Excellent video!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this tutorial, it was a HUGE help to me making my first casting!

Very cool. I’ve found that if I lightly dust the outer surface of my silicone molds with baby powder, they slide against themselves much easier, eliminating the need to roll the silicone up as I peel it from the clay pattern.

Thank you for your content! Excellent work and helpful tips! I wanted to mention that I think the filters that you’re using are not for VOCs. I could be wrong but I thought it would be worth saying. I e worked with a lot of resin and use the 3M 6001 filters for organic vapors

Love the demo, this is what I have been looking for. I wasn't sure if I could use rebound 25 for a glove mold. Thanks for the demo. Haven't done that much casting.

Hi, Great tutorial. Very much appreciated! I was wondering if to use Plasti Paste 2 together with fiberglass.. Will that work? To give extra strength. Or is the PP2 enough on it's own? &How many trial units will do for a human sized face mask (+with goat horns)? Doing a Venetian style Faun mask. Thanks! Have a great day🤟🏻

Awesome bro. How many buckets of plasti-paste did you actually use?

If it were a larger armor piece, like a torso breastplate or cuirass, should a different product be used than 65D? It seems like slush casting would not be ideal, and a brush on thixatropic material, like epoxy, would be better?

It all depends! For a pour mold I'd use something like smooth on 300. That's what I often use for some of my mask teeth or horns. You could do a brush on epoxy with fiberglass backing. Volpin props has a great Instagram post on it. instagram.com/p/Bbx9TaHByCM/

ideally when casting a silicone product you want to use a hard mother mold. A lot of people will use something like ultracal. if you got a few hours to kill kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6Gmyctqiqy6mKg.html @ StiltbeastStudios has been doing a ton a of creature live streams during lock down covering a lot of silicon and latex mask making.

How did you attach the cards , or metal shims to the silicone?

I just cut a small slit in the silicone. thats one of the reasons for the bigger ridge in the silicone.

@@Cullens_Workshop thanks, so you make a thick seam line to insert the cards, maybe add a silicone thickener

@@Cullens_Workshop also learned don't Store silicone above 75 degrees environmens, or work with it when it's hot. Will cure very fast not working time. Like in 2 minutes

If you had left out the mesh layer, wouldn’t it be more stretchy?

  • @Cullens_Workshop

nope the mesh has a really good stretch ratio. the mesh streches to the point the silicone would start tearing. So it's more a safety measure than anything.
