About those cars: Skitten might not know, but tornados aren't like hurricanes, you don't get a few days of warning. It takes about 1 or 2 minutes for a storm cloud to make a tornado, and the only safe place is underground. Those car owners are probably taking cover underground until the storm passes. No time to move the cars, maybe no space to store them. Again, only safe underground.

A lot of tornadoes are rain-wrapped(aka hidden by the rain), but this one was easily visible. Still, tornadoes are very unpredictable, and can go almost anywhere once they form

The counting windows for taxes was meant so houses could be taxed proportionate to its size without having to send someone to measure the house. This has caused various issues, like those bricked windows but also building elongated house with only a single large window on either end of the house. These elongated house were incidentally huge dust catchers and coincided with a noticable increase of asthma.

Something similar to that window tax thing apparently happened in Japan ages ago, except they taxed you based on the width of your front door. Predictably, people started designing houses to play the system. Eventually, those adaptations came to simply be viewed as traditional architecture.

Quick physics lesson, liquids take an insane amount of pressure to actually compress. So the combination of a can and its liquid contents sealed inside makes for an extremely hard thing to crush, especially from the top down. TL;DR trying to crush a sealed can of liquid vertically is a dumb ass move.
