGING you, please watch the Somewhere Else Fest version of "A Different Kind of Human" before you watch any other live version. It's such a magical performance. The Radiofest version is great in terms of the whole band performing, but the Somewhere Else Fest is just Aurora being the most magical being on the planet. The Somewhere Else Fest was a concert that Aurora recorded while everyone was in lock down. She wanted to do something to give her fans hope when they might be feeling lonely and isolated. I don't know much about Tove Lo, but I do know that Dorian Electra did a remix of "I Like u" and I enjoyed it. I wonder if you have ventured into Dorian Electra's work?
