Happy that you demonstrated carpet tile and the synthetic grass. I was looking for a gauge on cutting carpet. Everybody says it shines for clamshell or blister packaging, but on 99% of products, you can just slide a knife through the mounting hole against the cardboard and slide it around the edge and it cuts quickly and easily.
Been waiting to get the new ryobi lithium usb tools and that led light, bought the new ryobi brushless hp ez-clean portable pressure washer last Sunday and it's awesome

I just bought the 12v Makita "Power Cutter." The cutting head end looks the same as this Ryobi. I bought the Makita tool because I thought less power would exempt the cutter from several jobs that I wanted out of it. The 12v works well. I'm glad I got the 12v cutter; I don't think a 4v or 6v cutter would be good for anything but small jobs.

Black & Decker has had one of these FOREVER. I use snips on blister packs. The one time I instead used a grinder (because it was right next to my Christmas gift battery charger I was trying to open on the bench), I cut right through the electrical connection next to the unit. It was hidden from the front under an insert.
Well, you said it all when you said "hobby", low powered, low RPM, perfectly safe for a Soccer Mom to cut scrapbook materials with... Just about anything you can cut with it you can cut with a utility knife in about 1/2 the time.

It's almost like it's a one trick pony, just for clamshell packaging. But the catch 22 is that it comes in a clamshell package.
i just rushed out and bought one ... now where did i put my packaging opener ?
Bro, why you got me so hyped over a package opener...
@VCGconstruction was that a Spyderco PM 2 Tanto I saw? 😆 I collect a bunch of knives and it is without it out. One of my favorites!
Just got one of these for Christmas. It looks like a great tool. I wish I opened it first- would have helped with opening all the plastic clamshell packaging. I destroyed my scissors and cut my fingers up. And I think this is perfect when you're trying to dispose of old carpeting and garbage co says you have to have it cut down into smaller rolls.
This guy is like the Billy Mays of contractor tools🤣🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ it's all good though we love you anywayVince. Keep doing what you do
I use this and like it alot. It’s not perfect and definitely isn’t the most powerful or fastest tool but I can cut a whole lot of blister packs or cardboard with much less effort then a utility knife or scissors. There actually is a battery charge level indicator right next to the top switch. Definitely not a pro tool but far from useless and I do like it a lot.
I have this for mainly keeping in garage to break down cardboard and other recyclable materials. This is significantly better than using a regular box cutter. Especially if you have a lot of cardboard that I tend to get each week.
Most power products, you just gotta let the tool do the work. Thanks for this, I literally just bought one.
This is one of my most used Ryobi tools. I use it weekly to break down boxes to fit into my recycle bin. I always challenge myself to see how much I can fit into my bin and haven't failed yet! lol While most people who get large boxes from TVs, etc just put them out to the curb, I break it down to fit into my recycle bin. Love this tool!
Thanks for this video. You have saved me from even considering this 'tool' if I could loosely use the term to apply to this. Disappointed in the performance. It would have been nice if the battery could have been used as a power source to recharge your phone.
Wife got me the black n decker version probably 7yrs ago as a stocking stuffer, and it seems to work best when tilting it counter clockwise just a bit. Let's say 11 o'clock, maybe 11:30
Aldi supermarket been doing a USB cutter like this in the UK for 2 years retails £12 about 15$ US price. I have 12v one from Parkside £20 (with charger & 2ah batter) & I've eaten zillions of Amazon boxes with it & it has an adjustable blade space for material of different widths
I have the Worx brand it works just fine but when battery go dead you wait a long to for a refill. Works good though.
what brand of blade to you carry?
You can use a can opener to open those plastic packaging just saved you alot of pain with the blades
Waiting for Chaka's professional evaluation....
It has half the cutting power of scissors and only takes twice the amount of time! I can’t wait!

You're probably right, but the effort needed to repeatedly cut cardboard or clamshell packaging with scissors is like hauling buckets of tar up a ladder to a roof. Not to mention the odds of slicing your hand open on clamshell packaging, that shit should come with a warning.

This tool and tools like it are trying to create void and fill it but scissors and knives already fill that space. To me, I'll stick to scissors and knives for package opening or cutting cardboard and fabrics. This seemed like a cool idea and I almost purchased one of these during one of the Christmas sales till I stepped back and thought about it for a minute. This thing is either an impulse buy or you'll use and abuse it (then its not for you anyways).
I have a solution !!!!!!! A Fein 12 volt cordless multi tool with a Fein Starlock hook blade 😁. It's my choice !!!!!! Just an FYI. The Fein will also peel a banana 🍌. LOL !!! Try it, it's awesome. Thanks for the video Vince.

Define irony. A product whos selling point, among others, is to make opening clamshell packaging easier is packaged itself in a ridiculously robust clamshell package. If I only had this tool to open.....um.....this tool. Cheers!
Can incurre 1/8 mdp?
I hope ridgid will release a cutting nozzle on the multitool

Ryobi can't modify how the English language works. If they wanted to be pronounced Reoby they should have spelled their name properly. Same goes for Brett Farve.
@robertjoseph1592
2 жыл бұрын
Except it's a Japanese name spelled with English (technically Roman) characters. The capital city of Japan, Tokyo, is pronounced Tok-ee-o, not Tok-eye-o. The letter y when used in a Japanese word or name is pronounced ee, not eye. Always. And Brett Favre (don't know who Brett Farve is), says hi.

2mm vinyl wood flooring?
Type C was such a smart choice. Milwaukee is sucking so bad in the last few years... No track saw, no type C batteries, no 4th gen drill and impact. what the heck! I'm turning red with anger!
The thing about USB typc c vs micro USB is that for power only the type c port is very expensive to manufacture, micro USB 4 pins for power is enough but a typc 24 pin out. Arrange board is just waste of resources of you are not transferring data, so the case is mostly manufacturing cost
The Bosch version has been out for years certainly in the uk anyway.

I have Skil's version of this tool. The blade keeps snapping behind the built in sharpener, and it's a PIA to get out. I hope Ryobi's has a better design
I like ryobi and I own some ryobi tools, but those 4v lithium tools are not worth the money due to the fact that you have to remove the cap each time you want to charge the battery, and you have to put the cap back each time you put the battery back in. Ryobi should have give us the ability to charge the battery from the tool so then it will be worth buying. As for now there are many great 4v tool on amazon that is cheaper and better. For example, for the price, I would rather buy the worx snip zip instead of this ryobi cutter.

If you need this $70 tool to cut those packages open there's something wrong with you. I've been cutting those packages open with high quality scissors for years with no problem. There's no need for a tool like this for those types of packaging.
