$239 is way overpriced for that turntable. You can get a Fluance RT80 or a U-Turn Orbit for less than that.

The thing with vintage however is that if the unit was not very well taken care of, it could have issues when you go to use it. That’s the big worry I have. Maybe if I go to Japan I’ll get a nice vintage turntable from Hard Off or something like that because they largely take EXCELLENT care of everything in Japan.

I recently bought this turntable, I only paid $150 for it brand new. I must say I have had absolutely no problems with this turntable. The strobe light for the pitch control work perfectly and the tone arm damping mechanism works great. I don't know if he just received a bad unit or it was damaged but my works awesome. I love it.

Yes, it's jonque. It will probably be feedback city if you run it through an amp at a decent volume and I think the sound will be tinny and thin as well. To me, it's kinda like a characture of a turntable. Interesting market placement though, almost predatory in nature. It photographs well, so initially it will fool a lot of people. You'll probably see it discounted before long.

6/25/22. I just got this from Amazon. Drop damper is fine. Strobe lights work well. Had a bit of a tough time with counter weight but it's good. $139,99 every day at Anazon. They may have been priced wrong a year ago, and may have tweaked some issues. Smooth rotation, sounds great. It is worth $139.99. But no more. Don't listen to much vinyl but I am a Beatle collector so it's fun paying and finding LPS, 45s, and EPs.

Just got one yesterday. Was having problems with speed so I looked for help video and found this. It was only $100 (went up to $139 today) on Amazon so guess they found out it was over priced. It's probably OK for me if I can get the speed sorted out. I did get a quick response from Customer Service. The other thing I don't like is the on/off switch on the back. All my gear is in a rack so it will probably have to stay on all the time. Wish I had watched this video first! My old old old turntable died so needed replacement. I was actually quite shocked at some of the prices these days. Thanks

After watching many of your videos of these turntables I would always recommend getting a used vintage one instead. At least instead of these really bad ones like this. If you think about it, over $200 is wayyyy too much for something like this. A week ago I myself got a nearly mint Sony direct drive from 1980 for a $100 with a new needle. Its built much much better than this and also works much more reliable, with a real strobe etc. Sound quality wise would probably compete with something in the $500 range today.

I agree, that really is far too much money for what it is. At full price it's quite close to turntables like the entry level Project Debut and Rega Planar (at least in the UK), and actually more expensive than the Project Primary E. And although these don't have the bling or the preamp, they do give solid, reliable performance.

Those strobe markings are certainly interesting. As other commenters have said, these ones are usually reserved for higher-end models which would give you pitch adjustment markings for all 3 (or even 4 in the case of the AT LP-1240) speeds. A bummer this one is not that good, I really enjoy seeing these beginner units.

You don't typically find the former configuration on decks until you get up to the higher end direct drive TT's like the Audio Technica LP-140XP and the Technics 1200

The top of the 'strobe light' looks like it turns, does it, if so what does it do? Perhaps there's a speed adjustment on the motor also, so the speed/pitch is a bit more accurate as there seemed to be a bit of a difference between the 45 & 33. Just some thoughts on this. Oh and perhaps the company needs to notice that they have put dampening listed on the box. That tone arm is not very soft at all, it seems to be very bad. Where is the dampening and why is it like an avalanche? You lowered it slowly and it still dropped like a stone!

Rather than investing in a nice aluminum 45 adapter, turntable makers-------make an adapter that is pre-fitted into the turntable that you can lift up/and turn/thus placing your 45 down onto it. Oh BTW this is not a novel idea;-)...most turntables were made with this feature back in the 1950/60's!!!

  • @stevesstuff1450

Nice video! I like these 'on location' intros... that waterfall area you're in there is gorgeous! However, that turntable is not! ;-) At even $139.00 it would need it's Q/C improving - that lack of arm damping is very poor.... The strobe looks to be badly designed; although it is not always easy to see on video. At it's current price point, it really should also include that simple automatic start/stop/arm return function that tables like the LP60X and LP3 feature at their respectively much lower price points! I would have though this DigitNow would have been a competitor to the AT-LP3, but no, it falls way behind! The LP3 is better built - metal arm/arm bearings, has the auto functions, a working damped tonearm lifter, the AT3600 is correctly pre-aligned, and is aprox $70.00 cheaper!

I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed that the adapter ended up fitting so tight on the spindle. I tried to design it so it would slip easily onto the spindle without it being 'sloppy' loose. The bad news is that some record player spindles are slightly larger than others, and there are slight differences in tolerances at the 3D printing service as well. I decided slightly small is better than slightly large, because it's always easy to make the hole a bit larger. I suggest taking a drill bit close to the size of the hole, and WITH YOUR HAND using it to ream out the hole slightly until it slips easily over the spindle. It should not take much work, so go slowly and check your progress until it's satisfactory. I'm sure this turntable could be improved with a few tweaks and modifications, but off the shelf, $239 is too much to ask. I'd be hesitant even if it was $100 cheaper.

The main thing I like about that DIGITNOW turntable aside from the ability to use any audio cables one likes or adding other cartridges, is the feet which look like they would have pretty good vibration isolation, but otherwise, I'd be weary of any gimmicky labelling, the lack of dampening fluid, the "decorative" strobe dots that aren't accurate, etc. Companies like DIGITNOW need to wake up and not attempt to fleece the consumer. Canada's Fluance doesn't fleece the consumer. Pro-ject doesn't fleece the consumer and neither does Audio-Technica, so if DIGITNOW wants to be competitive, it needs to improve the quality a bit, drop the price a bit, and build a better reputation of reliability.

*** I am not defending a fisherprice toy attempt. Since this uses AC power and has the possibility to be used in 240 volt 50 hz locations, and it uses a belt like the ATlp60 clones. All those provide clues that the possibility is real, that these can be calibrated to the wrong line frequency for the wrong country. Yes Amazon does blindly ship items with differing voltages. As for the original price, every company wants to get as much money as they can, before demand dies out from similar looking models.

Technics 1200 TT's these were STAPLES in radio stations-don't know how many of them I have set up and installed. You could buy them thru ANY electronics place or broadcast supplier-Broadcasters General Store and Broadcast Supply West comes to mind. And they sold for less then $500.Now that the "audiophools" have gotten the TT they grossely inflated the prices.

That cartridge is WAAY too far forward. You should never have to use it at its furthest forward setpoint. This turntable is a ripoff.

The minimum requirement for ripping a vinyl record must be at least 16 bit PCM without compression

Would love to have a recordology 45 adapter. Watcha take for her. You should also have one made out of aluminum.

It's sound is its only redeeming feature. The price point should be $65 to $90; it's not worth any more.

Since you mentioned Audacity in this video, here's a PSA: Do NOT download the latest version of Audacity. It's spyware now. Not a joke

Nope. I wouldn't buy one . Save up a few more pennies and get an Audio Technica, Fluance or a decent second-hand turntable instead. That thing is total rubbish and not worth it.
