@@DisBlaine I have only seen them on KZread, I have watched some great videos about the history of the dolls and just love their company. I do think their clothes are much nicer than American Girl. I wish they offered more! The dolls are just not my cup of tea… I have really tried to just love them but not so much. I do enjoy the journals and have one to put all the pages in from all of my orders! If I ever find one in the wild! I will let you know if I change my mind…

Hi Annette. I love Maplelea clothes so much they needed an entire video. But I don’t understand how other collectors love the dolls too. Maybe they’re better on their own, away from AG dolls.

My AG boy has a lot of Maplelea clothes, and they're fantastic. I also got the Pioneer Quebecoise heritage outfit for one of my AG girls, and it's so detailed! I love the journals.

Okay, but TRULY thank you for continuing to show different Maplelea outfits on AG dolls. I appreciate the different range of clothes you're showing, especially since different sets might fit in different ways. (How many times can I say "different" in two sentences?) I am so curious (and maybe this is something to add to your Q&A, if you haven't filmed it yet!) about two things for when you get new dolls - do you have a story in advance and then purchase dolls to fulfill it? Or do you get the dolls and then come up with their story? And then I'm also curious about, when you get new dolls, do you create a new diorama for them? So for your sisters, who clearly have their own story, does that mean you're going to create a diorama for them, too? And if that IS the case - how in the world do you fit it all?? I'm just so fascinated and amazed by your entire setup. The dolls look beautiful in the new outfits you picked out. I ADORE that cow. That cow is EVERYTHING. I feel like you should now hunt down Garnet, Caroline's cow, so that your cow can have a friend. And it's really nice to see that the clear wellies fit the AG dolls well; I really like being able to see fun socks through the boots so that it can create new designs, essentially, that match a particular outfit. Although the cow socks are also adorbs, so not sure how you could ever switch to the fun rainbowy socks. Even if they are fun and rainbowy. As for Maplelea dolls... it couldn't be me. I do think Saila is actually quite pretty, but most of the others are just not for me. But I grew up with American Girl (got my first doll when I was 7 in 1995), and so my brain is just mapped onto their features, and I do recognize that. And yes, I've heard of the Canadian tuxedo, but I also grew up in Michigan, only 30 minutes from the nearest crossing, and there were a lot of Canadianisms that were part of everyday life, so I can't say how widespread and understood it is.

I really didn’t know the clothes could fit so differently, so I’ve gotten lucky picking out the ones that do - aside from those adorable but horribly sized bunny shoes lol. I swapped them out for a pair of coral Mary Jane’s. I couldn’t stand the way they look lol. And nope I haven’t filmed my q&a yet because other videos keep bumping it. I’ll add those to the list - of the q&a that’s basically for you 🤣🤣🤣 I love the cow so much I’m getting the pony for the CYO boy in my cart whenever I put him through. I’m so impressed with that plastic skeleton!!! I feel like those boots were made for AG. They fit their feet better than Maplelea. Very strange - but I appreciate it if course! I might have to buy a other pair to show off the other socks on a different doll. After seeing this doll in person, I don’t think I’ll get Saila. This Brianne actually looks better in pics to me, so I don’t want to risk it. I got her so cheap and for the clothes. I’d hate to pay double for a doll I don’t love 🥴 Haha I used to wonder if Canadian tuxedo was an American expression to make fun of us being so honky-tonk and then we just liked it so we started saying it.

Oh good, I’m glad it helped! The quality is definitely wonderful, but it’s up to you if you like the way some of the clothes fit. And be very selective with the shoes! Those boots are absolutely perfect for AG tho (better than on Maplelea dolls I’m certain!

I have the clicky kneed cow (LOL !). Still unnamed. I don't really name my doll's animals (some do have names but most don't). I was surprised at the cost versus the quality. Cheaper here because I live in the USA. That dude is posable and I love it. Have the outfit, too but not the clear boots.

@@djg5950 yeah the clothes are so cheap even comparing them to the AG prices when Indigo carried them in Canada-and out do everything I own, I must say the quality is better. But I tend to want more of the AG designs.

RE: You sold me on the clothes, and as for the white shoes, my father in law was in the shoe business and owned a shoe store and the rule of thumb then (everything changes along with perspective) is the shoes should match the stockings or the pants, and your shoes match the tights and that might be an influence as to why is looks so good. Yeah the residential schools were closed down earlier in America than in Canada, so it might not be such a contentious topic among Native Americans the way it is among Canada’s First Nations.

I only have Saila and I find her beautiful by herself. When I put her with AG dolls, she looks a bit “off.” I think it’s whatever you’re used to. We’re used to AG and they look normal to us, other people think they look odd either way their big heads and eyes. 🤷🏻‍♀️. As you said, each to their own. I only have Saila’s meet outfit and one of her winter outfits. I really love the journal and the additional pages that come with the clothing and accessories.

You’re totally right. You have to acquire a taste for dolls, so I think I wouldn’t like Saila with my AG collection even if I rebodied her. Seeing this Maplelea doll in person made me realize that. I’ll continue to collect these amazing clothes tho!

