    People talk about how DRS wasn't a problem, and how Ragavan isn't a problem. It's a "git gud scrub lolololol" situation from the neckbeard community that says he's fine. He is another one drop creature that does WAY too much for WAY too little. It's card advantage, mana advantage, and resource denial all in one card. DRS was at least less egregious in that it took a turn to activate, and had to have material in the yard to work. Doesn't change the fact that it's a one mana planeswalker. Rag is just a poorly designed card for Legacy, and I can't wait until WotC finally sees that he's a problem and does the right thing. And if he goes, I would still not mind to see Daze go too.

    also: i'm not sure if you've mentioned this, but if you're on Seeds of Innocence in the SB, Collector Ouphe is probably better than Null Rod, to avoid the awkward scenarios where you want to both cast Seeds and keep the effect. I also think Deafening Silence is better in place of Canonist at the moment, as it hits both storm and 8cast. Silence getting hit by Chalice can be a little awkward, but I think between the Endings and Witherblooms you should be able to ignore Chalice for the most part, giving Silence more reach than Canonist

    Has anyone thought of playing Kataki, War's Wage in Legacy against these Saga decks? It's like Tabernacle for their artifacts, and is essentially a Tabernacle for the Constructs, but it hurts them pretty bad on the early turns. I know it's just a 2/1, but that's a solid beats plan that can slap the construct plan by knocking them off mana, and it can stop the second construct by making them pay for the first, as well as making it so they may not be able to pay for the tutor target as well. It also interacts REALLY well against the 8 Cast decks by ruining their mana base.

  • @BoshNRoll

    @BoshNRoll

    2 жыл бұрын

    Kataki is powerful early on, but in the later game they have enough mana to pay for their constructs and a few artifacts to keep bashing. Something like Collector Ouphe to turn their mana all the way off or Seeds of Innoncence/Pernicious Deed/Dress Down are more reliable tools for the job.

    @@BoshNRoll and playing enough Kataki to ensure you're drawing it live isn't worth the games where you don't have it. Would a split of Ouphe and Kataki be a viable thought to try? At 16:05 you talk about either casting Veil then Deed or Deed and then Fluster if they have a force, but decide against it because they could pay for the fluster. My question is, couldn't you just cast Deed first, then Veil if they force you? That way you get the card off Veil and they can't pay their way out of it like they could with Fluster. I'm sure there's a good reason and I'm just missing it :P EDIT: Maybe playing around Force into Daze on the veil? EDIT2: Daze on Veil literally happened later that same game, so that's probably what I wasn't considering, hah!

  • @BoshNRoll

    @BoshNRoll

    It’s about safety vs greed. The blowout play is Deed first, Veil the Force for the 3-for-1 then Deed for another 2-for-1 (virtual 5-for-1 with what the Sagas represent) and leave them in the dust. But if they have Force and Daze, you lose your Deed and your Veil and get buried by Sagas. But if you Veil first, you put it on them to “now or never” with their counterspell. If Veil resolves you get to KNOW your Deed is cleaning up the board. If they Force the Veil you get to 2-for-1 them there then reasses the risk of casting Deed or spending a turn deploying Narset to Deed in the future.

    My answer would be when they have a Force or pact themselves. Even though force hits more things and exiles, fluster requires veil, second fluster, or trap to stop. Most combo decks, especially when you see Delta require an instant or sorcery to go off. And a majority of those that wouldn't thoughtseize you turn 1 also run protection of their own. Doomsday is a great example of this. Force runs better against fair matchups in comparison to fluster in that sense because it can still hit artifacts and enchantments, but also 2 for 1ing yourself in a fair matchup is not where you want to be.

    This matchup is primarily about Exploration. You can out-grind lands with the tools in your deck, but not if they're pulling ahead on overall resources. They also occasionally have Choke as a hammer out of the board. Unless I'm dead on board to the construct or have a counter for the next engine card, I'd save ending for those.

    Imagine a poor take on how control decks play, and this is it. It's not "no one plays Magic," it's about shutting down the opponent's game while advancing your own. If you want a "no one plays Magic deck" then look at Legacy Stax or Landstill. Landstill is LITERALLY no one plays anything and you beat ass with Constructs, and if they DO play anything, they gas your hand to deny their plays. There's a reason the matches he plays go to under 10 minutes on his end, and frequently less time in some matches because of the amount of Magic being played.
