Hey Bob, love the video(s). I was lucky enough to have a special effects company make a lifecast of my gigantic knoggin. Reason being that any mask they sculpted on it would fit anyone. I got a pull from the cast and it's been useful for everything from sculpting an Alien face hugger to stretching out a leather tricorn pirate hat. Unfortunately, during the casting, someone in the shop farted while I was constrained to only breathing through one nostril, which made the experience a bit traumatic. Only someone who has been through it can appreciate how vulnerable one is.

Thanks for posting. Great guide! Added tip: to avoid getting eyelashes pulled out, coat them with petrolium jelly before you cover them in the silicone material.

Hi man and thnx for the awesome videos of this! We are going to be doing this exact mold but the baldcaps that you use, the link you shared is no longer available. Do you have any where else to turn for that type? 😊 Again, awesome job!

I came here looking to be that guy who points out all the things you did wrong and was utterly heartbroken when I heard Bill was doing the cast XD. He definitely knows what he's doing!!

I really did have the best intentions I swear =D. Sometimes you see people doing life casts that promote techniques that are just so incredibly wrong and dangerous which is especial worrying with an audience as large as yours. Ive seen way too many people stuck inside plaster life casts sometimes with bandages not even made for moulding XD.

Six degrees of separation really is a thing isn't it? I'm a follower of Tested content. I have been following them for years, was one of the original subscribers to the website when they were with Whiskey Media (Giant Bomb, Screened, Anime Vice and Comic Vine) and continued to support them when they were purchased by BermanBraun and finally when Adam Savage was introduced to the team. A few months ago KZread suggested I check out a video on how to make an arcade cabinet. I checked the video and was impressed enough by the content that I subscribed and that's how I became a subscriber here. For Tested.com to be mentioned here due to the association of Bill Doran and his relationship with the site really was quite surprising. Small world lol. Keep up the good work!

So what is recommended to use when making the actual mold out of the cast? (or do I have that backwards) also did those two bottles work for your entire head or did you need multiples. My spouse and I are wanting to make molds of our heads so we can start learning various prosthetics like I want to make an Asari headpiece and my spouse wants to do a helmet.
