Troy Bilt TB30 w/ Powermore [MTD 10.5 HP Engine] Not Running Good..

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I show how to remove the carburetor and clean it up on the Powermore 382CC 10.5 HP MTD engine with Huayi carburetor. Some of the symptoms may be won't start, runs rough, runs erratic, engine missing. It's an easy job that you can do yourself at home to get your mower back up and running like new again. If you go through the cleaning and the engine is still running rough, you might need a new carburetor. Luckily they aren't terribly expensive at the time this video was made they're about $40.
Some of the gear I used in the video were:

    I have a Troybilt 33 inch walk behind (2015). Very limited repair videos for this model. Fortunately, your air filter housing and carb set-up is very close, so you gave me the clues and the confidence to tackle mine. For $35, I decided just to replace the carb rather than go through all the cleaning. For anyone out there with my model, just remember Mr. Bath’s video here…the secret is to remove the plastic exhaust port from the cylinder head as Step #1. That gives you enough play to either just remove the carb or, in my case, also access the screws to disassemble the air cleaner housing to clean off all the gunk that attaches over time. Thanks again.

    Mine CC30H starts right up runs GREAT until it gets hot then "hunts" and dies// won't refire...Carb. removed&ALL orifices can see through.Pilot jet on the side removed&cleaned with thin guitar string &blown out of carb. body, New coil ($40.),valves set,solenoid checked even tried a hand choke with a welding rod--opening fully //manually. 382CC engine. There are NO spring adjustments or various "holes" on the plate links. How do you set the governor to act right on this Powermore engine. NO ONE seems to know anything about them. Your video is "Top Notch"-- no goofing around & dead on the money. You&Donny are the BEST on KZread.

    Thanks for the great comment! I don't have any videos on setting a governor, but if you do a search on setting a governor, there are tons of vids out there. They work pretty similar to each other... but the fact that you said the problem shows up when it gets hot really makes me doubt the governor is the culprit. I would have suspected the coil too, but sounds like you've already taken care of that one... Just for kicks and giggles have you replaced the spark plug? I've never seen it, but Its possible its breaking down when it gets hot.. I know it's a long shot, but worth a try. IF setting the governor doesn't work, you might consider the carburetor... For an aftermarket one, they're about $40.

    If the throttle cable isn't causing the problem, it could be the governor is out of adjustment... Or something is stuck keeping it from moving freely..

    This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but I noticed you're fairly active with comments so its worth a try. @2:48 do you know where you could possibly find a replacement choke linkage bushing? I followed your instructions and the carb cleanout went phenomenal... however I broke the linkage clip and now cannot find one anywhere for any of these 30 inch riding mowers. Do you happen to know the specs or where I could find a replacement? (My machine is a 2013 Columbia CR30) Thank you so much for the video!!!

    Hi... Have you tried taking your engine model number (not the mower model) and going over to www.partstree.com? From there you can plug in your model number to get the parts breakdown to see if that bushing is listed. You could probably wire tie it on there if worst comes to worse, but it would be better with the right part.

    Hey! Thank you for the video. Same machine i have its a 2010. Ill try to explain this best i can lol. It sounds like its chocking itself out when running when it warms up. Sputters and pops... when i put my hand over the airfilter intake its runs beautifully. Also if i reach my hand to the top of the carburetor and manually move the choke it abit it runs excellent. But if i adjustment the screw (further back middle screw in the 3 screw cluster) it does not like that. Theory it should like the adjustment but does not as it moves the throttle on the carb. I understand you cant see tge machine but if you have an idea it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi! Definitely sounds like something in the carb. I've seen these machines where I've tried cleaning the carb 4 or 5 times and it's still popping. Put on a new carb and boom... no popping. Never could figure out what was wrong in the first place, but nevertheless, a new carb might fix it when the cleaning won't. Of course I can't see your machine so I'm just guessing. Amazon sells a good one called ALLMOST HUAYI.. they're about $40 bucks... It worked for me on a stubborn one...

    Where does the choke reconnect? I have it "hooked" on the carburetor, but where does the other end connect? It looks like a safety pin

  • @JLPicard440

    @JLPicard440

    25 күн бұрын

    HI, it's part of the throttle linkage unless you have a separate choke knob on the dashboard. Most of them don't, the choke engages when you push the throttle all the way up. I can't say exactly where it attaches without being able to see it.

  • @josephvogel7234
    @josephvogel723427 күн бұрын

    When you reassemble and connect the throttle linkage and spring, you may see that there is a slot in the brackets where the lever for the rod originates. Don't make the same mistake I made in assuming it should go through that slot...IT SHOULDN'T! It belongs behind the bracket. free floating, no guide necessary.

    I’ve had mine 3 years. Spark plug, oil filter, fuel filter all fairly new. Sputters when running (it will start). Plenty of gas. Your guess - carburetor the culprit? Thanks

  • @JLPicard440

    @JLPicard440

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes I have seen that before. Even sounds like it could be a coil, but yes it turned out to be a carburetor. Those carburetors were about $40 bucks for an aftermarket one and it ran great after that. Of course I haven't seen yours in person, so I'm just guessing based on what you told me.. BTW, on that one, I tried cleaning and it didn't solve the issue..

    @@JLPicard440. Thanks for the answer. Worked on it today - Throttle linkage bar was moving back and forth while running. I even put a new spark plug in. Still surging and sputtering. Still think carburetor the culprit ?

  • @JLPicard440

    @JLPicard440

    Жыл бұрын

    Sounds like its surging, only a guess, but probably is the carburetor... Before you buy a carburetor have you tried cleaning the one you have? Also if something has contaminated the carburetor, I'd remove the gas tank and flush it out with water as well as the fuel lines and replace the fuel filter again since after you put a new one it could have been contaminated with whatever gas was in the gas tank. Of course, let everything sit in the sun until dry. IF you don't do this it'll just recontaminate the new carburetor, or the newly cleaned carburetor.
