Karhu is a Finnish sports brand. Karhu, meaning bear in Finnish, was first using as a sporting goods brand in 1916
It uses a Fulcrum technology in its running shoes developed in the 1980s. They also have an originals line that caters to the retro runner vibes, which is how I recognize this brand.
Fun Fact:
In 1951, Karhu sold the three stripes trademark it had been using to a then little known German brand called Adidas for the equivalent of 1600 euros and two bottles of whiskey.[2][3] In the 1960s Karhu began to use the M-logo,[1] which is still in use on Karhu shoes.

At first glance these look like a fairly standard casual mens shoe, but when you look closer, you see quality craftmanship and some cool stitching on the back, which is actually the Roman Numerals for "288".
While it looks like the company had a big push in 2015, they haven't posted anything on IG since 2017, so it may be too late to purchase these sneakers. The product looked very high quality however with premium leathers, its a shame this brand didnt pick up steam.

2 Crossover Culture
In a saturated market of Basketball sneakers, this brand has my attention. While I dont love the name, as it sounds a bit generic, the logo is exceptional, also the design of some of the models are very stylish, even the ones built with performance as the primary function, sort of reminds me of a newer more stylish Way of Wade model.

I know I know, why is this the #1 spot? well I found the long standing history of this company very interesting! You see, SeaVees was founded in 1964 by B.F. Goodrich, a tire company which, like many, used their rubber in footwear. The B.F. Goodrich’s sneaker division was purchased by Converse in 1969, however in 1971 the Justice Department declared it a monopoly and converse shut down SeaVees.
So for almost 40 years the brand remained dormant until Steven Tiller was walking around Tokyo and found a vintage pair of Seavees in a thrift shop and he started researching the roots of the company. He bought the company and started producing Seavees again in 2010 and in the original form on the 1960s. If you have seen this brand and thought "its an impostor" to converse, its fun to know the history on why it may look similar.

Hoka OneOne is pretty popular among runners and they are the epitome of the chunky shoes. Karhu is pretty popular in Europe by the way :) Didn’t hear of the other ones, interesting facts!

just came across your channel, good stuff i dig it alot, can we get an ACG exclusive episode and some of the tech in those shoes? or Nike Terra shoe's? the good ones from the mid 90's lol
Cool video. Looking forward to Part 2 if you do get around to it. I actually have a pair of Karhu Aria and the materials on it are top notch. Pretty good comfort-wise, think Gel Lyte III (although not quite on the same level). Kanye rocked the Karhu Fusion about a year ago too. Surprised they don't have more collabs. I've seen maybe one or two. Also Nightwing did do a video or two on one of the Crossover Culture sneakers.
hoka is actually a well-known brand in the running community. some of their shoes are kinda ugly but they make some of the best performance running shoes on the market.

I've had skoras before, by far one of my favorite running shoes. I got a bad back and these are the only shoes that made it possible for me to run long distances without any pain on my back.

This video reminded me of the brand Creative Recreations. I never owned a pair but I remember them being an upcoming brand back in 2009-2011 when I was in high school. Now they don't have any presence in today's sneaker culture so much so that I forgot about them until watching your video Hes.

Sexysaurus Rex they're $140, but if you live in a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean, the shipping price is crazy. It's hard to come by to find a karhu retro under $100

I'm assuming that this the same Karhu that made cross country ski equipment? I grew up in northern Canada and Karhu was huge in the X-country skiing.

Was interesting how Karhu originally owned the 3-stripe branding. They actually have gain popularity in the states, in streetwear culture after Kanye I think was seen wearing on some older instagram post
Love Karhu! They're the only brand I heard about from this list and Hoka from the honourable mentions.

That's cool, Finland is a great country. The Karhu shoes are awesome, they remind me of the retro Asics stuff like the Gel Lytes, which I'm a huge fan of.

It's actually Ryka...I was a buyer for a sneaker shop when they were introduced and disappeared...so I have a little inside into there...and it's Kaepa...actually looking at a keychain from that company right now...don't know about Van grack...Ellesse and Le Coq Sportif are correct...nice suggestions! U forgot "Bucketfeet", I had a pair and they where dope af...the kind i had was like a cross between Vans and Keds. Fucking dope shoes they where. Rocked them till they were talking when I walked with them. And even then they looked dope still, coulda pulled them off like some Golden Goose shoes. The rain here in Oregon obviously won the battle and I retired them but still holding on to them
