Train Restoration: Terrier Tank Engine Knowle 32678 West Somerset Railway Minehead

Super8 film frame by frame digitising service.
This Terrier Class Tank Engine was manufactured in 1880 by the London Brighton and South Coast Railway and possibly spent some of its early years on the London Underground. It was purchased by a group of friends including Bob Emett and Bob Parker in the late 70s from Butlins Minehead where it stood for many years guarding the gate. The film shows the boiler being restored - it needed new tubes. The boiler is removed from the chassis by a hoist on a mobile crane. A trip to the Isle of Wight follows, to visit another fully restored Terrier and to purchase some Westinghouse brakes.
This video was digitised by moviescan.co.uk who provide cine to digital file transfer for 8mm, 16mm and 9.5mm film as well as VHS and camcorder tapes. The film has had a stabiliser applied and cropped top and bottom to present at 16:9 aspect ratio. Although some of the shots are a little out of focus , it represents an interesting record of the trains restoration.
