Don't shoot without a setup should be #1 for both wrestlers and BJJ guys alike. Great video, solid stuff.

The setup can be as simple as using a snap down

@@ninobach7456no doubt, but when people are standing upright, it’s an inefficient method-unless you can push him hard enough to commit to pushing back. On of my biggest grievances with BJJ rules is that they don’t call stalling for backing up like they do in wrestling. If you’re just backing up, you’re not trying to get anything done. So, changing that rule will have a massive impact

Good advice
1:24 Stiff Arm 1:49 Hands up. Post and Run them down 7:18 Single leg sprawl to the body lock 8:06 cross wrist to underhook 9:13 same arm, same leg reach, elbow post 9:19 & 9:30 knee pull single
5:25 This guy is a true master. When he hits the ground there is virtually no noise. He knows how to decrease his weight to 0 kg's while flying through the air. Simply amazing.

Silent but deadly
As a former wrestler who often competes against upright-standing judokas, I'm definitely going to use the stiff arm to single. I usually just blast double, but this is much more efficient.

Same! You could probably also bait someone into lowering their stance after a few stiff arm singles too.

Mind the arm bar, if he gets his legs around the post arm, there will be grief

Hear in michigan we got lots a good wrestling let's just say the judoka I have rolled with don't fall for that let's just say they set their giallotine traps so to say

@@CoachKevanKillsitoh dude 100%!!! This is exactly how I taught heavyweights in highschool how to wrestle. I would get some big football players and teach them a stiff arm single, elbow post single, blast double, and then a good push to a snap front headlock off the opponent’s push back. They could go from not knowing what to do to owning people on the mat. I would tell them to just avoid collar ties and follow that method. It was crazy how effective it was

Easier on your neck than the blast double too

Great video Jordan! I believe a lot of people don't realize just how important the standing game is and some gyms don't even teach much standing game which is crucial in competition. This video is great to learn the stand up game that you can't learn anywhere else.

I did the same about 7 years ago. At first, it was a little frustrating that my brain knew what to do but my old body wouldn’t do it haha. Enjoy the journey again!

What I am showing here is classic wrestling technique that I have been using since the early 1990s. That just shows how much there for BJJ to learn on their feet. I use a lot of the same things for heavyweight wrestlers (stiff arm singles) because of their posture
Great Video congrats!! Very clear and useful
