Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher and author, born in Germany and educated at the Universities of London and Cambridge. At the age of 29 a profound inner transformation radically changed the course of his life. He devoted the next several years to understanding, integrating, and deepening that transformation. With his international bestsellers, The Power of Now and A New Earth-translated into over 52 languages-he has introduced millions to the joy and freedom of living life in the present moment. The New York Times has described him as “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”, and Watkins Review has named him “the most spiritually influential person in the world.”
Eckhart’s profound, yet simple teachings have helped countless people around the globe experience a state of vibrantly alive inner peace in their daily lives. His teachings focus on awakening consciousness, which transcends ego and discursive thinking, and can be seen as the next step in human evolution. In the awakened state of presence, we discover what Eckhart describes as our essential identity-who we are beneath the surface-and its power for transforming our selves and our world.

Roxana, To feel better reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath and mind [brain] are closely related causing stress-anxiety. For a better life sit on a chair, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. Change happens from within by itself. Day or night, when taking a walk, sitting in a park, when reading, at office, before sleep etc sit or lie down and observe your breath. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Reduce negative social media. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes. Senior Counsellor.

What truly has worked for me from Eckhart's teachings when it comes to dealing with fear and anxiety, is knowing that the thoughts and feelings such as heart palpitations are not me but are the pain body wanting to take over. I then bring my awareness to the feelings of fear or anxiety and assert "That is not me" while holding my focused awareness on my heart or whatever part of the body is suffering. Within seconds, the feelings dissolve and fear/anxiety is gone. Love you Eckhart!

It took me several years of consistent daily meditation to be able to relate to what he’s saying. The fear never really goes away, just your relationship to it changes. I’ll at times say to myself, this is fear, or rumination, or this is me being irritated. Once you become aware and present with your thoughts and use your emotions as a gauge, they can’t really hurt you and you see it for what they are, just thoughts. I still have a narcissistic father in my life, thoughts of my childhood emerge, and present day issues happen, and sure I get caught sometimes but the awareness takes their power away..and you’re just left with now.

Oh! I forgot to ask, what kind of daily meditation do you do? How many minutes? How many times a day? I do the Headspace meditation app... though I’ve got almost 2,000 consecutive days of daily practice, I still struggle with fear and sometimes even feeling terrified... I’m a 2nd generation Holocaust survivor., and witnessed my dad suffer with Cancer from age 9 to 11 years old....I had no emotional support during that period....am in therapy and am just beginning to accept feelings of fear without freaking out....I believe my mom - though very loving - was also narcissistic, though I don’t blame her, as she grew up in a very abusive home.and had to fend for herself. . @@aaronfarkas6890 HI, congrats for sustaining your practice for so long. I've never tried the apps but personally I practice 40 minutes daily, 20 minutes in the morning and 20 in the late afternoon. My practice of choice is breath awareness, with occasional gratitude sessions during the week. I'm sorry for your suffering but, as Eckart has said, it's the suffering that can lead us to a place of acceptance and awareness. I have the fearful thoughts come up also, it's normal, but again it's whether or not we are aware and therefore benefit from a conscious choice about how to respond.

If I can’t fight this anxiety I might as well accept and be fine with it. I don’t want to resist it anymore. I don’t mind you sitting there, mr anxiety. Feel at home in my stomach, explore it, you’re free to stay as long as you need to, mr anxiety. -- When I start being aware of my anxiety and start talking to it like it’s a conscious being, it disappears on its own. It’s like anxiety is alive and as soon as it realize I notice it and am friendly, not resisting it, the anxiety loses its interest in being there. It can only torture you when you’re not fully present.

I reread Eckhart's book 'A New Earth' again recently after a profound spiritual awakening and there was something he said that literally transformed the way I see life, and practically obliterated all fear and concern I had about where life was taking me. In one profound sentence he said "life is the dancer, you are the dance". 8 years ago when I first bought the book, I would never have known what that meant. Most people think it's the other way around. Now I realise in that simple statement, there is nothing left to fear. Whenever anxiety arises again, I just think of those words and feel deeply that truth in my body. Awareness and allowing are absolutely the keys to shining the light on the soul and the deeper sense that there is a spiritual consciousness underneath it all that is guiding us to higher dimensions of self-realisation. We don't have to mentally understand it, just surrender and trust that it is so. For a further amazing read if you're scared about what the future holds, read Michael Singer's book 'The Surrender Experiment' and his first work, 'The Untethered Soul'. Changed my life. Much love and respect to all of you on the journey. xx

I recently had a night terror. I read Tolle's book New Earth years ago and have made strides in my spiritual progress since then. I felt like I was beyond terrors like that and my mind was running wild with REASONS why it was happening and eventually my thoughts started to even laugh at me because I couldn't stop it. This lesson was such a blessing because I now know how to handle it. It was a humbling experience more than anything. As it turns out being present isn't an instant problem solver. You have to STAY present and eventually the problem will go. But even as Tolle said in this video, is the terror really even a problem? Or an opportunity to grow? Brilliant lesson. Much love and respect to you.

