@littlelizzi3135 if your dogs get on fine, then that's great. If you have a resource guarder or even a very dominant dog, then they could prevent your other dog from eating (as seen in this episode) or even if you have 2 dominant dogs then you should feed them separately as they could start fighting over the food, and that's the last thing you want happening as that could cause further tension between the dogs even when there are treats around or if a child has food that too could be a problem. I believe prevention is better than cure, so in that regard, I think it's always better to err on the side of caution.

And this is why, as the owner of large dogs, I *hate* so many small dog owners. If one of my dogs bit someone on a daily basis, they'd have been seized and put down, but small dogs can terrorize people for *YEARS* and the owners just go "oh well" until they can't even leave their home without getting bitten.

Very true. I’m a volunteer at a dog shelter, so I handle Malinois, Rotts, Pitts, German Shepherds, Danes etc. Never had a problem (and Im quite a petite woman) The only time I got sent to a hospital was by a small Jack Russel. Bit my hand through and through, bit my stomach too. He had bitten before but it was not written on his info. Whereas we also had a huge GS, his info said « Not to be handle by women » eventhough I never ever had a problem w him. Because he growled once at a woman at his adoptive home. So bc of that, the GS never got adopted, when the JR was given 2 more chances with adoptive pple (that he bit too). Big dogs have a very strong bias against them. And it’s so damn unfair.

I agree completely. I am a dog trainer and the idea that once it's small enough to "not be a threat", they don't have to treat it like a dog. No training, no socialization, nothing, just because it isn't big enough to rip someone's face off. On the other hand, it's also partially a treatment problem for the dog. People disrespect small dogs ALL THE TIME. They don't have any caution, they just pick them up, even strangers, and then are shocked when the dog freaks out. All dogs are DOGS, not objects. If a stranger came up to my Rottweiler, no introduction, and just grabbed him to try to pick him up, NOBODY would be surprised if he growled or wiggled or otherwise panicked (he wouldn't, he's been extensively trained for physical handling, but that's exactly what people aren't training their small dogs for) The public seems to think that all small dog behaviors are "cute", even biting and growling and barking, so we've kinda created the problem by not treating them like actual dogs. The amount of people that have said to me "I didn't know small dogs COULD be trained!" Is honestly pretty uncomfortable. Don't get a dog if you can't/won't put in the work to make it a well-behaved member of your household

I have to agree, I’m so much more comfortable around larger dogs than smaller dogs. The only time my, my brother and people had to actually stand on a neighbour’s wall, was due to small dogs! People just don’t treat them as dogs, so they’re unruly! My dog walker who has a great successful reliable business, ended up not taking on small dogs because they are so difficult, due to their owners.

THE MOMENT his dog stopped eating he started to fight for him but what about poor Norman who is so traumatized by Zandar? He is clearly ready to sacrifice the comfort of everyone around for his dog and he definitely enjoys the dominance of the dog.. No way someone would be willing to leave the other pet of the house and his gf/bf this traumatized and do nothing about it unless they like the way things are

It’s gotten a whole lot better in just a few weeks. That is more relaxing for me AND my dog. I know it can sometimes be hard to be very strict but it really makes it better for everyone in the long run. For Lindsay I hope she didn’t marry him and didn’t have kids with him. Terriers are difficult dogs to train because they are so smart and were originally bred for hunting small animals. The other thing I notice with dogs is if the household members fight it directly affects the dogs' behavior. Animals pick up all our emotions and tension is hard for them.

There were like... 3 dog training activities? And 30 minutes of couple counselling??? 😄😄😄 Lyndsay looks a bit out of control, but that's what living with someone who constantly minimises your feelings does to a person... If she doesn't scream, she doesn't think he'll listen. And then he blames her for anything that is wrong. She married another guy, good for her. Jason is bad news, and his dog is just an extension of his own issues as a potential partner. 🙄

Man! This episode struck a deep chord with me. When my ex moved in with his dog he was a nightmare because he had never done any training with him. My dog was trained and well behaved and my ex pretty much expected me to train his dog for him. He never took any accountability for his dogs lack of training and barely any responsibility to do so. After 3 years his dog was still not listening and pushing every boundary that he could. The reality is that the problem was my ex. Not necessarily the dog. Ex. Ex. Ex. I do not miss either of them.

If that was a big dog bitting it would be muzzled straight away. Its not fair on these people that have been bitten multiple times to expect them to be ok with being around a dog that has bitten them several times unmuzzled. On top of that, they are still walking it in public on a loose leash without a muzzle? It could have easily jumped at a child and bitten it. Causing even greater damage, as children are so much smaller. Saying that, ive respect for Victoria, it must be hard when owners refuse to muzzle..She is a brave lady...

I agree with Victoria that Xander was feeding off Lyndsey's energy, but honestly... I see why Lyndsey would have trouble with this. The sticky situation with the dogs reflected the sticky situation between J&L. How sad. I know this episode is older, and people evolve and mature. So for today, I hope both J&L moved on and matured from this experience. Thank you for your work, Victoria.

Rule #1 for having pets that came from 2 different families It doesn’t matter who’s pet it was originally, once your 2 families merge together they become both of your pets, if you get a new stepmom, step siblings, husband, wife or whatever and you both had pets that you owned before your 2 families came together guess what? They’re now everyone’s pet and you all gotta learn to love them all the same

To be so immature as to have a full-blown argument on camera, in front of your dog trainer, and your parents, without an ounce of shame is unbelievable.
