    I won’t say the best but the most popular top tier Caviar are from Iran and Russia. For let me share where Michelin chef secretly buy their Caviar from which is next level. No one will ever guess it. It is a well kept secret. It Quzhou in China. Super high grade caviar like no other. Try it when you have a chance and you’ll know why top chef hunts Quzhou caviar

    Thanks for this video. I watched this a few months ago and tried ossetra and Kaluga caviar soon after. Caviar by itself is probably my favorite way to eat because you get to taste it purely. But I found that a lightly salted thin potato chip with creme fraiche may be my favorite accompaniment.

    for my dads 70s bday back in April - i ordered us (mom, dad and me) a Caviar service (Michael minas, Bellagio vegas.) i admit - it wasn't what i expected.. was thinks the fish-egg thingies and some crackers.. but they brought out this kind of spread.. and a shot of vodka for each!!!! i had no idea what to do.. Mom and dad either... we'd never really had it before except in a parfait form a couple of times?.. and yea - i asked the maitre d' - "er.. how do we eat this?" guy was so nice, gave us a basic walk though. mom and I loved it - dad thought the blinis were too thick/over powering.

    Thank you, Johan. When I began my caviar journey, I was very fortunate to taste various caviars and found my favorite from the white sturgeon. After trying them with various fixes, I settled on thin potato toasts with a small bit of creme fraiche and chive tips finished with a deeply chilled very smooth, silky, vodka . I noticed you were careful not to smear it around and mash it into your fixing and crisps. I've seen a lot of that. But I love to build it up, bring the topping into my mouth and take a small nibble of the toast an its edge. I want to taste the chilled buttery firmness of the caviar and then sip the vodka. I love this way!

    I truly enjoy Caviar. I live in a very small town, aka, the Sticks! I had a wealthy neighbor who owned property about a mile away that may have been under the impression that those of us who lived here full-time were a bit underprivileged. They were part-time residents. She introduced me to Caviar and taught me different ways to eat it. I love it, but my wife hates it so I only get to serve it during the holidays once in a while. I just learned about the spoons though and will be purchasing a couple of nice serving spoons. Thank you for the lesson. I will try it on toast next time!

    Thanks for this video! My husband and I discovered caviar this summer in Europe and we LOVED it. We bought some for Christmas and New Years and it was such a great treat. For new years, I remembered what you said about potato chips, but I have to say for those of us in North America (I'm US-based), Kettle-brand sells an UNSALTED potato chip! I picked a bag in the store today and we're going to try it for new Years Eve! Along with toast, blinis, and latkes! So far our favorite way is unsalted butter on toast points, or straight from the spoon. Looking forward to trying some we are having some kaluga and ossetra. For Christmas we loved the American White Sturgeon caviar very much! Thank you from new caviar lovers!

    Oh my goodness, what a feast you are going! How did it turn out. I love the idea of unsalted chips with caviar because the crunch is a wonderful texture with the caviar. I will have to try that. I can say that toast points, butter and caviar is a favorite. Even just soft boiled egg with a dab of caviar is scrumptious. So many ways, I love getting creative and I can tell you do too! Thank you so much for sharing!

    Loved this! Could you do a video on assessing caviar quality/value? Sometimes everyone is so impressed by the type, but I don’t have much reference to understand the levels of quality. As a side note, I recently had Iranian beluga caviar, and everyone was so complementary. But to me, it was fishier, saltier, and smaller than others I’ve had (like Osetra) before. It confused me! Apparently it was hugely expensive, but I guess I prefer the “cheaper” kind😅 Based off your video, it really shouldn’t have been that salty… but it was served with chips, which I think added to that, and I definitely prefer blinis! They said it was about 30k/kilo, which seemed steep to say the least, and I kind of wonder if they got taken for a ride on the price…

  • @TheDapperSwede

    @TheDapperSwede

    I love your comment, suggestions and insights into your own experience. Thank you for sharing! And based on your experience, I would be puzzled too. If you truly spent money for the finest caviar, I would certainly not serve it with chips. The extra salt will counter the finest caviar. And I personally don’t worry so much what is the most expensive and that’s certainly not my draw. If i enjoy something, it doesn’t have the be the most expensive. Although good quality caviar is rarely inexpensive. So if the price is such a large conversation about the caviar (since the hosts told you the price,) then I am not sure it’s an appreciation of the actual caviar as much as the status it shows. Then it’s the same function has logos, designers, cars and such.

    come on it comes in a tin, and you use a mother of pearl spoon - might taste better in a jar

    There’s lots of options of caviar that comes in jars, so that’s for sure an option. And generally I would agree with your point, but caviar is not canned in regular tins. Caviar tins have been been coated on the inside to ensure there’s no reaction between the metal and the caviar.

    What if I don't like fish, or sushi, or anything that tastes fishy??? I hear it described as buttery and nutty but no one honestly says if its fishy!!! I'll get grossed out if it is..be honest, please. Is it fishy tasting?

    Dear Toby, I understand your concern, however, it’s hard to anticipate how you will find the taste. To me it doesn’t taste “fishy” because caviar has a very different taste than fish to me. But on the other hard, it does have a flavor reminiscent of the sea, so maybe that could be taken as “fishy”. If curious, I would say you might just have to try it and see. Maybe start with caviar as a garnish on something you enjoy. Maybe deviled eggs with a bit of caviar on top. Maybe you will like it, but if not, that’s ok too. Caviar is not everyone’s taste and there are many other amazing food items to enjoy. I personally don’t enjoy all, so called delicacies, and that’s perfectly ok.

    And maybe truffles might be more your taste, I have an Ultimate Beginners Guide to Truffles also, you might want to check out. The flavor of truffles is woodsy and not the slightest fishy.

    @@TheDapperSwede Thanks, I think if I try some it'll be a high end caviar,, I heard they should be less fishy than the less expensive ones.
