I am so sorry this happened Blaine. You are taking it so well. Look at you, cleaning her and dressing her up anyway. It’s not Felicity’s fault after all. Your kindness and love will make her beam with beauty and she will have the story to tell how you saved her from that questionable seller. You can always get another one later on. Sometimes the dolls that we don’t love initially become special to us for other reasons. You don’t have to behave preciously with her. She is one you can play around with and style and have fun! It’s so funny to look back on the moment because I wanted that doll so bad I wasn’t being logical and kept truly believing she would correct her “mistake”. Even when she drove up with that last doll, I felt this relief I was so desperate to feel I still let myself be swindled because I wanted to. It’s hard to explain how weird it was lol

I remember, over a year ago, I wanted to get the Beforever Felicity doll, but AG nolonger sold her. So I went to ebay in hopes of finding her. Well, I saw one seller who had 5 left, and I figured the seller must have scooped them up at the benefit sale. I liked the face on the doll, and she was new in box. I almost bought her, but then it dawned on me that I might not be looking at the exact doll the seller would be sending me. So I found another one that was the only doll for sale. So, your story reminded me of this seller. The sellers don't really care when they have multiple dolls. I'm so sorry for your catfish doll. Makes a great story.

Bbeauty has a really pretty Felicity replacement wig on their website. If you send her to the AG doll hospital, they'll put a Mattell Felicity head on her. I've used the Bbeauty wig for Felicitys before and really like it - it's kind of a mix between Felicity and Elizabeth little pin curls, but the color is spot on original Felicity

Oh yes I was realllly upset when I got home and even as I started recording. But as I talked about it, I started to see humour in the absurdity. I did try my best to get that doll, but instead I got one who’s kind of special in her story and the lessons she taught me.

Isn’t it wild?? On one hand I felt stupid it happened to me but on the other I did try to correct the catfish. This was the third doll 🤣 Clearly she was not giving up that Felicity from the ad tho! I won’t stress about it more for now. I’ll probably keep her as is with one eye open for a wig and the other looking for a better Felicity. I would have been the same way since you have bought from her before! 😢 So regarding the white shoes with blue ribbons, it could be those are Mattel because Pleasant Company feet are much much larger than Mattel shoes (even when the company transitioned to Mattel, they were starting to change the size of the feet). No, that fan isn’t part of Felicity’s meet accessories-I’m not sure who it belongs to, perhaps Marie Grace’s. The doll hospital say just exchanges heads so if you sent her in, you’d get a new head not a new wig. Your Samantha is gorgeous!! What year is she? My childhood Samantha is from 1989 and she looks like a ghost compared to all my other AG dolls 😅 Nevermind about the shoes, I see you were able to make them fit 😊

@@DisBlaine So in the AG dolls circles I used to follow, transitional means when Mattel bought American Girl so dolls made from 1998 to 2001 are called transitional because they were slowly being changed from thicker Pleasant Company bodies/larger feet (and made in Germany, I believe) to the thinner bodies, different vinyl, smaller feet and made in China. That’s what I thought it means but perhaps I’m wrong. I had been out of the AG fandom for a while 😅

I'm sorry that this happened. What a (you-know-what!) You're taking it like a champ. To think she came back 3 times too... that takes a lot of nerve. SMH. Good for you for taking care of her and cleaning her up. Maybe a good boil wash will help freshen her hair up a little bit.

I am in full love of my 1990's Felicity and that's why I bought the Kit I did... but I was definitely not shown the problems with my Kit and she will need limb replacement. Just a limb swap to get rid of a dark purple mark all the tricks have not lightened and wasn't disclosed to me in any picture and her legs are very lose when the listing said "all limbs tight".... but she was my "last doll" for my collection... I have 6 historical girls I'm in love with their stories and one modern 2016 GOTY Lea Clark for fun fashion since my historicals are not allowed to dress outside their era (my weird rule, no one elses) and 2016 is my daughter's birth year and none of my dolls were new... Carolina I purchased from someone who had just got her back from the hospital so she had a new wig, but all the rest were used... not perfect, but enough they look good and I still don't worry about taking them on adventures like dressing Rebecca as "Rose" and taking her to the Titantic exhibit or doll teas with my daughter. I am a little dimmed by my Kit experience, but I try to look at it that it wasn't her fault and obviously someone didn't appreciate her to lie about her condition to get rid of her, so I will love and appreciate her... because she was meant for my little doll family however she came.

