Born in the Bronx during the Golden Age of Hip-Hop, World Of Troop launched in 1985 and instantly made their mark on the history of urban fashion. and was targeted towards Latino and African - American urban culture and founded by 2 jewish brothers and a Korean.
Troop jacket and Troop sneaker releases. LL Cool J, MC Hammer, Ultramagnetic MCs, Stetsasonic, Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Flava Flav, all rocked with TROOP
Troop went Bankrupt soon after rumors spread that the company was actually owned by the KKK (TeddyHeld). Troop was rumored to stand for - To Rule Over Oppressed People.
But the owner said TROOP stood for - Total Respect Of Oppressed People
Rumors said there were hidden messages under the soles and lining.
LL Cool J went on Oprah and urged viewers to protest the company, even tore his jacket up. The rumors were false, but sales were ruined in the US which made about 80 million in total. In the 90s however Troop was still around in Europe.
Nelly actually obtained the TROOP apparel license in 2014.
And in 2015 they had a relaunch of retro tees, jackets and footwear.

BK was launched in 1983 as a casual sneaker company, which exploded in 1985. Was recognized more for fashion that performance originally. “The shoe aint nothing without a BK Button”
1990 they signed MC Hammer the biggest star in music at the time, BK sponsored his tours and a lot of mainstream attention was brought to BK.
In 1991 the Dymacel technology was introduced for sports and they had Derrick Coleman of the Nets (#1 Draft pick in 1990 and Rookie of the yr in 1991) Dymacel had moderate success
BK got a bad rap since it had heavy gang affiliation due to BK misrepresented as “Blood Killer”, and rival gang of the Crips. Schools and universities banned the shoes to help stop gang violence.
In 2014 the company relaunched and tried to like a spark with a new generation of consumers, but as we know, competition is rough now a days, and we haven’t seen much movement from the brand.

totally get that, what I mean is that the brand reached the MASSES at one point, where just regular people who didnt skate still rocked DC, but now its reverted back to only skaters it seems like, no mainstream light.

Pony used to be a lifetime shoes, I loved those sneakers.
A few months ago I was browsing Amazon and it amazed me to see BKs on sale! They were absolutely HUGE for a very short period of time when I was in elementary school. All the cool kids wore them. We never could afford any back then, of course I clicked the buy it now button so I could live my childhood dreams. They're cheap too, like 20 bucks on sale. I think the modern retro remakes are probably cheaper quality than the originals, but they're serviceable and still look cool imo. I wear them every now and then and almost every time I get people commenting about them, saying they didn't know British Knights were still sold.
K Swiss was my jam back in 2000 when I was in HS. Everyone had a pair of the all whites with the laces tucked in the shoe, LMAO.

Troop was HUGE in the UK back in the day, rocked a few pairs in my early teens. BK can still be bought but mainly thru a discount sports retailer.

PONY was right up there with Nike, Puma, Adidas back in the early to mid 80s. I loved them. Plus they ruled boxing shoes for about 20 years. Larry Holmes, Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers all rocked Pony. As well as 1,000 other Boxers. Best boxing shoes EVER.

I personally think that the troop rumor was a type of sabotage 🤔. To a certain extent I feel the same way about BK.
Back in 89 when I was 14 I was on the Kids Game Show Fun House and BK was a sponsor and I got a pair of Hightops with the Giant Tongues as all Contestants wore them on the show.
I was wearing a pair of white/lime/fuchsia BK Control mids today (purchased from the BritishKnights website). The shoes have held up for three years and with some upkeep and angelus paint I've been able to wear the shoes regularly in the spring/summers and have even worn them in a few basketball trainings in the past two years when I was traveling and didn't have time to get back in time to get my gear. The shoe can keep up with you n it will last. To this day the shoe still has a nice leather smell to it...my color way is mostly made of tumbled leather, smooth leather and suede. Originally retailed at $130..right now they are a steal at $55!

I just purchased 5 pairs of Diadora shoes today off of 6PM. For the price I paid for each pair they will totally be worth it for work shoes.

Interesting. I got 3 pairs of BK Copal Mid Top in black, dark brown, and tan. A casual, quasi-formal shoe i rather enjoy wearing in the Fall/Winter, or for a more formal occasion when i just want to be comfortable without looking too sporty. I didn't knew the brand had history. I'm in the market for a few K-Swiss shoes that should arrive soon. A pair of Court Cheswick in Black/White, and a couple pairs of Court Pro II SP in Forest, and Chocolat/Egret.

I'm an 80's kid, so this brings me back. But what brought me to this video today though was because a friend from high school just copped a fresh pair of Diadora's! As soon as I saw it, it made me think of Troop and those thick leather Troop jackets... might cop a new pair at World of Troop one of these days

THE SAME RUMOR ABOUT TROOP BRAND WAS RUMORED ABOUT BRITISH KNIGHTS, I LOVED MY BK BOOTS IN 88
I never see Ewing 33's anymore, not sure who made them but I still have pairs in a whole bunch of different colors like purple, mustard, red, green etc.. I used to love their extra, extra puffed up look and feel when they were around.

I bought a pair of K-Swiss Casper court's on a whim at the beginning of the summer. I normally wear puma classics and Superstars but these are super nice and were clean as hell. I spend as much time cleaning these up and making them look nice as I do anything else I own.

You may not know this, but brands such as Airwalk, LeCoq Sportif, DC Shoes, Emerica, Etnies, Circa, Kappa, Diadora, and even L.A Gear, are very present in Argentina (a country in South America). I live here, and it's really common to see those brands, what's more, they are not even cheap shoes haha
We need part 3 and most definitely The Fila shoe lol....
Lotto, Spotbilt, Ellesse, Travel Fox are a few more that arent all gone but arent either well known or are out of business
What about Keepas, think that's what the name was, they had colored triangles you could swap out for different looks.
