If you think about it, this game is actually a kind of existentialist horror. The moment time travel gets invented, the war becomes non-linear in time, meaning it can never truly end because any defeat can be undone, and an attack can be staged at any point in time before or after hostilities have "ended" in any given timeline.

As far as the 'people' are concerned, I'm fairly sure they wouldn't feel the change. Some are literally unborn while others are entirely altered by history. What is certain however, is that time will be utterly destroyed once the first jump is made. There will be more time as the future loses its meaning by becoming tangible. So yeah, you're point is made and I'll add that time travel no matter how small will screw us all.

Theres actually a really crazy and cool game called Achron which integrates time travel into a RTS. You can basically go back in time in the game to move units somewhere if you find yourself getting flanked in the present for example. The game updates temporal changes every few minutes, so you have time to counter any past moves made by your opponent. Its a really fun game thats hampered by poor development of every feature outside of the time travel mechanic, and the difficulty of understanding how it works.

There's a book called This Is How You Lose The Time War where the two main characters are combatants on either sides of a war like the one you're describing. It's not a war book so to speak, but the descriptions of the workings of the war effort from both sides are fascinating. Highly reccomended.

red alert 3 was the defining game of my childhood. i literally never understood the plot at all but i have many fond memories of the versus gamemodes and doing some wacky strategies (like being able to overrun an entire base from minute 5 with just a bunch of peacekeepers). revisiting it now and refreshing the wacky plot and everything else, ahhh the nostalgia

I seriously don't get all the hatred of RA3, it has good UI, graphics don't hurt eyes and of course movie cutscenes with whacky acting, only much better quality and a lot more content. It's everything that RA franchise ever was! To me it's just like the original RA I played back in late 90's, but not as it really was, it's how I remember it.

Let's all be honest with ourselves. Red alert 1 split into two timelines based on who won. Allies winning leads to the Red Alert series and the Soviets winning leads to the Tiberium series, with Kane making a cameo at the end of the Soviet Campaign. We can assume he brought Tiberium here and he dies or leaves the planet somehow in the Allies campaign.

12:30 Dude, I know where your coming from but let's be honest. C&C 3 went for camp and they owned that niche. It was a really fun game but the story writers had the same goal as the folks who wrote Sharknado. They were not even in the Universe of trying to take themselves seriously, and they pulled it off, really well. That storyline was fun, and they had some decent gags.

I honestly love RA3. Especially because of the campaigns, because it is the script of a c movie in the best possible way. It wants to be ridiculous, and manages it really well while still being somewhat engaging if you give it the chance

Not only Tim Curry, but also J.K. Simmons, Jonathan Pryce and David Hasselhoff. Goddamn, RA3 had a strong cast!

That outtro was the most delightful thing I've seen all week. It's been a rough week

I love how Tim Curry couldn’t keep a straight face for that scene, and this is a guy who had the Muppets say that he was a living muppet.

The funny thing with the Empire's campaign is that despite them being THE bad guys in RE3, there is no internal betrayal while both Allies and Soviets have that left and right.

@@cabellones im not quite, sure i liked the soap feel of RA2. I think my biggest probelm with RA3 it trys so hard to be a Starcraft game but it failed sooo badly

I love how it ends with your representation of the three armies vibing to the Soviet March for Red Alert 3

I just love how absolutely hilarious, over the top and unserious the RA3 story is. It goes all the way and never stops even for a moment to be realistic. The RA games in general go more and more crazy with each part, just like how Saints Rows gives less and less f*s about being a serious open world crime sim.

Red Alert 3 endings in a nutshell: Allies: you gotta date 2 blonde chicks Soviets: you gotta lead the ussr Japan: you gotta keep that honor AND date a hot chick

The thing is, unlike the missconception of movies like Back to the Future, a theory about time travel is that, if you change something in the past, you create a complete new paralel universe with the consecuences of those changes. Also that implies that it will be another you on that new paralel universe.

These are honestly my favourite types of videos where the creator goes AWOL and talks about something obscure they care deeply about

They won't make a Red Alert 4, because it would involve an Einstein, pissed off at what the world has become, traveling back in time to prevent Hitler's death and mentoring him.

Ok so search up “red alert 3 Soviet March electro” then once you find the video have the speed be at 1.25x speed and then you have the exact same tune as what Cody used in this video

One of the first video games I saw was red alert 3. I love the C&C franchise. I love this goofy telling of the red alert story. It certainly is kooky but fun. Also that theme mix on the end card is awesome.

Which might prompt Einstein to go back in time and kill him, which means Hitler never lived so Einstein doesn't go back in time, which means Hitler lives [....] But regarding your question, what if they killed Einstein after he killed Hitler?

Idk with others but this game is a part of my childhood and even though its old i still love it. It is so depressing yet true that qoute " EA DESTROYS EVERTHING IT TOUCHES"

Fun fact, the bald guy in the RA1 cutscenes is supposedly Kane of the regular C&C continuity. So Allies win and the RA timeline keeps going, Soviets win and the C&C Tiberium timeline goes forward (The Tiberium meteor misses Earth in the Allies version I guess)

According to what was going to be the original C&3 (that is, before EA bought Westwood), the Soviet ending is completely non-canon. Both Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Dawn come from an Allied victory in Red Alert (Red Alert 2 is just an alternate timeline, caused by Yuri being flung into the past, not to mention that they are set in the 70s so Tiberium has yet to arrive). And it does make sense, because in the Soviet ending you have Nod controlling all of Europe through the Soviet Union and thus were the #1 world superpower, whereas in Tiberian Dawn they had to purchase most of their equipment.

I'm 50yrs old and I still have C&C the first decade disc set and still play it to this day, I love it till the day I die.

As a fan of C&C RA generally, and 3 especially, I enjoyed watching this xD This was beyond enjoyable!

J.K Simmons = America Tim Curry = the Soviets. George Takei = The Japanese. My God the casting is... PERFECT!

The Tiberium games were the first C&C games I played and I remember picking up the case and looking at the back and seeing the list of actors they had. Then I went home and saw the actors they had in the previous games like Red Alert and remember thinking “they really are shelling out money for big time actors to do the cheesiest cutscenes for a game?” They ruined celebrities in games for me like Kevin Spacey in COD because C&C will always be the most memorable for how cheesy they were but also how much charm they added to the game.

I clearly remember that mission, it’s the Soviet campaign. You don’t have to destroy them, I just garrisoned them to use for defense. And yes, I played the game after 9/11 though I didn’t connect the dots until years later. Still a cool mission though and really made the pre-9/11 world real for me.

to be fair, japan is basically a world power even after the nukes. the only thing holding them back militarily is because they got traumatized so hard by ww2 that they adopted an almost pacifist military policy
