    Leave your ego at the door right? In this case it would've protected him. Dude got caught not once but twice and he still wanted to keep going because his ego couldn't admit that he was wrong. Every instructor will tell you to tap if you're caught. You don't want to ruin your ability to enjoy doing what you love just because you're too proud to admit defeat. Guys like this drive me nuts! It's your knees bro! Take care of them.

    Dude, you dont seem to know who Vinny is. He himself used leg locks to a great extent during his career. You think he doesnt know the dangers of getting caught in such a dangerous submission and not tapping? Let alone when he is up against a guy who made a name for himself destroying competition with heel hooks? Its not the first time Vinny chose not to tap to a fully locked sub, Fabricio Werdum had him in a fully locked armbar once and he fought through it. The whole ''tap early, tap often'' mantra applies only to hobbyists and not to cream of the crop professionals. A pro will absolutely let his shit break to continue fighting. Money and fame are on the line. Jacare, Romulo Barral, Bia Mesquita and many more suffered broken limbs in competition. Did all of these athletes act solely on ego and pride?

  • @Presence_o_Mind

    @@imightdeletethislater3810 Yea yea yea. Just like when the whole fam called Ryron and yelled at him about tapping vs Josh Barnett. I couldn't care less about that nonsense. It's your body and the damage from a heel hook or ankle lock is going to last and effect you a lot worse that a simple Jacare armbar. Bottom line, it's stupid. Yea rep is on the line, but you also get and keep respect when you admit you were wrong and move forward.

  • @imightdeletethislater3810

    @imightdeletethislater3810

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Presence_o_Mind Its in the nature of the job. Football players gamble with everlasting brain damage, boxers too. Should they all give up on the first signs of trouble? Most of the pros gave up everything to get to the top. Nicky Ryan dropped out of school to train JJ. Jacare was piss poor and was travelling on one way tickets to tournaments, buying his ticket back home with the prize money he won. It doesnt matter if its an armbar or a heel hook, both are dangerous subs, a good armbar can leave you with bolts on your arm for a lifetime. When it comes to amateur competitors, i absolutely agree, you get caught, you tap, you wont get anything out of fighting out a match with a broken arm, only to win a plastic medal in the end. Jacare got his arm broken against Roger, but in the end he won the absolute and defeated the greatest competitor of all time. You know a lot of people that hold a win over Roger?

    That's a great point Chael made. Heel hooks aren't like most other submissions. You don't really feel pressure being applied before consequences like with toe holds or anklelocks. Inside heel hooks are nasty, but Vinny didn’t tap because he was arrogant and said that leg locks wouldn’t work on him not because he didn’t feel the pressure.
