Her piano playing is underappreciated I think.... First, just the fact she can play AND _sing that well_ at the same time....is impressive enough. But I'm quite drawn into her style too. She has a VERY light touch...her fingers dance around the keyboard in this effervescent way. You really see that at play on her God is a Woman and Across the Universe covers. She almost never plays block chords either, rather it's very melodious and full of runs and motifs and arpeggios. Her piano playing sounds like light reflecting off rippling water....

Awesome, thank you. In a way I'm happy she isn't bigger. It could ruin her love of it if the industry's demands were too great, if she couldn't continue doing it her own way, if the pressures just become too much. She wants to reach out to those who needs her music, who can heal from it. She'd definitely deserve it though, if she wanted to.

Agreed. I think if her management or record label or herself....really pursued that goal, she could be about an order of magnitude bigger than she is. But I don't get the feeling she even wants that. Plus I think her success/fame now is kinda ideal...she's big enough for her art to actually touch a TON of people, but not so huge she can't walk down the street by herself. Also, given what a hyper introvert she is, I imagine she has zero desire to give up any more of her inner life/world for mere career success. Personally, I'd like to see her go down an even _less_ mainstream direction going forward. Keep making what is fundamentally pop music, but infuse it with all sorts of weird interesting experimentation. In other words, I want to hear Aurora's version of what Bjork did on Homogenic. :)

Very nice reaction I love the original, but Aurora takes it to the next level, so beautiful. And it’s quite mind blowing that she’s self taught when it comes to singing and playing piano. I’m from Norway🇳🇴 And Aurora has been my favourite artist for eight years now. I also like artists like Billie Eilish, Ina Wroldsen, Pink, Jewel, Muse, Alanis Morissette, Mariah Carey, Highasakite, Avril Lavigne+++ And I’m a fan of the comedian artists brothers Ylvis (they have the famous song “The Fox”) She have many fans all over the world, not like Billie Eilish of course. I know Aurora wouldn’t like to be as famous as her though. Fun fact: Billie Eilish was inspired by Aurora, she has mentioned it in several interviews. Last year when Aurora won a music award, Billie sent her a video message gratulating and thanking her. Since you have many requests already, I recommend someone new: Ina Wroldsen with “St. Peter” live This is a true story from when she was in a country in Africa (don’t remember which) Ylvis with “Masachussetts” official video Highasakite with “Samurai Swords” acoustic version

Susanne Sundfør: Undercover, Alyosha, When the Lord, Memorial, Leikara Ljod, the Sound of war (live the Barbican), Running to the sea. Out of all the Ylvis music videos, “the fox” is probably the least interesting, least funny and least good sounding. Karpe’s “SAS PLUS/SAS PUSSY” album is an almost 30 minute continuous track, but the first song SAS pussy, Moscot & Dior time stamp 08:50 and Dodi i en Hoodie time stamp 25:57 are some of the best. From their “Omar Sheriff” album their live concert in Oslo Spektrum 2022 is recommended. “Baraf/Fairuz”, “paf.no” and “salmalaks” in particular. Ane Brun, who Aurora listened to growing up: Last Breath, cover of Halo, Do you Remember, Hand in the Fire, Du gråter så store tåra

Difficult to stop once she's grabbed your attention, right?🙂 "Everything she does just seems so powerful", as you said, is exactly what I feel everytime I watch one of her live performances. Even after watching dozens ones, dozen times each, maybe hundreds (I just have no idea😀), I'm still amazed by this incredible ability she has, to make everything filled by life and beauty. Even there, just her and a piano, and her awesome talent, her sheer artistic, musical, and emotional presence. She doesn't even need to push her voice at all. In a way, it's even more powerful than watching a good old "5 minutes alone", live, by Panthera with full sound🙃... Part of me thinks that writing something like this can't be serious, but hey, it's just how it is.🙂 About Billie Eilish, take the time to watch these 2 short videos (2mn15s, and 1mn14s), if you wish: Billie Eilish talks about AURORA (Türkçe Altyazılı): kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3dl3JKCYNvgYNo.html Billie Eilish talking about Aurora, the long version: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hYao2Zqrh7Hgl5c.html Anyway, thanks for this nice reaction to Aurora, this impressive and endearing artist who considers that her music is much bigger than her.🙂👍

Hiya! I am from Finland. Nowadays I listen only to AURORA. That is, her music and anything she has to say. I seriously think that she is the wisest human being alive. Anyway, lately I have been stuck on Robbie Fitzsimmons' new singles/videos and waiting impatiently his new album to come out. Incredible voice, as is Aurora's. Like many commenters said, I also suggest you dive deep into Aurora's music. Her live performances are the best, although there are some mv's that I'd recommend, such as Winter Bird, The Seed and The River (unless you did those already). Me being an album person, I prefer to listen to someone's album from start to finish, trying to get into the story that it tells. Just ordered the reissued All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend CD! Sadly, though, it's not the Deluxe edition.

Yea she is great and in my opinion she should be big = I totally agree. But I also think that for Aurora it is probably better she is not big. I think there are some reason like: she is not from USA, she does not do things that would help her to be bigger as she does not want to be famous or something and her music is no mainstream (even if sometimes it is close but it has unique sound and style). BTW: she is very natural artist/artist too. She has no music education = f.e. she play piano, compose her music but does not know notes or theory connected with it. She just started to play or try to make music around 6 on the old (not fully functional as she need to use one hand and press on button to play) electric piano all by herself. In my opinion she is very creative and artistic person.

Take the time to read this:🙂 Around the 2nd March 2016, Aurora sang this song for Gigwise: Aurora Covers David Bowie’s 'Life on Mars?' for Gigwise: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z32k2cNtmanQdbQ.html Here's a part of their article (link in the description of the video of the cover given above): "I just really understand 'the girl with the mousey hair'," Aurora tells Gigwise of her love of the track. "she gets quite disappointed over the world and she hears about this greater, more beautiful life that might be out there somewhere. She asks herself these questions - is there life on Mars? Is there a purer life that I don't have access to?" She continues: "It's just a really beautiful song, and I loved it from the first time I heard it. David Bowie himself is a hero, he just made us all feel so special - he was a genius. The way he behaved, the way he answered all of his interviews, the way he was, it was just so inspirational." Fame and greatness might be interpreted and valued differently in Norway and the USA. Comedy/satire duo “Ylvis” consisting of brothers Vegard and Bård attempted a career in the states. They disliked the industry in the USA. Their critic: There is so much money involved, the overriding principle is always to sell to the largest crowd. Profit is the ultimate goal. Decisions are made accordingly, and the ideas that actually make great stuff suffer. People in Norway working with art are willing to take bigger risks. The Americans wanted them to incorporate lutefisk and lefse in their sketch “because that’s hilarious!” They thought @*%# it is not! The things we made that people actually love us for is something we made at home, with our people, our crew, only 20 minutes away from our wives and children, not on the other side of the world. We will have to make sure this pilot sucks. Then we will be released from our contract, and we can go home and make our own decisions and make the stuff we want to make. Norwegian rap duo Karpe, 20 years + active and winner of 16 Norwegian music awards express the same sentiments. In an interview with TRT World they say that Norway is a country where being an artist is easy because people appreciate the non-commercial thinking , and it’s a place where a non-commercial approach can also become commercial. They are experimental and their different albums sound quite different.

If one dancer is choreographed to take one pirouette on set, eight different people have to be present, and they all have to have filled in and signed six different forms in advance to make sure no one gets a law suit against them if the dancer gets injured when taking that pirouette.