I love the yellow dress and hat! I am a hairstylist, and when I have had dolls with hair like that, I have done the boil wash, then shampooed and conditioned, and let it air dry. It always comes out smooth and shiny. You can also put a heat protectant product, and flat iron in small sections on a low setting. 😊

Yeah I’m really happy with the clothes. Those are good tips I can try to follow… on a doll whose wig doesn’t have chunks cut out of it 😵‍💫😆 I think I disguised it enough with the gel but it’s almost layered.

That sucks. I would resell her even if it is for a loss and to use that money to buy another one.

Rewig her. Best you can do. There’s a good chance that AG will be releasing Felicity in the future and hopefully, she’ll be close to the PC version. Her fashions are amazing. If you purchased her from a FB seller, you can always give a bad review if she hasn’t blocked you and if that is something you want to pursue.

I can help you with the hair situation. First, shampoo all of the product out of her hair with dawn (blue) dish soap only. No conditioner and no wig spray afterwards. Use only a water mister to brush out after. It's plastic hair. No need to add moisture. I use a few sprays of aussie flora aura scent spray because it adds a bit of scent, hold and shine while wet. Then I will fingerwave, or pincurl or even do the wrap around a pen curl method to hair such as hers because of uneven texture. Use bigger pens or pencils and do thicker wraps for a less curly, more wavy curl pattern, around it the slide the pen out and use a Bobby pin to hold it till dry. Gently slide out pins after dry and finger sort curls or even brush them out. Use a water mist to tame any frizz.

@DisBlaine it can actually create mold inside the head of your doll. Gross right? Lol. Grease will do nothing to help her hair. Heat can help but I would only recommend using a streamer if you want to help heat set the curl. I don't find it makes a difference but some do it. I would set her in the sun to dry if you can after washing to dry the inside of the head as well as the outside. If you lived in Arizona I'd gladly have you over and we could give her a spa treatment. Lol from an old cosmetologist.

I had a doll with long hair that was a mess a big dry long to the but mess. I washed, conditioned, and then put Argon oil on it brushing and combing in long strokes on the ironing board on her back with her hair spread out. I just kept working it and working it over a few days letting the Argon oil gradually get absorbed into WET hair. Its shinny and beautiful now just waiting to be set. It can be done if you like her enough. CHI oil for hair is the brand I used. It was a Kanani doll. That hair is long and it was a tangled dry dry mess. You know a stylist that works with wigs may be able to do something for her wig too. Just a thought. And for me for you is that your disappointment is in the seller' integrity, is human nature and that extended to the doll. Who knows maybe the Universe gave you that doll as the other one had bad vibes.

I’ll definitely keep argon oil in mind for dolls whose wigs don’t have chunks cut out. That sounds good for general doll hair maintenance actually! I guess Felicity could be a good practice doll. Well this was awful especially when you are in person! Not catfishing, "the process of luring someone into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona." More like bait and switch or being dishonest. I just about got scammed selling on Marketplace by someone who wanted a doll held and sent me an "e-transfer" to hold. It was a bogus e-transfer web page. My bank called me as I was trying to deposit in my account (I have auto deposit) good thing the bank had my back 😅

You are correct those are not her stockings. I don't have Felicity but I like the tea dress as I have her tea set. I have been looking for a shoe horn for dolls. I also really need one for putting on shoes over stockings! If you find one, let me know. Honestly, I can't even figure out why the seller pulled a switch unless she no longer had the right doll. I hate having to buy from Ebay, but as a buyer, you have recourse by leaving a negative review. I DON'T HESITATE TO SO NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN BURNED! I have faith that you will eventually find another doll that you really love! PC Felicity is not rare. My Felicity came with bad hair and had to be rewigged. At the time, I could not find the more auburn one that is correct, so my girl has a more bright red wig. Being that it wasn't the original color used to bum me out, but now it seems to suit her better! The pin curls were easy to do with a boil dunk. In the future, I would politely let sellers know you have a You-tube channel. If that doesn't get you the respect you deserve, I don't know what will! Unfortunately, there are lots of people who think it's OK to be deceitful! Needless to say, you will sleep better at night if you keep your good heart!❤ Thank you, Blaine!

I bet you doll sized shoe horns exist! We can’t be the only ones who’d want one lol. I’ll keep an eye out for a real one or a good substitute. As for the doll switch, isn’t that wild?! This has experience has taken some of my innocence 🤣 I really had no idea this could happen. In fact I thought buying second hand was the best option since you’d know ahead of time what dollar you’re getting. And believe me, she switched the doll heads. This is definitely the body from the listing. I didn’t want to show it on camera because it looks obscene, but there’s a crease in the body that looks like something an anatomically correct girl doll might have if you know what I mean. So she has the doll… or 2 with that weird crease I guess. But now that I know this exists as a risk, I can be smarter when I buy. And be grateful this didn’t happen before with a more expensive doll!!

