Best Shoe Cushion? Adidas Boost vs Bounce vs CloudFoam Comparison!
• Best Shoe Cushion? Adi...
WHAT I-S MAX AIR TECHNOLOGY?
Shoes with Max Air technology feature less midsole material and larger-volume airbags for lighter weight and maximum cushioning you can see.
First Shoe w Nike Air? 1979 Air Tailwind - First visible unit was Air Max 1, First Basketball shoe was the Air Force 1.
Pros - can absorb impact, nostalga, walking on air never gets old.
Cons - not the most comfortable cushioning or shock absorbing product on the market.
WHAT IS NIKE ZOOM?
Tensile Air it was called.
Nike Zoom cushioning is part of the Nike Air family. Like its siblings, Nike Zoom is lightweight and durable.
After impact, the tightly stretched fibers inside the pressurized air unit quickly bounce back into shape, providing a super responsive feel and improved awareness of the surface you’re playing on.
First Shoe with Nike Zoom? Nike Air Go LWP shoe in 1995
Pros - made for quick cuts, for high impact you do get responiveness (vid of 2 humans w yoga balls running at each other lol). Thin, and light
Cons - you can blow out the Zoom Unit, literally (image of blown zoom)
ZOOM AIR
What is Nike FREE
help-en-us.nike.com/app/answe...
www.complex.com/sneakers/2013/...
The idea behind Nike Free is simple: Improve your athletic performance by allowing your body to perform naturally. Nike Free shoes offer the proven benefits of barefoot training.
Allowed freedom, your toes will flex and grip, exercising muscles in a natural chain neglected in traditional footwear.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NIKE FREE 3.0, 4.0 AND 5.0
In the Nike Free continuum, the lower the number in a shoe’s name, the closer it is to barefoot running. On the continuum, 10.0 represents conventional footwear while zero represents the bare foot
First shoe with Nike Free? Nike Free 5.0 v1 in 2004
Pros - very flexible as expected. firmer cushioning for those that like bare feet feel. Light.
Cons - usually means upper is very snug to maximize flex of sole, might be too tight for some. runners should break in the shoe before running long distance to avoind shin splints
What is Nike Lunarlon
it was the fusion of lightweight Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) with the bouncy ball-like spring of Nitrile Rubber (NBR)
Lunarlon cushioning features a soft, yet resilient, foam core that is encased within a supportive foam carrier for lightweight, ultra-plush cushioning, springy response and support.
The innovative Lunarlon foam, invented by Nike, is 30 percent lighter than traditional Phylon and allows the force of impact to be more evenly distributed, which helps reduce painful pressure points on feet.
help-en-us.nike.com/app/answe...
news.nike.com/news/inside-acc...
First sneaker with Nike Lunarlon? 2008 Lunar Racer
Pros - tried and true. was innovative for its time. Comfy, Lunar Chukka flyknit was my Boost before there was Boost!
Cons - dated technology however still functional people say it bottoms out.
What is Nike React
news.nike.com/news/nike-react...
Nike React foam was developed in-house and the unique composition gives runners foam that is lighter, softer, more responsive and even more durable than Nike Lunar foam. Historically, these four elements have been solved for individually and it was difficult to deliver them in one package. However, Nike React technology delivers them in one.
With no carrier foam, glue etc, you stand directly on the foam, its exaggerated in size for a reason, to absorb more.
First shoe with Nike React? Hyperdunk 2017 & Jordan Superfly 2017 (both encased react) Epic React Flyknit 1st raw form shoe in 2018.
Pros? Lots of Cushion. Very soft, responsive. very light
Cons? Durability might be an issue or looks of visible wear.
Nike ZOOM X
news.nike.com/news/nike-zoom-...
Nike ZoomX cushioning-a newly designed, ultra-light foam-delivers our greatest energy return yet. Inside the foam, a carbon fiber plate springs up under your heel as you stride forward, giving you a propulsive feel.
The Nike VaporFly 4% has been stripped down to its most essential parts, so it’s light and fast as hell-and perfect for road races up to and including the marathon.
Durable rubber on heel protects against abrasions
Weight: 6.5 ounces (men's size 10/women's size 11.5)
Offset: 10mm
First Nike ZoomX Shoe? Nike Zm VaporFly 4% in 2017
Pros - Comfy, like best ever. Feels like you are rocking forward and is very responsive. Super Mega Light!!
Cons - Durability of foam.

In 1994 I had a pair of Nike Air Maxes, the ones at 1:54, that got a thorn in them and went flat when I out running and was miles from home. It altered my stride so badly that I got a hip flexor pull that didn't heal for at least a week. Several months later the exact same thing happened with a pair of Nike Air Skylons. So I missed several weeks of training due to Air units breaking. A year or two later I had a problem with a Brooks Hydroflow forefoot unit breaking five miles from home and I got a stress fracture out of it. From those experiences I learned to evaluate shoes for their potential of breaking mid-run and leaving me stranded.

For those who love mushy, marshmallowy type of cushioning, the best imo is the nike pegasus 35 turbo, it has a combination of nike zoom x and react foam that is super mushy. Second to it for the most mushy shoes would be the ultraboost then third is nike react shoes.
