Just wanted to come back to tell anyone who’s suffering dpdr that I too went through it for about a year and a half and now 3 years later im 100% recovered never looked back ever since. Im not sure how I recovered ig life just submerged me back into reality and i feel completely normal now. God also helps a lot but you have to be willing to help yourself as well. I just remember how much of my life i would spend trying to look for recovery stories and wishing it would all go away and now here i am.

I can finally say I’m recovering. I’ve gone days where I feel completely normal and it’s definitely not a switch. Recovery has ups and downs. Some days it comes back and others I feel completely safe. I am hopeful, I just started doing Jiu Jitsu and started living my life again. Ruminating existential thoughts still come but the biggest difference now is that they don’t cause me a huge threat response anymore, I can just observe them and discard them if I want. The weirdest part now is feeling normal feels weird and different and that can give me anxiety. It’s almost like I have to check in every once In a while with my traumatized state, but I know that’s it’s just my body and brain entering a new baseline. Thanks so much for your videos.

I had a panic attack at 19 and suffered with this for about 6 months. Im 35 now and looking back I can barely remember it and forgot how traumatic it felt at the time. Two months ago, I suffered my second panic attack due to a breakup and these feelings are back! Panic attacks must unleash a cocktail of hormones to the brain which has a brutal after effect. I'm two months in and dealing with it day by day, the feeling has diffused somewhat as the weeks and months go on but some days I feel like I've regressed and feel awful. One big tip I remember doing back when i was 19 is to not stop living your life, do the things that scare you and make you anxious, such as travelling or going to gigs and being in crowds, it will speed up recovery massively. Just push through it and keep going. Good luck!

I still have the odd day where I feel a little disassociated, mainly after alcohol, also the anxiety has pretty much gone. DPDR was the worst part for me but it does fade over time, the one thing which has lingered on and that I still think about most days is the memories of it all and how rough it was, I occasionally check in on myself and see if I'm feeling weird, again this is something I'm confident will go over time, the more time goes on the more I forget about it. I feel like I've gone through the full cycle of emotions and I am nearly at the finish line. Sorry you went through it, how has your journey been?

However, I still am in an emotionally trolling household that I pretty much live at an extreme level of anxiousness that my body has just been conditioned to. I am about to move out and the past 2 months I’ve been having intense anxiety and my Derealization has come back with all these existential thoughts. Its hard for me to imagine my future and Its created this huge stress of going into a new chapter. It’s made is so scary bc it’s supposed to be good bc I’ll be going into a healthier environment, but I’m scared about it bc I don’t feel present. Let me tell you that the Book DP Manual from Shaun o Connor is not flawed but it comes down to the person and how strict you are with the rules. So don’t worry if you have bought the DP Manual. It works. You can reduce your anxiety and eventually get completely 100% recovered from DP/DR if you have been staying strict to the rules of DP Manual. I have Done it. Cheers

same.. but I start dissociating after 8 months since I got covid and experiencing smell loss.. I was always scared that my smell didn't came back.. and I was always checkin if my smell was fully back.. ( spoiler: at the end it did came back.. you just need to be patient even if it's been months since you lost it) I suggest you to use moisturizing nasal sprays and do nasal washings frequently.

Hi Jordan, Do you have a course on anxiety? I don’t believe I have dpdr. I’ve suffered from Extreme anxiety for about 7 months. Symptoms started with lightheadedness, dizziness, fatigue. Now I get the occasional bad fatigue, dizziness, extreme tension in my neck and upper back muscles. I’ve had an extremely hard time driving. (The lightheadedness mainly happened when driving, and gave my panic attacks)

I suspect I have depersonalisation. I’ve had this for 10 years. My symptoms are mainly cognitive so thinking is very difficult. I have to think about thinking and reading is challenging. It’s got better over time and I’m on max dose antidepressant which help. When it’s bad it’s like I can’t think about my thoughts, it’s very difficult to explain which is annoying. It’s like I have thoughts but I can’t actually think about them it’s just like I’m not in control of my thoughts or something like that I’ve had severe ocd and bdd and was anxious at school a lot. Can anyone advise if they think this is depersonalisation. It’s been awful I’ve really suffered over the years with this. I saw two therapists to ask them what is causing this thinking problem but they didn’t really say anything. My psychiatrist when I asked him what’s causing these problems Said I was mad. My other symptom is I sometimes feel like I’m drunk. So I don’t feel drunk but you know how everything feels odd when you have had a bit of alcohol. It’s like that. Something is off. I told my psychiatrist this as well. Please can someone give their opinion I would be very grateful 😊
