Great Britain does get to control what goes into their country 🙂 I think they said there was 10,000 pounds sterling worth of cocaine in the baseballs so this wasn't an innocent person sending innocuous goods into Britain. 🙂 The British constitution is unwritten, but I'm sure there is an equivalent concept to the 5th amendment "nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;", but the key part is "due process of law" right? The package was scanned in a non-destructive manner and found to be suspicious, so they have "just cause" to search. Also if drugs are not found, one is owed compensation under the 5th Amendment (and whatever the British equivalent is) also. 🙂

No arguing, tantrum & not only did she smile, she explained what happened to her child & why she signed the paper. But the very best part was, even after a long flight, her little boy never whined as they were going through things with customs, followed his Mom w/o being told to & he even handled his own suitcase. He looked to be around 6-7. She must be an EXCELLENT parent!!!! Ma'am, if you & your son ever think of visiting or immigrating to the US, (Why not move here? I have a pretty clean background and have worked to maintain in all my teenage and now adult life. But I have this irrational fear of being framed for something. So I get a bit fidgety when i have to pass thru detectors at shops (I even go out of my way to show my receipt of purchase when I exit) and of course through customs. It's always a scary thought knowing you didnt do anything, havent tampered with anything but you might get blamed for something. Like the prev episode I watched, a couple's luggae was detected to have traces of cocaine despite not being in possession of any. It may be that during their travels that mightve crossed paths with people who use it, and it contaminated their belongings. Worst nightmare honestly

I cant believe what some people think they can get through customs. I went on a cruise to south America. People we talked to said they bought 2 POUNDS of pot in Belize. They couldn't wait to get back home to show their friends. We asked them what they thought was gonna happen at customs. "Customs? what do you mean" well you have to go through customs when we get back to Florida. We didnt see them for the rest of the week and the whole damn hall reeked of pot.

Idk... I accidentally brought a machete along in my carry on one time. We were in Belize and it was over father's day. I got the machete as a present to bring back for my dad. Long story but it made sense to temporarily stick the machete in the bag I used as my carry on bag on the way home. I meant to repack some things once I got my larger bag back but things happened and we were distracted and in a big rush. We make it to DFW, go through customs & TSA. Get to the gate for our connecting flight and I decide to fish something out of my carry on. I open it and slam it shut right away. Machete sitting right there on top of everything. No one caught it. Wtf. Apparently (at least at the time... close to 10 years ago) the TSA is notoriously awful at actually catching things in bags that aren't allowed in an airport. Meanwhile, going through TSA for a domestic flight... they found my tiny little pocket knife that I forgot was burried at the bottom of my purse. They said "you can mail it to yourself" ... "it costs $50"... I had to throw it away. Another time I made it through TSA with a keychain knife that has a 2+ inch blade. All of this happened at different airports. The cruise we went on a few years ago, I accidentally smuggled in two cans of beer in the side pocket of my camera bag. Lol!
