My mistake: Letting my anxiety dictate what I’m going to do, example: too anxious to go out in public thus I didn’t go out in public (this only reinforces the anxiety)

I feel like I’ve recovered so much, I use to get 10+ panic attacks a day and couldn’t even leave my bed. I can function now but I’m still just not clicking back. Almost like I’ve hit a plateau. Everyone still feels like strangers and unreal. Like I don’t even understand/ remember what normal life is. But I don’t freak out about it. But still not coming back 100%. Frustrating :/

Jordan, got this for a long time, worked me out of the intense experience part and learned to live with the last 20% for years (10+). My mindset is focused now to get me out of this last bit. Just a question. I Can cry and laugh easily and authentically, still, don't experience these feelings. I actually do experience a really calm inner background always, also never have an inner monologue. Is this also dissociation? Or adaptation to the long term of having it. I guess my stress is still going, but unfelt, otherwise i would become more bodely aware. Also still disconnected from my surroundings. Is this fake calmness? Bodily and mentally. Thank you. If my own practices don't work, i will be buying your program.

This video was exactly what I needed! I had been feeling relief from my dp/dr for a few days, but had a depersonalization episode at the park tonight. I believe it was because it was triggered by being outside around the time I had my weed-induced panic attack. I was able to calm myself, but totally had a reactive approach with my dp. I’m now going to try and have a proactive approach and I’m so encouraged by this video! It’s time I throw my monkey away 😂

I had my first ever panic attack about 4 years ago, after a horrendous weed experience where I convinced myself I was stuck in a loop, I still have symptoms 4 years later although, I do get much longer times where I do not feel these, the actual symptoms of dpdr itself no longer scare me, it’s more so the anxiety of having anxiety or having a panic attack in public or feeling out my comfort zone, but with that comes dpdr. My life lacks routine and structure even more so with Covid19, my anxiety seems to be heightened at night when watching tv in my bed or walking around with the lights on, could u offer me any advice? Cheers

Hey Jordan! Quick question... I have severe GAD and possibly headache/vestibular issues causing migraines making anxiety worse. I am very sensitive to stress and anxiety elevated to severe levels very quickly. So a majority of my day I feel right/flight symptoms including, tingling, tension, blurred vision, headache, general pain, dizziness, etc. All these symptoms I tend to hyper focus on automatically which makes me more anxious (even though I know better than to think they’re dangerous symptoms). It’s very hard for me to let go of the fact that I’m anxious. So preventing anxiety in my current state is kind of difficult because I experience it so constantly. Do you recommend the same recovery strategy for me where I am utilizing coping mechanisms consistently to try and keep anxiety/stress down? My body seems to get out of control very quickly and it’s an endless cycle. I’m also trying CBT constantly but I get into a dysfunctional state lots due to these physical symptoms and it’s so difficult to change the way I feel.

Hello people from yt, (Im from the Netherlands, im sorry if my grammar or spelling is wrong :p) So ive been Experiencing Derealisation for the past 2 months now and im almost fully recovered, the first month was scary as hell like i tought i was going crazy and stuff you know what i mean but since 3 weeks im (noticing) that im recovering from DR, im not fully recovered yet but i think that the best way to reduce DR is to accept it, the more you fight it the more heavy its gonna get, i know its hard but think of it as a Tree , yes a Tree, the more you come back and water it (the more you think about it) the more it will grow, if you dont water the tree (dont think about it) then it will corode away (ofcourse this will take time and you are gonna have some days where the feeling of dr is stronger then the day after) but once it is gone its gonna feel better

Hello Jordan! Hope you are doing well. I just wanted to share my story with DP and was hoping if you had any tips to help me. So around the beginning of the year last year, i started smoking a little bit of weed. I wasn't doing it often maybe once every few months and the strains were not strong as well. So when it was around june I was smoking with a friend and after a few minutes i was very overwhelmed with the high feeling. I had never felt like that and it was very scary. It was like i was in a dream and i didn't have control of what i was doing and i was stressed the whole night after that. But when i woke up in the morning i was completely fine and everything felt real. Couple of weeks passed by and i started feeling what i was feeling during the time i smoked and i began to worry. I was very confused and scared and i started researching about it until i came across your channel. First off i want to say thank you because you have helped me a lot. So after i learned that i had DP i tried to stay calm and hope it would go away. But a almost a year and a half has passed and it feels like not much has changed. I have also stopped thinking about my DP because i heard it helps but i feel the same as before. The stress and anxiety isn't there anymore but i still feel like I'm in a dream sometimes. I guess i got used to it over the course of this year but i still feel like i haven't recovered fully. I know that was a long read haha but i was hoping if you would just tell me anything that could help. Thanks

Genetic makeup is one factor as some people have weaker enzymes that are need to return the brain back to normal functioning after a stressful episode. Co-author Carolyn Manure added that she had found a relation in her own work between stress exposure and shrinkage in prefrontal grey matter. I read all this and it increases my hopelessness.

When i woke up on 2 seperate occasions i woke up to hearing a voice in my head saying my name. I'm unsure if this was the result of the constant stress and anxiety i was under. I no long get these but i am still very fearful all the time and on edge i will hear a voice or see something. Do you think hearing something may have been a byproduct of the anxiety caused by depersonaliztion? Does anybody have a similar experience? @Find Yourself As we age we are going to have to come to terms with the fact we are dying. If you loose a arm, a foot or become deaf, does this mean you would kill yourself for fear? Of course not thats sill, we just get on with it. Dont be so assumed by floaters, everyone gets them. The reason you see them so much is because like me you have become so anxious about your health that you are hyper aware of your body. You see everything as a means (reason) to proove that you are unwell. This is called Health anxiety, it is a confusion of the mind that is so powerful it causes us to think we are very unwell when we arnt. I have this disorder myself and know how hard it is to tell yourself your okay when your manifesting physcial symptoms. I usually get so bad that i end up paralysised and cant leave the house. i get lost in my mind and feel far away because of the fear. research ~"health anxiety." its a real diagnoses, it used to be call hypochondria. Something that helps me is sitting in the sun for 30 min and enjoy the heat on your skin, getting baths and feeling the water on your skin, and other mind body connections. Your mind has become so detached that its good to focus on unifying the mind with body. That might sound weird or esotericy but people are both mind and body, when the mind fears the body you can detach. So spend time with your senses, hear music and close your eyes, do online self massages, float around in the bath, sit in the sun, hold ice cubes and relax. Its like a saftey mechanism that the mind does to protect us when we are about to experiance real pain, your so focused on fear of death or being unwell that the mind automatically detaches from the body and then you get trapped in a never ending cycle of sensing your body is not well, then detaching, and on and on it goes. To over come this focus on the senses, and maybe pray to God if you are so inclined, Payer is a powerful tool to help us be at peace and awarness of our creator. It is profoundly relaxing.

Does the way you got dp/dr effect how long you’ll have it? For example, if you got it from smoking, would you recover faster than someone who got it from childhood trauma?

That's a good question. There isn't a concrete answer. It all depends on the person and how consistently they execute a body-based recovery strategy.
