Today we’re going to talk about dandruff and probiotics. The cause of dandruff is still unknown, but there are theories as to what causes it.
What we know about dandruff:
• Dandruff occurs more in the winter
• People who have dandruff typically have more of a vitamin D deficiency
• Dandruff is an imbalance between the fungus and the bacteria on the skin
• One type of fungus on the skin (malassezia) has more than doubled when you have dandruff
• There is an increase of staph bacteria on the skin when you have dandruff
• Antibiotics may help temporarily
• Steroids may help temporarily (but can suppress the immune system)
• People with dandruff typically have a zinc deficiency
Mycobiota is the friendly fungus and the yeast that grow inside and outside of the body. It’s an area that is rarely studied, but I believe it’s very important.
Friendly fungus and yeast are very beneficial-they do a lot for us. But they need to be in the right balance. There are a lot of conditions that can occur if a person doesn’t have the right balance of fungus and bacteria.
In my opinion, I think what’s really going on with dandruff is an imbalance of the friendly fungus and friendly bacteria. I don’t believe the solution is to start using chemicals and steroids to kill off the fungus or bacteria. Instead, I think a great remedy for dandruff is a natural antibiotic and a natural anti-fungal.
Potential remedies for dandruff:
1. Garlic and oregano (take orally)
2. A probiotic that also has friendly yeast

Have had bad dandruff all my life. Have been on zinc and D3 for years. Still needed selenium sulfide 2.5% lotion several times weekly to control it. Went on a keto diet and it cleared up completely. Now just use cheap shampoo with no dandruff.

My grandmother from India used to apply yogurt on hair and leave it for an hour before washing on Saturdays. She was physically weak, but her hair equaled Rapuenzel and was crazy strong without any dandruff. It didn't grey either even at 70. It seems like the probiotics in Yogurt might have something to do with it.

When first using probiotics, some people experience gas, bloating, or diarrhea. Changes in the gut microbiota can result in bacteria producing more gas than usual, which can lead to bloating. However, these side effects usually clear up within a few days or weeks of taking the probiotics.👍

ACV will get it under control fast and seems to get things balanced back out on the outside. I use it straight and soak/saturate my hair and scalp, then wrap it in a towel for 10-15 minutes. Then wash it out. Not only does it get the dandruff under control it will strip old shampoo residue and hard water residue off of your hair and scalp. Even if you don't have dandruff I would still do this at least once a month. BTW it may sting for about a minute the first couple of times due to little tiny scratches from itching your scalp, but it will stop stinging.

ACV does the same as lime or lemon. Your skin doesn't like it that much, but it does chemically exfolliate the skin. Which is why the dandruff will be gone for a couple of days after doing this.

It may sting a little the first couple of times if you have tiny abbrasions on your scalp from itching it. do this every day for a week and you should be clear by then. Mostly on her legs. But I am noticing she is getting red inflamed scabs all over her head! She scratches a lot. It almost looks like psoriasis but I’m assuming it may be part of the eczema. Any idea what it could be? I have taken her to the doctor but they weren’t sure and prescribed her antibiotics. She’s a healthy girl who loves fruits and raw veggies. She takes vitamins daily. I’ve tried different shampoos (natural ones) but can’t find anything that helps and I don’t want her taking conventional medications

Hello again Dr. Berg. I’m 99% sure I’m zinc deficient. I intermit fast every day (18-6) with health keto. I’m 35 years old 5’8” 190lbs. What milligrams should my daily zinc intake be? Also I’ve been stuck at 190 for approximately 3 months, any advice?

For weight, reduce your eating window until you get to the weight you want to be at. A 3h window will probably do it, and if not, 1h definitely will.

I started washing my hair less often just to see how far I could stretch before it got too dirty. With shampoo and ACV rinse, I could get to 4 days before flakes and itchiness. With I went rye flour and ACV, I don’t even get flakes anymore. Just oiliness at 1 week.

@@TheDriftwoodlover Rye flour (light, not dark) and water to make a paste. Diluted ACV as conditioner. Both are common recipes for people who want to go no-poo. Took a few washes for my scalp to get fully used to and produce less oil, but the flakes diminish immediately.

Dairy is not bad for all the people actually people those who were not breastfeed properly for more than two years have lactose intolerance! But some things like injecting cows for more milk, killing the bacteria by boiling adding preservatives for packaging affect the milk that is why it is considered bad. But in countries where you can get milk directly from the cow without preservatives didnt have these issues

@@muhammadjibranali7730 I went 40 years without any lactose intolerance whatsoever. I stopped drinking milk for maybe 6 months, just because I didn't want any, and that made me lactose intolerant. Once your body isn't used to getting milk anymore, it loses the ability to properly process it forever. My original comment though was about lactose intolerant people.
