    Sykes-pickott(probably butchered that name) agreement. After ww1 the french and British betrayed the people that helped them defeat the ottomans(arab revolt), by no honouring their agreement to let these people rule themselves after the war and instead carved up the middle east between themselves. Drawing straight lines across a map and setting the stage for an endless clusterfuck of conflicts in the middle east.

    @@TEO-jo4xm Northern Cyprus is a self governing state under Turkish control since 1974. The important part of this story isn't the army comparison, but it's the fact that no one can prevent Turkey from doing whatever it wants for decades. We are now witnessing the same story with northern Syria although there are two more actors in this case. Russia and the US. Still it's going pretty well. I see mocking Turkey despite these events as a sign of insecurity. Sorry. Also invasion of Cyprus happened because of Greek oppression over Turkish speaking Cypriots.

The Iraqi army collapsed, the Syrian army collapsed and this was whilst they were under 24/7 coalition bombings. Never in the Middle East has there been a powerful, drugged up fanatic fighting force as powerful as ISIS.     I am just bored with the situation that my country(Turkey) is in. We have an economic crisis here, we are at war constantly, we are changing our allies and views regularly. I am a university student in Istanbul who wants to be an academician and since I have born there is always a problem (mainly this one) which puts us on an economic crisis. I am not going to comment more because I don't think I can in this country. Edit: Economic crisis is the term we use for inflation ravaging since the government says there is no inflation ravaging.

    Yes it is true. Turkish War of Independence fought against mostly Greeks and French Auxiliaries(i don't know if there was French soldiers) and Armenia secured the todays Turkish border.

    Britain didn't take much of Anatolia, but France did. On top of that, Greece and Italy were also there. Turks did only have a small amount of land.

    I really like these videos, because lately I've hated getting involved in politics due to the amount of "us VS them" mentality we're having in search of the next "evil empire". It's nice to have some informative history on how this conflict has gotten to where it is today, because otherwise the average American would never know the circumstances that lead to this

    The UN is a disgrace. My father had to fight along side them in Africa, and they kept holding forces back while his men were getting cut up. Disgraceful displays.     @@bremcurt9514 That's dumb, the USA who messed it up was completely ran by different people who run it today. It's the equivalent of paying your parents debt. Also, it wasn't even the USA that caused the conflict, it was European countries that messed it up. It was the shifting of borders made by those countries after world war 1 (they had colonies there) that cause the whole conflict in the first place.

Socialism is, broadly, the destruction of private ownership of the means of production, such as factories, raw materials, and tools. In the case of libertarian socialism, this means minimal government control socially and politically, while also making the "means of production" publicly owned, or at least owned by the workers who use them to create the goods and services that make the "means of production" have any sort of value. In short, it's marrying the anti-state philosophy of libertarian ideologies with the anti-bourgeoisie ideas of socialism.
