Nike shoes are *way too expensive* given their middling to poor quality. The way Nikes are made, they should cost 40% less. Add in the bad vibes from their sweat shop abuse, and Nikes should cost 60%. Never again, Nike.

For a sports shoe you need consistency and Nike doesn't have that. You buy a shoe and you like, then you go back for replacements and either the shoe isn't made anymore or you buy the same shoe and the quality is completely trashed.

Nike is the fashion brand. There is no need to produce for many years one model. Each year Nike gives a new generation which has much higher perfomance. I am ultramarathon runner and I have been wore Pegasus for last 7 years and I fully satysfy with evolution. Yes, Pegasus 35, 36 were awful, the 37 had bad durability but 33, 34, 38, 40 were amaizing. Hope new Pegasus 41 will be have such cool perfomance as it looks. In my opinion, the biggest drawback of the current Nike Running is the lack of T-shirts in the right colours to match the shoes. Because wearing a black T-shirt all the time is so boring

It's not just the new CEO. Quallity was already going down the drain. But the new one really fucked them by going direct to consumer and cutting out the middleman without actually doing all the work that comes with building their own sales channels. It really gave exsisting retailers a reason to diversify and have a couple of other brands on their shelves in order to not get fucked if nike decides to pull their contract. That change really showcases how shit those shoes are in the mid price range.

Yeah, in 2020 they went digital in order to be vallued as a tech company and right now they push volume (discounts be damned). 10 years ago I rarely saw big discounts on nike shoed. Right now half the nike shoes are discounted at major retailers and these retailers seem to be carrying new brands that occupy nike's price point as well. And that should scare nike because it tells you that the stores are aware of how fickle nike is and that their customers either want a better quallity shoe in the 100-150 range or a similar quallity shoe but non brand in the 35-60 range.

That's been the western financial system for the last 40 years. It's also another reason why tax revenues are down. Dividends are not classed as revenue for the company. This means that the companies have a lower tax bill every year. The money that paid to shareholders should have been taxed at the corporate tax rate if it was classed as revenue, though when given to a shareholder the shareholder gets taxed at the capital of gains tax rate, which is usually lower. This is tax reduction has probably counted for trillions of dollars in lost revenue over the past 40 years. It's a scam, but everyone seems to turn a blind eye to it.

Whats more Asics has been just as innovative in the last 2-3 years as Nike and with the MetaSpeed Sky Paris has absolutely matched Nike in the supershoe race. All while being a significantly smaller company. Fun fact: Nike started out as an importer of Asics (then known as Onitsuka Tiger) shoes to the US. Phil Knight got a lot of the ideas for starting Nike upon visiting Asics in Japan and getting a tour of their company and meeting the founder of Asics Mr. Onitsuka. They are cheap junk. The cheap "store brand" shoes from the major retailers are quallity wise at the same level at this stage. I really ask myself sometimes if they even know what they are at this point. Are they a manufacturer of cheap shoes and some speciallity shoes? Or are they trying to sit in that middleground spot (not cheap but not too expensive either)? Quallity wise they are in the first group but price wise they are in the 2nd. Sorry but their whole strategy has to change.

Yeah, Jack welsh school of management in action. Quallity went to crap so nobody in their right mind buys at full retail but they want to improve volume. The issues they have are core issues. 1. Quallity is down the drain on their cheaper shoes. 2. They don't seem to know what drives their sales. 3. They have several identities but don't seem to know which ones to push. 4. When they want to fix quarterly earnings (not the company) they either try something "inovative" in order to be looked at as a tech company (aka please vallue me as a tech company) and piss off their retailers or they go back to them and push volume through them. God damn they need some balls and admit that the next year or 2 will be rough whilst they improve quallity (and qc) and then come up with a market strategy (and actually stick to it).

Right now, the soles are already letting lose on a pair I bought 3 months ago. It might be a angel disguise as a devil, because of this people will leave the brand and find the same quality shoes for 10 or 20 bucks while nike is €80/100 at the lowest. Now, their running shoes are the worst of all the higher profile brands - adidas, ASICS, new balance, saucony, even previously lesser brands like Puma, Mizuno, On, brooks, all make much more comfortable shoes that seem to last longer for better value. Last Nike shoes I bought were invincible 3’s - what a pair of 💩 shoes they were in almost every facet and expensive to boot. My guess is casual joggers are probably number one buyers of athletic footwear since it’s fastest way to wear down a pair shoes more than likely, and making bad running shoes just seem like the fastest way to the bottom.

