Last June I took delivery of my 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200XC. It was a press fleet bike, so it had 1850 miles on it, but that also meant that it was 2/3 of the MSRP (I was out the door at $9,999), and came to me as a new sale with a complete, full factory warranty. Since I've had my Triumph it's been my primary commuter, and I'll see 12,000 miles on the clock this month. I have no real complaints regarding my Triumph, but you may find (as I did) that if you don't turn-off the key fob when you're not riding (hold the button until the led goes red), the battery in it will only last about a month, and you'll start getting an annoying "key out of range" icon on the TFT. I also learned that Triumph tries to discourage consumers from performing their own service and maintenance. When I hit 10k on the odometer the service icon illuminated on the TFT, and I dutifully performed my 10k service. It was then that I discovered that there is no way to shut off the service icon without taking the bike to the dealer (who may, or may not charge you a fee to plug into their equipment and clear the icon). I hit the interwebs, and found a blue-tooth scan tool on Amazon that plugs into the ALDL behind the left side cover (less than $30), and there is an Android-based app ($11) that allows you to not only clear the service icon from the TFT, but gives you the ability to diagnose and trouble shoot anything and everything that is electrical on the bike; an excellent investment if you don't want to be bothered with the time and expense of taking your Triumph to the dealer every time you need to clear a service icon from the TFT. I should also mention that I'm not affiliated or compensated in any way shape or form by the developers or purveyors of the scan tool or the app to accomplish these maintenance tasks. Anyway, the Scrambler 1200XC has been an ideal bike for commuting and recreational riding where I live and work in southern California's Mojave desert. The bike does extremely well on the asphalt, and pretty good for a bike it's weight on hard-ball or packed dirt. When the sand starts to get deep, things get a little sketchy, but it could just as easily be a function of my ability (or lack there-of) to ride the bike in those conditions. In closing, congratulations on your new Triumph! I predict that you will really enjoy the bike, and have a long, happy relationship with it, as I am having with mine.

Hey Roman. A friend of mine bought that bike a year ago. I have to say, that bike is surprisingly good in the dirt. I have a tiger xca and we've done some pretty rough dirt roads in arizona. That scrambler handles them great. I think you are going to be really happy with it.

As you said, this bike is quite heavy for dirt riding. I remember when the Honda 305 Scrambler came along. that bike was a blast to ride back in the day. Those high mounted exhaust pipes really made the look of the bike great, along with the knobby tires. The sound too was very different and sweet. I don't recall the weight of the bike, but it was quite manageable. As I recall, Triumph built a scrambler back then, as well.

Really convenient. i love this triumph scrambler 1200XC

You’re going to really enjoy that bike, I have an XE and it’s pretty modern on one hand but harkens back to a time when motorcycling was simple and elemental. Bring an extra non-battery key with you because if your battery dies you can use the alternate key under the seat to start it. For those who are concerned about the leg heater if you can keep the speed up a little bit like 30ish mph it’s not bad at all. Slower going will have you feeling some heat once it is warmed up. Roman should get the blue tooth module, I hear you can start stop your blue tooth enabled GoPro from the handlebar controls with it.

It has the ability to connect via Bluetooth so you can see if you’re getting a call or text. You can do even more but I just keep it simple and respond when I’m stopped. Simple is safer I think.

You press (and hold) the Triumph logo on the key fob to turn off the signal which prevents someone potentially stealing the bike by relaying the signal from inside your house to the bike. Like the classic keyless entry car theft. The little WiFi symbol changes from green to red. It's not to see of the battery is good or not.

Looked into 2020 desert sled and purchased one in February... am loving it... don’t know if I will get rid of my bonneville (it is paid for)... but if I could only keep one bike it would be the desert sled... it doesn’t have all the gizmos but I think desert sled is much better scrambler

@@fasthracing like I thought, you don't own one. The "gearbox" problem fillingham carried on about was actually the gear selector on a few bikes, not scrambler 1200's either! Triumph replaced those ones under warranty and if not under warranty its a cheap part and easy job to replace. The isolated case of one mechanic claimed to have charged 2k to do this was either an unscrupulous mechanic or a tall tale. Designed in England, made in Thailand. Triumph dont hide the fact. The days of Britain being a world leader in manufacturing are long gone. Like I stated before, best bike I've ever owned and at 53, I've had a few, including an older model thruxton which was made in the UK. This one is far superior in every way, including fit and finish. @3:22 re the key fob "it lights up and tells you how strong the battery is" - WTF? The button is to check the STATUS of the fob and to turn it on and off. A short press showing red means the fob is off - green = on. A long press changes the mode. This is to save the battery in the fob and to make sure the electrical system isn't accidentally live should the the fob kept reasonably close to the bike. If you leave the fob on all the time the battery will run down in a couple of months and you'll start getting plagued with "fob not in range" errors - as you also will if it's fitted with a cheap generic CR2032 battery (like the rubbish they fit from the factory). Put a decent branded one in.

"The XE has more knobby tyres" (wrong) "the fob shows battery strength" (wrong), fails to mention the other extras on the XE such as IMU managed cornering ABS and traction control (non-IMU on the XC), off road pro mode, heated grips and handguards. Mentions the gas tank without mentioning it's seamless.

@@rickybobby8224 I'm into triumphs too but triumph didn't build a special edition bike named after me, and I didn't jump one over a fence in a famous movie.

Glad you got yourself a Triumph and glad you like it but please can you stop the references to the old Triumph company that went bust in the 1970's. The modern Triumphs are not related in anyway other than by name. There is no continuity of heritage. The new ones are probably better if somewhat over weight. Additionally they are not British (other than the design) - parts are from Taiwan and they are assembled in Thailand. I own a US spec 1978 Bonneville, it is lighter and far more spritely and nimble than the modern Bonneville. It is far less reliable I would guess. I have owned modern Triumphs and they are sweet but since the change to Thai assembly they have lost something.

Moving production to Thailand was simply unacceptable - they're still expecting "premium" Brit-bike prices for a Thai bike - this will be their undoing. I don't mind if cheaper bikes were built there to compete - like the new Trident - the premium bikes should have stayed UK made. That's what you get for putting your idiot globalist son in charge - knows the value of nothing.

Nice bike Roman! If you should ever find the exhaust getting too hot for your leg then a good way to combat that is to decat the front section and fit a new silencer end can aswell. The omission of the catalyst drops the temps dramatically through the pipe and helps greatly. There's a video of a UK company that sells a kit that looks sweet! kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4GFrquxmteupMY.html

The fob is not required to start the bike - the two other standard keys supplied with the bike will start it, you just need to hold them near one of the RF sensors.

What annoys me about this channel is that they use the word "Review" as if it is an objective endeavor. His key gets 'stuck' in a brand new bike, and that doesn't raise an alarm or warrant a comment, okay, maybe. but when his phone doesn't fit into the phone cubby, and so then he uses deceptive editing to make it look like it does is manipulation. This channel NEEDS to be profitable so much so, they are just schilling products for manufacturers under the guise of a review. What does he point out as a criticism? A break reserve that he can later pitch a replacement for.. sell, sell, sell.
