Triumph Scrambler 1200 Top 5: Things I Love / Things I Hate

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey guys I wanted to do this video for a while but not without having spent enough time with the Scrambler in order to give an accurate opinion of the things I like, and thing I don't like so much about the Scrambler. Hopefully this video will help you learn more about the bike and maybe help you make a decision if this bike is right for you or not.

    Nice video. I do agree on most but not on the exhaust sound. To my own taste the sound of the stock exhaust system is just great. There are not too many bikes out there with a solid factory exhaust system sound. But the sound engineers at Triumph did simply an awesome job in this matter. But to each his own.

    Those Metzeler Tourance tyres are for people like me that don’t go off road with a bike of this value but they enjoy the scrambler looks of the bike it’s comfortable suspension and the wide handling bars which gives the rider a superior leverage on the twisted roads all increasing the pleasure of riding . Nice video ✌️✌️

    My 2019 Scrambler XC runs just great. The engine does not stall or die at all. Furthermore the front exhaust part where the cat is positioned gets warm but does not disturb me at all during riding the bike. At the red lights in summer time in gets a bit hot but a decat is not needed to my opinion.

    Great video - very balanced. I’ve had my 1200xc for about 6 months and have done about 5k miles. I didn’t have any issues with the lean fuelling - I’ve not had it stall - also the exhaust is hot in traffic but not unbearable. Maybe the cooler temperatures in the UK help. I traded in a Speed Twin and a Tiger 800 for mine. I had this idea that the Scrambler was a sort of hybrid of the two - and it actually kind of feels like that!

    Good video and really nice balanced review. I have not owned a bike in 15 years and am 61 years old but just fell in love with the 1200 XE. I finally purchased mine last month and have zero regrets, with about 500 miles on the bike I have had no issues. As you indicated, the fit / finish / design and performance are second to none. I did just buy a center stand and plan on doing the decat soon Looking forward to lots of future adventures this summer!

Definitely the decat is the number one thing to get on these in order to help with the fire pit next to your leg that comes from factory. I hope you enjoy your new bike and if you have any questions regarding mods feel free to reach out to me. 👍🏻

    Picked up my 2019 Scrambler XE with just shy of 4000 miles on it last November. I've put about 1500 miles on it. I've had it on and off road. It's my first bike like it so I don't have any reference point from my experience, but I absolutely love it. I went on a 3 day off highway trip in Virginia with 5 other riders on larger adventure bikes, and I was the only rider to not go down. I credit that my bike is more nimble by at least 100lbs and the Anakee Wild tires. The previous owner did the Zhard exhaust and decat. I've added crash bars and lower dresser bars. Plan to do the tail tidy soon. The 7 hours of highway miles on the ride home from Virginia was an absolute beating. I think for future off highway adventuring at some distance from home, I would trailer the bike instead of ride it.

    Congrats on the bike! The only thing that this bike lacks in I would say is highway protection from the wind, which makes the long trips not so much fun. But if you’re a motorhead like me/us? You don’t care haha 😛

    @@SBKSpecialties Actually, I was a little harsh on the bike. Any naked bike is going to be a little less comfortable than bikes with fairings or a nice windscreen. I was also wearing one of the cheaper adv helmets (Bell MX-09), which was extremely loud...stopped and picked up earplugs which made that more tolerable. Taking off the peak was mandatory less I wanted my head twisted off with a nice blast of wind off a semi truck. My first big boy bike was a naked cruiser. My other bike is an Indian Roadmaster for touring and 2 up riding with my wife. That's like riding a couch so for comfort, there is no real comparison. But, the Scrambler is sooo much funner to ride. The newness hasn't warn off after 5 months, and I doubt it will. If you ever come up to Tennessee to ride some of our famous roads like Tail of the Dragon, etc., hit me up. I live very nearby. We also have some good off highway riding which I'm still exploring.

    with regards to stalling, I had issues in the beginning as well. After about 1000 miles it went away, I think it might be the ECU not having enough time/data to properly adjust the to the environment that the bike is running in. For any new owners, try the "12 minute tune" and see if it helps

    I did the same, test rode a Ducati Scrambler, always wanted a Ducati.Anyway, it just did not do it for me. Took the Scramble out and said to myself this is the bike for me. Gotta agree with everything you say. I'm more of an on road rider, but its a do it all bike... love the tank rap and upgrades. I also love the tail light. Just a a tip when you do the tail tidy. Make sure you bring the turn signals in tighter. If you don't, you will melt the right side turn signal. The Zard's may have a little better clearance, but be aware. I replaced mine with the shorter versions from Triumph. I did a cat delete, I cut the stock pipe apart and removed the cat. It made the heat issue a lot less of an issue. It also sounds great, not as loud as yours but its sound so much better than stock. I'm going with a DNK tune, its gets great reviews on low speed fueling with no jerky throttle. The Booster plug helped a lot, but the DNK tune fixes that with the added bonus of more power. It adds another 1000 rpm in the rev range. bike looks great, ride safe.

    Any problems with fueling having both the decat and the slip-on installed? I have the decat installed a while ago and currently thinking about getting my hands on a aftermarket exhaust. I just wonder if I would have the remap the engine in that case. Second question, does the slip-on help to cool the exhaust further down compared to just running the decat?

  • @SBKSpecialties

    @SBKSpecialties

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Dan, thanks for watching. So, as far as heat on the actual slip-on “can” I can only compare the stock exhaust to the Zard exhaust’s and can tell you that they run way cooler than the OEM ones. Regarding re-mapping it is always recommended whenever doing changes to the Air/Fuel mix to make sure the bike is running in optimal conditions, however these bikes have a self-adjusting ECU which will compensate for minor changes such as decat/slipons/air filter etc. TEC bike parts has a very informative video on this process on their KZread channel. I haven’t remapped but I’m likely doing the DNK Tuneworks to the bike soon. Cheers and safe riding