The wisdom and genius of your presentation hit me at minute 11:30! What I have learned from your presentation today is the power of accepting my anxiety as it is right now. Right now. Not to embrace it, but to accept it. I tried this and I felt incredibly calm. I felt peace for a moment. I can do this work every minute that I feel my anxiety wash over me. I completely agree that trying to replace anxious moments with 'pleasant' affirmations is useless. I learned that embracing yet not reacting to anxiety is a powerful, loving embrace of my entire self. Thank you Mr. Tolle. You've given me a powerful resource.

I am so grateful for this message from Eckhard. I am suffering from anxiety disorder and have this background anxiety in my chest almost every day since my childhood. When i started reading A New Earth it helped me already a lot to understand the connection between thoughts and the emotion "fear". Since 5 years a have a sleeping disorder and the anxiety grew bigger because i was fearful of not getting enough sleep. The anxiety pain in my chest was almost unbearable. It is still there but now i have tools to deal with it. Eckhard helped me so much improving my life and I know..if I am not in peace its because I not practise being in the present momnent enough. Being aware and holding still minimilizes the pain of the anxiety...but its something that needs to be practised...once i feel better for some days i tend to give too much attention to the surface reality again until fear comes back. The feeling of peace that arises when I am free from thoughts for a while and just be in this moment is so beautiful. No activity in the outer world can give me that. Again Thank you for this Video. I am sure many people with anxiety can relate to what Eckhard says. Much love from Germany

Anxiety, fear and all feelings that we tend to run from, have resistance to, if invited IN, and made to feel welcomed,, it's then that a feeling of spaciousness arises and even relief to a greater degree. Like in childbirth, if we tense up, resist, the pain is much greater. Treating all feelings as 'welcomed guests' is so tender and softening within us .... Speaking from experience. Also, seeing anxiety and fear as 'reminders' to come back to the moment... as Eckhart says here, in the Present Moment it's almost always 'okay' ~

3:26- Once you observe Fearful thoughts, you start to dissociate then you can break the vicious circle of fear/anxiety If you immediately replace fear with positive thoughts, it will not be effective Replace it with awareness/gaps Fearful thoughts may still arise, you recognize them and even their futility Dony try to run away from what you are feeling or to get rid of it, just accept the emotion as it is. Accept 'what is' as it is. Say "I don't mind being anxious", sounds weird but try it. Try this with any type of unhappiness Same energy that was fear after acceptance gets transmuted to power/higher intelligence

I am now able to sit with the feelings while being present and acknowledging the thought and feelings are there and let them go. The feelings and emotions subside gradually and go. However the body effect of the emotions of the thought has intensified but accept them by staying present because they are just thoughts that you are feeling or thinking at this time and don't make them true. Stay with it and they will subside giving you more power within you that you can overcome anything.🙏🙏🙏

Holy Moly ~ 16:33 When you accept it, (fear, anxiety, pain, death..), COMPLETELY, there is a transmutation of this energy into intense presence. Intense awareness is a higher intelligence. Fear accepted is fuel for consciousness. ~ My personal add on is ground your energy by going outside barefoot and connect with Mother.

Thank you, Eckhart, for this video on fear and anxiety ! When I am present in the moment, even while I listen to you speaking, there is a calmness that settles within, feeling whole again. I appreciate what you do, sharing your experiences and thoughts on the NOW !

I wish they would teach this in nursery school kindergarten and up. To children how to handle their anxious thoughts. Which I call ANTS.....Anxious Negative Thoughts....... Coping skills seem Never to be TAUGHT until we are Suffering & NEED them........So much Anxiety & Depression in the WORLD right now..........Pray for the young parents & their children.......SHARE LOVE ,COMPASSION & Support...... It’s FREE & makes the World a Much better Place🙏🙏🌿🌻🌻❤️

EXCELLENT!!!! The Truth!!!! Very very very helpfull. I also find that if I sit with anxiety and otehr uncomfortbale feelings, I can transform them in a dramtic moment, or maybe they trasnform me!?!!! ANd then there is sense of freedom and growth on the other side. Intense pain and then its over, just a very short time and then a sense of growth and freedom and on to th e next challenge, road bloc, difficult feelings, etc. I actually try to cultivate these difficult feelings now so I can directly engage them with my awareness. THis must be exactly what the Buddha did when he sat so long, even going into painfull feelings of his previoous lives!!!!!! This has really inspired me to face my anxiety!!! Its been there so long. About time I really faced and addressed it and I am defintiely ready even though I feel fearfull as well. My kingdon for the dissolution of all these thoughts and feelings!!!! Smile!!! THANK YOU Exckharte!!! I am back on track!!!
