    I think it's hilarious seeing Ravenform here. When the card was first spoiled, I was on the hype train. I was like "this thing is legacy playable in U or UB decks" and people were like "you have no idea what's legacy playable" and they were of course right, it didn't see any play; but here it is, months later.

    Isn't Mishra's Bauble strictly better than Urza's (obviously assuming they have no shuffle effects, which was the case many times you made the decision)? Knowing their 8th card is strictly better than knowing a random card. It gives you the added information about what choices were/were not available to them before this turn. hello mr magician, have you ever considered energy flux in bant? the last 500 buck challenge it seemed like there was some tension about when seeds should come down for fear of a rebuild, but i can't imagine a deck like this can play through energy flux very easily, and the mono-u version basically can't remove it. haven't seen the card outside vintage but watching hammer time try to play through kataki made me think

  • @BoshNRoll

    The problem with Energy Flux is that while it is better against 8-Cast specifically, it’s terrible against D&T, Stoneblade, Jeskai Rag, Lands, and other not-all-in Saga decks that cards like Seeds and Deed are great against.

  • @MrTheAnalrapistMD

    @MrTheAnalrapistMD

    Why is it called 8-Cast and not 8-Thought? I definitely didn't understand the name until this video. You've tended to play against versions with Echo in other videos, so I had the strange thought the "8 cast" was "cast Echo plus the 7 cards you draw"? Thoughtcast is an old, established card. that's been played in decks like this for almost 20 years. Thought Monitor is the new hotness. Monitor is Thoughtcast 5-8, thus 8-Cast. I suppose if you don't have that historical perspective 8-Thought makes more sense. Legacy players love nostalgia.

    I think it's best against control decks. It's an endless stream of creatures that can tax their removal until they deal with the foundry itself. I disagree with that statement. Opal is worse against grindy decks because it's a bad topdeck if you already have an Opal and a bad topdeck if they've ground you off metalcraft. The longer a game is likely to go, the fewer Opals I want. Lotus Petal is always +1 Artifact or +1 mana. The second Opal is frequently neither.

    This conversation comes up every time I do it. I feel you. The way YT works, most people will scroll past the title and thumbnail for 1 second and you only have that 1 second to grab their attention out of a field of other thumbnails trying to do the same. Almost 90% of my views come from non-subscribers using the browse feature. Saying "UNDEFEATED!" gets that attention and earns their clicks SIGNIFICANTLY more than if I don't say it. Those browse feature clicks turn into views, subs, ad revenue, donation decks, patreon supporters, and all of the other things that keep this channel on the air. The average view duration of my daily, hour+ long videos is ~20 minutes. The vast majority of people don't even make it to the end. Getting a viewer for the first minute is a higher priority than keeping them until the last minute. I wish I could appropriately hype the video to bring in new viewers without spoiling for the entrenched viewers who watch from start to finish and enjoy the sweat. When forced to make that choice, I'm going to grow the channel every time. That ultimately benefits everyone the most because if this endeavor isn't moving forward I'll have to stop doing it entirely. I'm not a full-time creator or pro Magic player. I do this in my free time after doing my day job. It has to continue to be worth the hours I put into it. I'm sure we can all agree that an occasionally-spoiled ending is better than no new content. Also on the more high-minded artistic side: I make these videos to entertain people while they get better at Magic. Winning and losing are (usually) not a significant aspect of my content. I hope folks can enjoy the plays, laugh at the jokes, and learn something about the deck/format even if they know the outcome. Update edit: This video is going strong at #2 among my recent uploads, trailing just behind absolute banger Teferi Vacation. This will easily break 20K views within a week. Most of my videos settle around 10K. It is a reliable and significant analytics boost to hype the trophy run. 2nd Update 3 hours later: This is now firmly #1 among recent releases.
