    Fantastic ideas! I've just inked up some used teabags that I dried and emptied, I shall be making mermaid scales with them, layering them and sewing into them. I did a textile course 20 years ago now, and it's one of the amazing things we used. Plus we have metal tubes of tomato puree over here, you can cut into and see them, a bit softer than a coke can. Love yours and Keren's videos, hope she can see this comment, sorry I can't work out if you can tag someone. My teacher had an amazing attitude, she used to say try it, and burn it! 18 years after I took up card making, as it was very close to what I enjoyed, and I still had some Brushos! I think it's so exciting experimenting! I also found I can die cut our milk cartons (tetra pack), and it looks like fake leather! Awesome for my punk card project. Sorry such a long comment ❤️❤️❤️

    What amazing materials to play with! The faux leather and mermaid scales sound incredible! Totally, experimenting is where a lot of the fun of making is. It’s easy to get swept up in results but process is everything 🙌 I’ll pass along your comment to Keren just in case. Thanks for the kind words!

    Hi Ellie, so glad you did, too! I tried my ATG tape runner and Ranger Multi Medium Matte. It’s just what I had on hand. Adhesive sheets could work phenomenally I’d imagine. And other glues should be fine, as long as it’s spread evenly. Beads of glue showed through the fabric.

    Necessity is the Mother of Invention - sometimes you just need to look at things with new eyes. Embroidery backing (for machine embroidery) makes fantastic flowers - it is robust enough to shape, stiffen, colour with anything.Use it to back thin fabrics if you need to. In Spain, they sell very fancy, old fashioned doilies. You can cut them up and emboss with them or add them in pieces to your makes.

    You nailed it! I actually need to go on a spending freeze. It’s the thought processes on how to use new products before I’ve even placed the order and the anticipation of the arrival that’s exciting. Although I don’t have a die cutting machine you showed so many great ideas for people who do. A die cutting machine is not on the horizon for me, haha. Thanks!

  • @inkhillrevival289

    @inkhillrevival289

    Totally, we’re creating our own excitement either way! That’s ok, so much cool stuff you can do with fabric, without a die cutting machine. Ink blending or sprays through lace like a stencil, a sharp pair of scissors could totally fussy cut, especially cotton. All the stamping and coloring is fair game. You could even cover the whole card front in fabric and have paper images on top for a reverse look and less precise fabric cutting required. I got my die cut machine a year into cardmaking and there’s so many ways to make without one.

    @@inkhillrevival289 seeing potential in items that I already have at home is definitely a money saver. However, for a few months now I’ve been eyeing a packet of paper doilies in the grocery store and thought it looked like a frilly stencil, but I would have to buy it to try it. 😁