I agree with you, as a fellow Canadian, love the quality of the Maplelea clothes and even the quality of the dolls but you were being polite I know regarding the face sculpts....I also would only get Saila and I do have an older version of Leonie I got at the thrift store.

Thanks for showing the cowboy outfit. I've been thinking about buying it but hesitated because some of the clothing is a bit too big for AG. They have shorter arms (AG), fatter calfs on their legs (some boots are a bit too tight to close the velcro if you tuck in the pants), wider and shorter feet. Those white shoes show the difference in the length of the Maplelea vs AG feet. Boots and closed shoes fit well. I've stuffed some tissue paper in the toes before (the kitty shoes with the kitty outfit - no longer available) so they fit better. Foot is about 1/2 inch shorter on AG dolls. I also like that red Buffalo Plaid jumper. On my list ever since I saw you open it in a previous video. I have a lot of Maplelea outfits and of the ones shown today I have the pink cow outfit and clicky cow (going to name him Clicky Cow, I think). He's a high quality stuffed cow for AG (18") dolls. My taste is different (sort of) from yours as I tend to buy the outdoorsy, gender neutral clothing. Have all of the new ones including that one you showed with the plaid blouse. I don't like the gray pants on girls so they are in the boy's clothing tote. I mix and match the clothing, AG, Maplelea, homemade, and different brands I buy on the internet (no Walmart My Life - except accessories - Snoopy and Hello Kitty and no Our Generation - Target. Too cheaply made and not worth the price). P.S. Because AG have shorter feet I haven't bought the clear boots yet but the socks will only show is the dolls is wearing clear boots. They don't look odd due to the length ? I'm guessing you put the socks on loosely or you could maybe even stuff them with tissue to make their feet look longer. I'll get them next order. Wished I could post photos on KZread comments so I could show people what I'm talking about.

P.S. I'm not a fan of the dolls either but really noticed how funny their hands were posed when you stood them side by side. Their hands are a lot smaller and they don't hang in a natural position. Check your video to see what I mean. Very strange.

Yeah those white shoes disappointed me so much when I got them. And they go so perfectly with the outift you can’t NOT wear them with it. I thought about stuffing the toes, so it’s funny you said that! Sorry I ruined the name of the cow for you 🤣🤣 but that plastic skeleton was a wonderful surprise. I’m glad I didn’t read that on the site before opening. Now I want the pony! About the clear boots, it’s weird, it seems like they’re made for AG feet! They fit her so perfectly I don’t see how they would fit Maplelea. I highly recommend!!!

I love the cowboy outfit I never saw that outfit before. I see a Maplelea order in my future. I love his "FIT" I am sad about the boots but still want the outfit. The denim vest is cute. I was thinking the pink cowboy boots would look great with the dress. Did you think about using the denim jacket (lol you said it while I was typing). The cow outfit is cute but I will skip the cow. The cowboy boots are really once they’re on-but that takes some work lol! I already had the denim jacket, so I stole it from that doll to put with this outift 😅 The cow is so cute I want the pony next, but animals take up a lot of room, so it’s a good idea to skip even if you like it. I just hope I didn’t hurt anyone’s feelings if they like the dolls 🥴

Awwww I’m sorry I ruined the Maplelea dolls for you! I’m sure it was better to find out this way. But yes, definitely try their clothes! I actually wish they had more. Oh and the animal friends are great too. If I ever come across one of the dolls I like for cheap, I’ll give them a try. I won’t pay full price after seeing one in person 😬

I've been interested in the Maplelea since I heard of them, and similarly I've been wanting to support them, but I just don't feel a connection with the dolls. I think there is something about the sculpt around their eyes that feels very wide (meaning, they give me the feeling that they are opening their eyes very wide) and I think that's what's throwing me off. I think, too, that because I am so accustomed to the AG dolls (which I have had since I was a child), those have become the "norm" so anything else feels "other" to me. I do love Saila tho. If I got any Maplelea doll, it would probably be her.

Saila is the only Maplelea doll I like and who I consider beautiful. I don't like the others, cos with their light skin tones, they have those weird crease marks around the eyes. I tried to take them off one doll and the face paint came off haha!

The Maplelea doll you showed is an older version, looks similar to my 2007 dolls but she might be older. If you check the back of the neck there will be two years one 2003-1 which was the release year and then as an example 2007- 3, meaning it Is from 2007 and the third batch/Verison of the doll. I find the newer dolls (2010+) are cuter looking and have better eye colour lip colour etc. but aside from Leonie, there hasn't been too drastic of a change. I think if you're not use to the look it takes a while to get use to them.

Wow good guess! The stamp on her neck is 2007-4, so she’s just a batch later than the doll you suggested. I think she’s so old she’s faded, because the paint on her eyelids is so pink compared to her skin. I hope Saila will restock this month like the site says, because I’ll give these dolls another chance with her. I think you’re right that I’m not used to the way these dolls look. I had to get used to AG at one time too!

Ii wish the would make their "18" doll clothes a bit more forgiving so that they could be used on other dolls as a better fit.

The white tights are fine with those shoes. Fashion rule is the tights should match the top of the shoes or the bottom of the dress. Of course that rule is from years back.
