Hey drama. I have been playing in mud for a couple yrs and always worried about making my own molds. Am going to take the leap now and just wanted to say thanks. While Gris is a master at concrete your videos make the regular guy feel it is possible. So wish me luck

Thank you Sharon! I think most of my videos show things where you could just pick up the materials and get something done on the same day without pulling your hair out too much! :D Yes, Gris is the man! Good luck with your molding! I'm sure everything will turn out great! :)

I wish I would have seen this about ten minutes ago when I did not put plastic between the latex and plaster bandages. I hope I can get it off! Lol

Great video! Could you use a second layer of cling film between the two layers of plaster instead of using vasoline? Also do you think you could use water and make a frozen pine cone ice cube or would the plaster break? Thanks!

Yes, you can use anything for a barrier as long as it doesn't affect the latex. I used vaseline, but was careful not to let it touch the latex as this could affect the latex. I have casted ice from a latex mold and seemed ok: Casting A Skull In Ice: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4iIvMdugZqtido.html

Thanks for the video just an quick question can I apply plaster directly to the rubber latex without cling sheet

You can obviously try that and find out why the cling film is used on an experiential level. There's a reason for using the cling film, otherwise it wouldn't be needed.

There's around 15 layers of latex on this mold. I use Polycraft latex and you can buy it on Amazon: amzn.to/2CQAfym

Hey Drama 🙌 How long has your plaster bandage mother molds lasted? Like your gargoyle one? Just got my first plaster roll to apply over a latex mold... super excited and wondering how many times these can be used? Thank you!

Every plaster bandage mother mold I have ever made is still intact. They last for ages, as long as you look after them, although they're pretty sturdy. :)

I sometimes use varnish or shellac, but I tend to use automotive spray lacquer for most models, including plaster. :)

Some people use thick latex, but I tend to apply my latex with thin coats, making sure to stipple in the first two coats and then brushing suucessive layers. Thin coats also dry quicker and I can get between 3-5 coats of latex on a model in a day. Here's a simple video on how I make my latex molds: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pJ6cqNZmc5zOZso.html
