I can tell you right now that the light is still going great! I wish I got the newest version that's available, though. It has a magnet on the end and has a pivoting head as well as a laser light.

Ryobi makes quality power tools. Especially when comparing to harbor freight or Amazon specials. It's the similar quality to Ridgid or Milwaukee same company however tti like to outfit the Milwaukee brands with more features as well as a step up to commercial grade use. Milwaukee is manufactured by the same company in China along with Ridgid

It's amazing how TTI skips over Ryobi and treats it like the stepchild at times when they are coming from the same place. My only guess is that they are using the good, better, best approach when it comes to their tool line-up. Ryobi is still a leading innovator in new tools to various markets that no other major tool brand will branch out into, though.

Ryobi is high quality. Who says they are crap. Maybe 20 to 25 years ago Ryobi was not great especially those old nicad batts. But the past 15 years Ryobi makes awesome high quality tools.

A few years ago I bought an aluminum body flashlight from Dollar Tree, (back when everything was $1). It has (I think) 9 LEDs and runs on three AAA batteries. I thought it might be good to keep in the car in case I drop something on the floor or under the seat. When I went to test it out it was already night so I aimed it at a tree about 100 feet away knowing that it probably wouldn't cast a beam that far but to my shock it lit up the entire tree! With that kind of output I can't imagine the batteries lasting a long time but that's not what I bought it for. I just can't see spending $40 for the Ryobi, but for $20 I might consider one.

I really wanted to try this light since I already ended up investing in the 4 volt line from Ryobi. I noticed that they brought out a revamped version and I really want it as well. I can't justify dropping another $40 for a light. I do love this light. It is rugged and durable as well as compact, but the biggest selling point was rechargeable. I don't have to store batteries and the charger is built into the battery already. For everyday use, it's great. For emergencies, it's definitely not really worth the investment. I would go your route and buy a cheaper light, for sure.

@@officialshadetreeamerica There are two Ryobi 4V tools I want, the power cutter and the 1/4" ratchet. I have a use for both of those but in my opinion they are way over priced, especially the $100 power cutter. Even at half price I would not buy the power cutter but I would definitely buy the ratchet. With few exceptions, I consider the 4V line to be more toys than tool and Ryobi must too because they come with a 50% shorter warranty period then their 18 and 40V tools.

It's actually ironic that you mentioned the ratchet. I have the prototype of the 1/4 and 3/8 ratchet. The 1/4 inch ratchet is really nice for working in tight areas as well as lower torqued fasteners. As for the cutter, I couldn't agree with ya anymore. It's way too pricy for what it is. Back in the day, Fiskars made the same tool and it was a fraction of that Ryobi wants for the cutter today.

  • @Pro1er

@@officialshadetreeamerica That is exactly what I want the 1/4" ratchet for, low-torque applications. Almost everyone thinks that they need a ratchet with enough torque to remove lug nuts from semis, I want one for small fasteners and could have used one more than once in the past month alone.

@@officialshadetreeamerica yeah those little boards are dirt cheap it’s the same as the battery packs they sale by checkout in Walmart or wherever with usb c instead of micro usb. I buy them for 1.50 so I’m sure it doesn’t cost much more for usb c. Just an observation when the packs get old they can be easily rebuilt is all.
