Seemed so off eating the eggs just out of the body while in the 'operating theatre', where not long ago they were performing an ultrasound on them. I'm not a vegetarian, but as a person with a woman's body, it doesn't sit right. I know to many people it makes sense from the beginning as technology going into food production, but it was so creepy seeing something that happens to mothers, going straight to seeing her ovaries or eggs taken out of her dead corpse. And while still on the operating bed and eaten by the surgeons. Seasoned even.

Jason Orr - If you feel disgusted by them slaughtering a fish for caviar try doing research into how your meat is grown. It's a living creature that they've killed specifically for its eggs but they are raising those fish for that specific purpose. They are doing it in a more sustainable way than fishing for the sturgeon traditionally which in this very video is mentioned to be a danger to the species of fish. If you're going to eat something you need to find a way to grow it in a sustainable manner or you will eat it to extinction. It's not the first time humans have done it but it seems that at least Gordon Ramsay is looking for a place that is as concerned about the problem as he is. I would rather have farm raised animals on my table than hunting a creature to extinction.
@user-ub6eu8tc1r
6 жыл бұрын
+Jason Orr What doesn't give them the right? There is no utility in prohibiting the farming of caviar.
10,000 pounds for 14 years of work sounds about right even though I've always thought it was way overpriced. I'm imagining they are more expensive because of the amount of extra work that goes into it

Caviar is VERY much affected by supply and demand... when you have to wait a decade and a half for the caviar to be produced, it's honestly not that bad a price LOL
@PRubin-rh4sr
Жыл бұрын
Now, lobsters on the other hand... are in the similar situation as gems. Companies inflated its price so much and it just stayed that way despite the considerably low cost of harvesting compared to the revenue. Besides its their own fault that supply decreased: overharvesting.

This is why trying to find other optimal sources for caviar or anyfood that is hard to come by (safely for the population of the animal) is SO important, having a delicacy that can be farm safely and well regulated is a godsend
I like the way Gordon has to bounce up and down while explaining something. I also like the way he makes a dish with caviar, like us normal people can afford it! I'd bet that small plate of food would cost in excess of $100!
@jporrasedit
6 ай бұрын
There are alternatives to surgeon caviar that are good enough to replicate that dish and are fairly inexpensive. I've tasted caviar and I love it but it's at it's best when it's the star of the show. For a salad or a sauce I personally use Mujol "caviar", from a similar fish. Bigger, less creamy eggs but you can get 100gr for 6€ so you can really go to town with it.

Love the highlight on sustainability. And the farmers who have these farms take such care of their fish because it takes so long to yield a product so they maintain close eyes on everything. Imagine having millions of dollars lost because something goes wrong in terms of the temp water, feeding, isolating, knowing when a fish is ready...takes a lot of patience but the price for the sale is worth it.

Notice how Gordon gets so close to people and leans into them I don't think he realizes how personal that is to be in someone's space But he does it to emphasize his passion He wants you to feel it as he does Hope he keeps a pocket full of breath mints Shot out to him tho

If you see this gorden ramsey, im a 10byr old who loves to cook. I love my special cloud eggs. Whisk up eggs, put a table spoon of butter, while the egg cooks, scoof it up with a spatula sobit doesnt overcook in parts. When you do that it becomes a soft but fully cooked dish of scrambled eggs! Id love to see some people add twists of their own seasoning in. That recipe is a baseline ❤
