Trout Fishing the Santiam River from a Bridge! I Big Trout at Detroit Lake Dam (With Crab Ring)!!

Ойын-сауық

My buddy Frank and I went up to Detroit, Oregon for a very quick trip. We fished the Santiam River from a bridge (awesome) and then the Detroit Lake Dam. We caught a fair number of Trout at the river and then a few more at the Dam to end the trip. The Trout we hooked at our last stop required the use of a crab ring to assure our catch made it up the Dam wall without snapping our lines. It's always a pleasure fishing here and is definitely one of my favorite locations in all of Oregon for Trout.
Come along and enjoy this adventure!

He went to fish with his buddy on the other rock further down the river (where the water calms down) who was slaying them. We were respectful of his casts and made sure we weren't in his way. Current is pretty fast so we just waited until he drifted down which only took a few seconds.

How long of a leader are you using at the dam?

When using a bobber we're doing about anywhere from 8-12 ft down. Our Carolina rig usually runs about 4 to 5 ft leader. We just cast out and let it do a natural drift back toward the dam.
