Yes, if your arms are long in comparison to your opponent's size.
I like the idea of slowing down for (as you called it) a "pitstop" to figure out where to go next. I will definitely try this grip!
Love the term "pit stops" - I usually think of the same concept as crossing a river by jumping to safety on the rocks, as safe places to reassess and plan.
Placido kicking Craig over is just the cherry on top of the cake! Hahahaha Awesome

are we exposing the right arm to olma plata or other arm lock by wrapping around behind the opponents hip? Also what's to stop the opponent breaking the hip grip?

What would the nuance in technique be if my leg was in a 50/50 position but caught in an outside ankle lock? (ex. If Craig’s right ankle was locked under Placido’s left armpit)

underhook get on top. or bodylock and take the back by lifting him off the ground. you can also turn sit down on him then kick on harmstring to clear the knee then disengage. or get up separate his legs and get on top,

SO BASICALLY YOU EITHER GO UNDER YOUR OWN KNEE (protection) TO GET UP... OR YOU GO UNDER HIS KNEE TO ATTACK (and protect)