The Bookmark quote must be something Pleasant Roland said and but it on the back of the Felicity bookmark. It must be from actual pleasant company. I had a Addy bookmark that AG sent me after I wrote them a letter. It had illustration of Addy on it and on the back it talked about Addy and to read her books

I think it’s from one of felicity’s books because its in quotes and says ‘Felicity said”. I should’ve put it closer to the camera

I think the other socks you put on with Felicity Christmas dress might have been Elizabeths or different historical dolls socks

Someone may have said this already, but I am 99% sure the doll hospital swaps their heads (when you send them for a new wig). It's why I've never sent my childhood Felicity in, because her hair is wrecked (because I was a child who knew nothing abt taking care of a doll 😂) But I don't want them to change her head to a Mattel head.

I hear ya! I have been f****d over by people on eBay quite a bit. The worst being I paid two hundred bucks for a new I.T. Poppy Parker, and the seller never sent me the doll. Worst yet, eBay did nothing about it. Saying "The item in question does not qualify for their money back quarantee. So try to work it out with the seller." Fat chance ... the seller will not respond to my e-mails.

WHAT?? I thought eBay always takes the side of the buyer-even when they’re the ones pulling the scam. I can’t believe that happened. Did you pay through credit card? I was able to fight a charge that way once. I’ve only been scammed as a seller, so I’m always as careful as possible when I sell. That is so wild Kevin! Is this still ongoing or closed in eBay’s books?

@@DisBlaine Hey, I paid by credit card, but through Pay Pal's "Pay in 4" payment plan. I even explained the situation to Pay Pal. They didn't refund any of my payments and kept taking further payments. Briefly: It was one month after the delivery date of my package, I was supposed to receive it by Oct. 27, 2023. My confirmation form showed the package was never even sent off to me. I told eBay, they supposedly checked into, in the meantime I kept e-mailing the seller and no response. ebay gave it about two weeks for me to resolve the issue, let them know, then they closed my case. That was this past Dec. The kicker is ... eBay has the audasity to keep e-mailing me survey forms about my experience of doing business with them!! Ain't THAT a bitch?!

Fun Fact...while the catalog always pictured Felicity in her blue Christmas Dress under her Cardinal Cloak, the book cover always had the cloak over her Work Dress.

@@DisBlaine Her movie Gala gown is more Christmas colors with berry red and glittering gold. The Blue one goes with the book...Felicity and Elizabeth get invited to a Christmas ball, and Felicity's mom makes the blue gown for her, but her mom ends up getting sick and giving birth to her baby sister...can't remember how the dress got finished though...🤔

@@DisBlaine My mom read the 1st 6 characters stories when I was in school. I recently almost finished rereading Kirsten's 6 books. I'm on the last. I'm also working through Maryellen's books. My personal opinion is if it was during the 6 book set days to get those books, and if it was after the BeForever rebrand to get the BeForever books. With exception to the 4 newest characters (Claudie, the Hoffman Twins and Courtney) all the other historical characters books are now abridged. For Maryellen, they deleted ALL 4 chapters of her Christmas story. I like Maryellen's books, because her author was on of the original authors from the beginning, so she kept the old format of meet, school, Christmas, birthday, etc. for Maryellen.

Felicity wears her under shift/dress under all her Clothes including her night gown it's her underwear of the 1770s

😢So upset for you! I can hear the disappointment in your voice. The doll has a pretty face, probably not as pretty as the original in listing, but she is very Pleasant Company. Advice: When you go to an AG store for future visit, take her to the hair salon and get a fancy hairdo that will do justice to her pretty face. Let the experts help, dolls come in all the time looking chopped haired and the magic those salons perform are amazing! I had something similar happen when I bought my Felicity, but I grew to love her and keep her displayed at all times. Hope that helps. Once her hair is styled by AG, you will really feel better.

Aww thank you! I was very lucky that someone was kind enough to donate a Felicity wig. Your idea is great. I’m curious now to know how they could fix this wig, it’s amazing that they could. So now this doll just has a unique story to go along with her.

She’s got the squishy vinyl head and the PC stamp on her head, I forgot to show those things. I don’t know why she has no curls 💔

Honestly catfishing is really sad but there are worse things as conterfeit ag dolls are out there and so m e people have told me they can't tell the difference 💔
