@@beeble2003 That's an excellent idea. There is a shop in the area where I shop. It is run by 3 asylum seekers. Only recently did I learn that they sell cigarettes and tobacco, all of it illegally brought in. I notified the authorities and they quietly did a sneaky check on the shop. They discovered that the men had a string of young women who flew abroad, bought case loads of cigarettes, and sneaked them in. Police watched them for weeks, before catching the women and invading the shop. They found a massive quantity of cigarettes. The whole thing was run by a group of asylum seekers and all were arrested. 5 have since been deported.

My big case went back and forth through on the conveyor belt. Until I explained, "me go shopping in Dublin for clothes etc" they just laughed and nodded. @@onlineamiga back in the 80s i lived in a socialist country, everything was scarce so on those rare times we went to the UK we would stock up on Cadbury's chocolate of all things. Dad would put a few bars of the cheapest ones on top of the clothes in the luggage, with the rest hidden below. Obviously the customs guy would stop us and he would glance at my father when opening the luggage and quickly pocket the exposed chocolate and then let us through customs without a single word.

You do not think it could be that 4-5 border enforcement agents were running at the group so that was why he knew there was an issue and not necessarily he knew there were cigarettes in the bags? What dubber logic that guy has. Granted he may have known but the fact he wanted to distance himself from people who are getting busted for something does not make him an accomplice and it certainly does not point to him knowing exactly what was in the bag or even that he knew ahead that there was something wrong.

Also the only reason they got to the car was the security let them... so kinda seemed even more like they baited them to get the car too (but yeah maybe they had a good reason for it... but it just didn't seem so as they seemed similar to all of the other cigarette smugglers).

Don’t feel bad. My stuff is always being searched and I’ve been tested for bomb residue many times due the the medications I carry and I take up to 2 liters of fluids on my carry on and several more liters in checked baggage ( I’m on home IV hydration so when I fly they go with). I get patted down and checked for bomb residue. I guess I’m just used to it by now.

I went thru TSA a couple years after 9/11, I hardly ever fly before or since. So, here I am, Mr. Naive country boy and I am in line. I see ppl taking off shoes, I think, "I forgot about that", then, "damn shoulda wore flip flops". We get closer and the lady at the x ray machine is super pissy ... Then I notice her throwing out fluids, and the agents are like on edge about it AND OF COURSE I have these full shampoo bootles. So to be proactive, I just go over to the trash cans they have scattered around and throw out ALL my fluids. Little, Big, whatever. THAT makes the TSA gal in the lobby even more aggravated "Why are you throwing all that out??" Almost aggressive on me, so I just bark back," I have no idea of the carry on rules, I never fly, but I am tired of being in line, Walmart sells everything I need when I land, so..... it all goes in the trash. " That really ticks her and her TSA buddies off. They come over in a group, before they speak, I say, "guys listen, the managers here put 5 trash cans in this lobby so people can throw their own stuff out and the line moves faster" "I just threw mine out, you want that I should take it out of the trash?" They didnt like that either. Now that I'm older and wiser, I just UPS my stuff to the hotel and carry a very small overnight bag. And I wear Jesus sandals.
