I'm wondering when you removed the Main High speed jet where bowl bolts to is the issue. Some of them if removed, will not line up again. Usually need to replace with a jet that replaces the oem one with one that doesn't restrict the fuel no matter how it's installed.

Henry, I've been working on lawn mowers a long time and these dinky little mowers are a royal pain in the ass to work on, top side and bottom side, pure pain in the ass! Good luck.

Maybe it's been said I didn't read all your comments)but you need a fine wire and clean out the black plastic piece you commented on that you didn't know what it did. It's the pilot jet. I had the same issue with mine

It does have a parking brake on steering column on right side it will allow it to start of the seat

Hi Henry I believe that the issue with the surging is from the pilot jet. Remove that plastic half moon, that other piece of plastic is just a spacer but the piece of plastic that is left and goes into the carburetor should pop out. That piece is your pilot jet. There is a very small hole down the center from the back end of that jet that stops at the thru hole and I'm betting it is clogged. I've had them clogged so bad that the only way I got it to clear was by using a micro drill bit. I bet once you clear it the mower will run as it should. Hope that helps.

Probably a Huayi carburetor (check the carb). I have cleaned a ton of these. The black plastic screw is the idle jet. You have to take it completely apart, poke it, spray it, and blow it out. Drill out the main jet slightly if you cannot get it to stop from surging after running it in ultrasonic cleaner. These carbs are easy to find online as aftermarket no name carbs. Good carb overall and had good luck with aftermarket carbs to replace Huayi as well.

@@rogermcdonald1607 We were quite lucky here within Central Ky with little or no damage on Friday night. A few days before there was a EF-1 tornado that touched down in Franklin & Scott Co just to the north of my county with some house trailers overturned but no real injuries or loss of life. Most of the worst damage was in Western & Southern Ky on Friday night. There were some aircraft that were totally destroyed at a local airport in Boyle County Ky which is due south of where I am located. The aircraft looked like they had been through a shredder. Thanks so much for your kind words and regards, Roger. After seeing all of the footage of all of the destruction, A person who has any feelings at all should appreciate being spared and should be thankful.

Lol. Yup. Put on fuel filter backwards. Ended up letting it sit cause of it. And then because of it sitting, he now got a gummed up carb. Those darn directional filters can cause such a pain.

I like the design of the riding mower but not the design of how you have to get to their carburetor hope that ultrasonic cleaner works on their see u on part 2 bro 🔧

I can't understand why MTD doesn't have a part # for that model of mower.

I hate using it, such a hassle.

27:22...parts won't fit in ultrasonic cleaner. I saw on another YT channel, a lady used a tall plastic jar, filled with the parts and cleaning solution, then submerged in the UC filled with water. Kind of like a bain marie for carburetors.

the crap in the carb looks like remanence of too much stabil fuel stabilizer in the fuel.....but I could be wrong.

The idle circuit for fuel is blocked. This is why it won't start & why it surges.

Chinese carbs are a pain: good job..

Joe fix it is correct Henry plus the ultrasonic cleaning should do the trick. Yes this MTD model is a bitch to remove and work on the carb and we also had a customer install a paper fuel filter which was causing a fuel delivery issue every now and then. Once we switched to the red plastic filter there have been no issues.

Henry, is that the 382cc Powermore engine?

Use my mix bro, in your ultrasonic cleaner, 50% distilled water, 25% white distilled vinegar, and 25% simple green purple, has to be the concentrated simple green "PURPLE", regular simple green doesn't work, has to be the purple, it cleans a carb to like new in 2 /20 minute cleaning cycles, and remember heat up the mixture if you want, but turn off the ultrasonic cleaner heating b4 starting the cleaning cycle, it give more power to the piezo agitation.

Henry, what brand engine. Briggs or the Powermore ? :)

I say it's a powermore like 6 times in the video

And use "Steve's small engine saloon" trick with the plastic jar to house the cleaner, and use regular tap water for the ultrasonic cleaner, it makes clean up super easy, oh and my mix is totally eco friendly, won't hurt plants or animals.

The 3 Troy-bilt ones I worked on the engine was facing towards the front of the tractor so in order to get to the spark plug was a true nightmare, the designer/engineers were laughing when they designed these machines... LMAO

The owners of these machines, I always charge them more, then a regular machine because of the design of that pos, the 3 I worked on this past summer all understood.... LMAO
