Nice simple solution. A couple of things to end up with a better outcome. 1. When you measure the blade to the miter slot, mark a tooth on the blade when you take your first measurement, then rotate the blade to the other side of the table top and take your second measurement. This way you avoid false readings from blade's run out. 2. When you measure your fence, you have other to take measurements using the same miter slot you used for measuring the blade or measure the two miter slots for parallelism. If you don't then your blade and fence alignment would be as good as the deviation of the two miter slots.

For runners in your miter slots, try using that PVC "wood" instead of hardwood. I rip it to correct size just as you would a piece of wood. It doesn't fluctuate with the humidity like wood runners do.

I just spent 2 1/2 hours using different aluminum parts trying to attach my wen indicator to my kreg miter jig with the clamp that holds it by the front rod. I fell like an idiot not thinking about the bottom hole and all the extra oak table slot runner strips I made future shit. Would have taken me 20 minutes had I just been as smart as you. Anyway my table saw blade was super wobbly so I fixed it 2 days ago and aligned it with a square. Got my dial indicator today and was in .002 so I call that a win. Or wen. Also I didn't realize until today my blade axle sounds magnificently smooth. I think I did something right for once.

Yeah, those Woodpecker jigs are around $130 now. I made one out of wood, a piece of PVC pipe and a dial indicator.

All other mark the blade and then spin it to other side to ensure any warp in blade does not give false reading.

I'm building this today. I'm using my CNC to make a dado into some birch plywood, inserting a piece of 3/8"×3/4" UHMW friction free plastic as the miter slot bar, and I've got one threaded insert to use as a bolt receiver too. Thanks for the idea!!

Unfortunately its NOT the same thing, the whole point of the woodpeckers gage is ABSOLUTE accuracy. This is purpose of the metal “dowels” that fit in the miter slot, it fits in ANY miter slot and centers the gage NO MATTER WHAT. Your gage is cool, but no different from any number of cheap table saw alignment solutions on the market. It works, and is good enough, but in my opinion the woodpeckers solution is far superior, plus they were awarded a patent for it

Patents have no bearing on the efficacy of a solution. it just acknowledges that some thing has not been done before and so gives the inventor protection of that design. I don't agree with Robert, the more accurate your tools are the better. But the woodpecker solution would actually not be any more accurate than this solution for you own table saw. Unless you offer a travelling table saw calibration service or have multiple table saws and little time this solution is perfect.

It's good to see woodglut have new instructions to save my money and energy to build it.
