Hi Sam! Good conversational video. For the common guys (or ExPat if you will) new to coming to another country perhaps with finding someone special to be with and/or a place to retire, what you preach on this episode hopefully will influence them in a good way with positive conclusions of course.🤗 The great advice you were given by your friend at the State’s, “Hold On, Don’t Rush!” and “Slow Down!” were correct BUT easier said than done 😅. But that’s why the content of this episode would the by least make them think once, twice, maybe more…but the bottom line is that they make them stop and think before making any commitment. Hey, sometimes I have to remind myself and basically heed to those two advices you got from your friend. The Philippines do have an abundance of beautiful women…to die for. But “beautiful” obviously needs to be expanded beyond just the physical characteristics…there are just too many dimensions of what makes a woman beautiful, which is in essence I myself personally have to discover of that particular Filipina I’m wanting to see (or seeing and spending time with already). Whatever variables I need to discover about her, if I’m satisfied with my own conclusion about her - and just as important, HER conclusion of ME (hey, the proverb “It takes two to tango” still definitely applies here, for me anyway). Hey Sam, stay safe and healthy…hope you got your objectives done back at the states…and ready to get back to your lovely Filipina partner. I hope to get to the Philippines 🇵🇭 by September (just waiting for my passport) and for sure I’ll make sure to hit on you guys so we can have dinner or something. 🇺🇸🇵🇭 ✌️

Hmmm…maybe some other subscribers can chime in on that…in fact I may mention it on my next blog. I do know in Dumaguete there are some diehard fisherman ( using rod and reel ) who fish at the Blvd …most of the in shore fishing in dumaguete are done by locals with 100’ to 200’ nets…and they catch every thing insight and eat everything..and at nite you will see 10 to 20 local spearfisherman. That’s why I said Diehard fisherman like me who uses a rod and reel never has a chance to catch anything. I’ve driven up and down the coast. And haven’t caught anything…there’s zero bait and tackle shops…only way to fish is to dig up some worms ( if you can find any ) or use a lure…I’m losing patience Dave..😅

John, I’ve been so disappointed with fishing in the Philippines. Especially in dumaguete. One of my passion is fishing. Growing up in south Florida with abundance of fish, bait and tackle shops. Here in the Philippines it’s the complete opposite ( recreational fishing ) But I’ll keep the thoughts open on making a video about expats fishing in the Philippines.

Loved your numerical scale, Sam. It's true. The 8's and 9's actually will pay attention to us old guys here in the Philippines, to the point that we will actually believe WE might even be an 8 or a 9! But then a trip back "home" to North America makes us remember that we are actually closer to a fraction of that number. But, at least we have fantasy to come back to, and those misguided, vague memories of our distant youth that tell us that we once were 8's and 9's! At least that's what I tell my grandkids - and make sure I hide all my old photographs from them. Be good, Sam. We both need to be in Dumaguete more, especially with college football not too far away.

Hi Sam, you have a lot of valid points, but here’s my take on it. First, the gentleman needs to find the island and the city he can see himself living in long-term. Get himself situated and established first and then he can start looking for a female companion who checks all the boxes, since they’re coming in “a dime a dozen“. And if he can get his lady to fall madly inlove with him, she will move anywhere in the world just to be with him😉 Sooooo, find a place first and then find the girlfriend. That’s my take on that. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I love that thought Louisa, thanks for joining in. I really do think there’s no wrong answer or approach.. I just think everyone should just slow down, relax, enjoy what Philippines has to offer…but the main factor is once again do you have the time, money and patience before you make that final decision.

Hmmm. Stay for a few months if you can. If you don’t like the lifestyle take her to the USA for a few months and see if you like the new lifestyle with a Filipina in the USA. If she has a hard time adjusting. Then have to decide if you want to go back to the Philippines. Always keep your options open and let her know so she won’t feel misled.

Understanding being a Man is that you are able to provide a home before you bring someone into it. This is basic common sense. Do not move halfway around the world to find a girl. Move there to find who you are there. Find where you want to be. THEN worry about a woman if you must. Do you think she wants to be a traveling Gypsy? Too often men get sucked into believing that chaos is their friend. It is not. Calm logic, careful planning. That is a Man. Know yourself. Know your goals. Then you can add someone else in your life. Women bring chaos. And if you already live in chaos, what are you doing? What is your plan? How will you achieve your desired outcome? Do not add to the chaos of the world. Seek to be that pillar of granite. Steady and firm. Unable to be easily pushed around. A point of strength in a storm. Untill you know who you are, mentally and spiritually, you are just driftwood. Tossed about with no direction. When you become the person that can hold firm regardless of your surroundings, then, and only then, should you be looking for a partner.

Once again Goatman, Great comment…and great advice. …But we have a problem, when you see a beautiful woman and I don’t mean just the physical appearance, all common sense goes out the window. I’ve done it in the past and sometimes in the middle of doing it I’m asking myself what in the world am I doing…uh oh…too late….

@SAMLAMB You find that girl then put a pin in that location. But you can not find you if you have company. If she is there when you do you, then it's great. If she is gone, then she would be gone further down the line too. So you either score a win and have a gal ready for you, or you score a win and have a headache gone from your life.

Sounds good, but makes absolutely no sense. Why would it take a guy some number of months and some number of practice girlfriends to "find the right woman"? Couple possible reasons. #1 Dude is clueless with no idea how to vet a woman. Dude get's to 40+ and still doesn't know what a good woman looks like? No way a few practice girlfriends is going to fix that. #2 Dude is looking for a slick woman who knows how to play him. This is the only type of woman he's ever been with so he thinks that's what good women do. He'll never see it for what it is. A man with experience and rational thought can spot a good woman quickly and dismisses problem women even faster. He will only take the time to vet quality women and give her time to decide if she wants in too. "True love"??? That's 12 year-old girl thinking. Worse thing a man can do is think a woman is his "true love". That's female thinking with feelings. Leave that to them. I focus on what she brings to my house. Peace, fun, respect. A woman I can value and invest in.
