My friends and I had a quick, successful trip fishing the Santiam River above Detroit Lake for Rainbow Trout. We all caught our limits and had a fun time as usual.

Just missed us by a hair. I think I've been there like three or four times in the last month. 😂
moving to Eugene from Coos Bay in a couple weeks...I cant wait to check all the trout zones up there!

What do you do with all the fish you catch? I watched you catch 70 shad one time.

Shad is excellent crab bait. We run big pots and lots of gear, so we load the bait boxes with cut up shad and hang some whole ones with bait rings as well. The trout we mostly give away to family and friends but also use as a filler for crab bait! We currently have 3 full freezers of bait for the season!
