All of these were so helpful. I watched 3 videos in a row. I was having a trauma response, with panic attacks, a tension headache, and nausea. I had to stay home from work. I could not stop my body from revolting against me. This was life changing. Thank you.

I'm regularly working on self directed compassion and when I start to yawn to the point my jaw hurts, cry, hiccuping, burping, get gas, I know that the self treatment hit the soft spot. Singing helped me to go through a lot of though times.

Bessel Van Der Kolk says that choirs are societies way of regulating emotions.

@@hmmcinerney oh, believe me, they are. I'm singing in a mix generation choir. We are singing at masses, different cultural events, we sing at funerals, weddings, you name it. Many members had difficult times and we helped them get on their feet with participating at practicing, organizing casual meetings after the practice so we talked a little, cried, drank a glass of wine and ate a good food. So yeah, choir is cleaning the soul and helping in therapeutic way both, those who listen and those who sing.

Does the exercises help with really bad pains in front of head ? I’m looking up that link you sent me. My doctors here are no help at all. They don’t even know a lot about TBI ‘s and then environmental toxic exposures. I’m going to try the exercises soon. I can barely function from the pain. Your a Blessing Kyle

Very interesting. When I was a little girl, I used to have my father rub my ear. It just made me feel so good and I can relax and everything. I don't know how I got onto that at all, but I did, and I would ask him if he would rub my ear, and he would usually say yes. Suffer with Gastro paresis and I'm trying different things to help. I read where the vagus nerve activates the stomach's ability to empty, I sure am hoping it works because I am in a lot of pain and nausea. Thanks I will let you know if ot helps. If nothing else, I helps it helps the accompanying anxiety.
I appreciate that yoo speak in a soft voice and get right into the subject...then broaden to hoyse keepung briefly and then go deeper into the subject. Very, very nice transitions. Wonderful video. Very heloful. Thank you.

I've had anaphylaxis and now get a lot of anxiety over whether I can breathe. My stomach gets super tense, and I can't find the right muscles to belly breathe because everything is clenched so hard. I think the sniffing/laughing trick might really help me with that! And I am using those calm down buttons in my ears regularly. Thank you so much. 💜💜💜

Thank you for making the Vagus Nerve important. It is very new in relation to other forms of calming oneself and more attention to it is needed. This VEGAS girl is happy to see the VEGUS nerve talked about more. Badumbum! 😊 Hope you got a good laugh from my help with your dad jokes! 😊 Thank you for your wonderful contributions to psychology, mental health and the brain being physical and the physical affected by the mental coming from the mind, and vise verse. The mind is our self talk. The brain is our body talk, both one, both the same and both need care for our whole to be healthy! ❤

IS it important to differentiate between stimulating vagus nerve and calming vagus nerve as far as exercises? Some of these seem directed at stimulation, bit confused.
Cyclic sighing is also very effective for calming down and can be combined with the deep breathing technique in the video to enhance it to another level. All you have to do is take another small inhale after finishing the slow inhale.

Does stimulating the vagus nerve help activate the GABA system in the brain?