Reasons why Nike is failing 1. Over reliance on brand name 2. Much cheaper replica sneaker becoming more accessible 3. Ugly/Mediocre quality footwear 4. Boomer CEO Tech/NFT sales strategy (that always fails) In general they are becoming ridiculously arrogant with the large marketshare they have, they expect that people will pay top dollar for anything that has a swoosh and they have pushed their luck so far that they are now having people walk away from the brand. Doesn’t help that sneakerheads are finally pivoting from the expensive shoes to good looking shoes. Scarcity won’t make up for an ugly product anymore and Nike needs to catch on to that.

New Balance became the trendsetter not because endorsements nor advertisement. That started coming in latter. They built their legacy on shoe fitting and decent workmanship in shoes. They would start a cathegory poorly ( golf shoes as an example ) but then build it up to standards ( baseball cleats ). Their fitting , if you bought the right size and fit , would be perfect , even if at the expense of looks. And their apparel held up to standards , not professional athlete standards , but sportswear for the casual practitioner durability and comfort. New Balanve used to be, at least around New England , the shoes your white middle class women and men past their thirties wore. Yet they were consistently durable and comfortable. A New Balance shoe , with the help of a knowledgeable store clerk , could be bought to fit your feet width and counteract your sole and heel wear pattern. They were as close as you could get a Doctor Scholls on athletic footwear.

As a sneakerhead for many years, trying to support Nike recently has been tough. They don’t do the “coveted” shoe thing correctly at all. The shoes that are relevant to sneakerhead culture are still super limited and then they over produce shoes they “think” we want. All the online releases are eaten up by bots so one person gets 20+ pairs. So then no one buys and they blame the consumers. Like no bro, we want to be able to buy classic Jordan colorways in store, not some ugly new colors and models that are “similar”. But the worst part is, when we can finally get the $200 shoe we’ve been coveting, 80% of the time it’s TRASH quality.

Both the zoom x and react x foam could have given ultra boost a run for the money, but they keep changing the design and composition every year, so you get a different shoe everytime. The inconsistency is what killed the react for me. Nike still makes great performance shoe but they have definitely lost the entire casual shoe and daily runner shoe market. The competitors have better options

Caitlin Clark plays in the WNBA (and is the reason why attendance is significantly up and viewership is also way up). Yeah she ain't tiger woods but she is looked at as tje future of female basketbal (and the person who can potentially make it a mainstream thing). So yeah it's a loss but Tiger Woods is also getting older so taking a risk on the potential future of a sport might actually pay off significantly. Only time can tell.

Utterly ridiculous comment. The most, financiallly, successful athlete ever was signed by Nike, just 1 year after being drafted. So he was a complete rookie. They're attempting the same thing here. Caitlin could, potentially, change the popularity of the WNBA in ways, nobody has. Basketball is much more popular than Golf.

Yeah, if you buy them new and only go after crazy hyped releases. Also the people paying resell are asinine. I usually buy mine used, and I save a lot of money that way if I can find them cheap or if it’s a hyped release I know I can’t get directly from store or online, I’ll just look at the counterfeit market. It’s not like Nike makes their shoes with the greatest quality anymore to warrant the price points they put.

As a sneakerhead, the shoes just cost too damn much now. Granted jordans have always been expensive since i got into shoes back around 2015 but to put it in perspective, when they dropped the true blue 3s in 2016 people were outraged cause they charged $225 for that pair cause it was supposed to be as close to the original as possible, regular price was $180 at that time for a general release pair of Js. Nowadays, most normal releases drop at $200 and alot of the more popular models droo around $215 retail price. So in less than 10 years, jordans prices went up by $35. That cant all be just inflation, its greed as well. They wanted to drive away resellers by reducing their profit margin but in reality they drove everyone away with the expensive prices. Ppl can't afford $200+ prices for a non essential purchase when groceries cost $100 nowadays
