Yes, I can breathe. Welcome to a claustrophobe's worst nightmare, but I actually found it really relaxing.
Want to see more? You could follow my blog? It's free! :D www.bloglovin.com/en/blog/2609...
After last weeks hand cast tutorial the perfect follow up is a face cast tutorial. Again I was very lucky to have Stuart Bray demonstrate the whole process, Stuart has worked on films like Gladiator, The Mummy and Shaun of the Dead, and if you're into special effects I highly recommend you check out his website for some great tutorials!
I know a few people are like "eh? What's this for".....just wait ;) This face cast should be getting used in quite a few future tutorials on both channels.

"I sent a response on your blog, and maybe we need to put out some kind of bulletin as a lot of people didn't seem to watch the vid properly.
"There is a worryingly large amount of people who seem to think people gladly suffocate for this process, but clearly this is not the case.
The whole point is to attend to the nostrils FIRST so they are done and cleat BEFOTE covering the whole face. Then it is simply just breathing normally as you do anyway...that is what those two holes in your nose are for, after all.
If someone cannot breath normally through the nose, then you can work around aslightly open mouth. This is not ideal as it can cause theower lip to pull down, and drooling to occur.
I never, ever use straws as they distort the nostril shape, can become dislodged and if knocked carve grooves into the nasal passage.
Should a nostril ever be covered, simply blow through the nose to clear, or open the mouth (the material is still fluid at this point). Once the alginate sets, it no longer moves and so cannot block anything.
Having done literally thousands of lifecasts, including many actors, I assure you this is safe if you know the materials and can control it. In answer to the many times asked question 'how do you breathe?, the answer is 'through the nostrils'.
I think it is also more disconcerting to watch than to have it done. I know how it feels, as I have had everything cast myself many times over, including full head and body casts!
This is one of the many processes which need to be done well to produce good prosthetics, and like many things, the final result on screen does not reveal the skills and amount of effort required to produce it.
Stuart"

One of the first yt channels I ever liked. It's been so long but every once in a while, I come back just for the nostalgia.

I'm also claustrophobic! I was hiding in a little spot ans everybody was running to me and smash me flat, and then i didnt see anything and waked up on the couch with my classmates looking shocked, and my best friend was crying bcs she knew i had that, and to be stuck between the wall and people, she knew how it felt, bcs she also have it, and they are also going to lay on you and sit on you, even worse. and she thought that i was dead so she was crying, and my other friend didnt knew i had it, and she was hugging my Best friend.. When i waked up everyone was looking shocked and my best friend was crying and hugged me immediately! The whole class was like: Everything alright? I'm so sorry! And who do you think called the teacher? My best friend. She saved my life xd I really lover her and i am going to the highschool and she is going to another.. 😭

Aww! Good thing you're okay. I'm glad I haven't experienced anything like that.... yet. Whenever I'm on an enclosed space and I start to get a little out of breathe, I move away immediately before it worsen and get panic attack

Wow i feel so suffocated looking at this
Can you tell us in the video description exactly what materials were used? This could make a big difference for DIYers who aren't familiar with various mold making materials; I'd hate for someone to put something like oomoo on their face!
This video is so satisfying to watch
That's so cool!
30.3.15 Brilliant video, thank you. My daughter is doing this for year 12 art. What would you finish the plaster off with, once you have removed the mother mould and the alginate - to give the plaster a flossy finish? Shellac, glue or a spray lacquer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Klaire! You posted it a while ago so I doubt you'll answer, but I'll ask anyway! Is it possible to my friend to do a face cast of my face? Or is it better if a professional does it? If I should go with a professional, where should I go? Thank you for all your videos! :D
Is the alginate for close detail? could you create a mold with only plaster bandages?

How Did She Breath
awesome!!
Why is this satisfying
I find is sad that about 99% of the post are asking how she can breath and stating how scary it must be, and hardly any post of people genuienly interested in educating themselves and learning more about face cast, this is a educational video, he's explaining the process to you and you can clearly see he that he leaves her nosterals open, it's not scary cause she can breath, he's a professional, she's not in danger.

You think everyone one repetitively asking how can she breath? Is people trying to educate themselves and learn more about this? I didn't see any other questions about this, and yes i do think her thinking my comment counts as thinking to hard is sad, and shows a clear lacking of wanting to use your brain and educate your self if she thinks that constitutes thing to hard.
@amberpolley3690
8 жыл бұрын
+gymnastics01 your right, people ask questions about things to educate themselves but then again she is just stating the answers so there's no need to go off at her about it, if that made sense
