In this video we''ll talk about when DC shoes was started and founded, what DC shoes stands for, what DC shoes has been worth over the years, who created and owns DC shoes, and more.
DC all started with an idea to create an apparel company, by two friends who met in community college: Damon Way and Ken Block. Starting 8 Ball clothing, they shifted to Droors Jeans, after issues over branding Trademarks.
Droors jeans became Droors clothing, which then transitioned to become DC shoes, as we know it today; a shoe company geared at providing technical skateboarding shoes. Fighting against brands like Champion and Converse (underneath Nike), DC fought for it's place in establishing a logo, eventually settling on the DC with the 7 point star.
Damon Way pulled in his brother, Danny, to ride for the brand, along with Colin Mckay, granting immediate respect. They then added industry icons like Stevie Williams, Josh Kalis, Greg Meyers, Lindsey Robertson, Caine Gayle, Rob Dyrdek, Rick Howard, Moses Itkonen, Keith Hufnagel, and others. Taking all of these infamous pros on the DC super tour, in 1997. They then went on to release the DC Video, showcasing the diversity and talent their team had to offer.
They soon added a snowboard division with great riders like Ikka Backstrom, Devun Walsh, and Torstien Horgmo.
DC has gone on to release multiple infamous shoes like the Lynx, Court, and Stevie williams pro model. They've also collaborated with brands such as Dime, Baker, and Supreme, and artists such as Kaws, or Andy Howell.
DC has navigated lawsuits with brands such as Dolce and Gabanna, DC comics, was bought out by Quiksilver, and has navigated bankruptcy. They've restructured several times, most notably in the rediscover DC campaign, where they added skaters like Mikey Taylor, Nyjah Huston, Wes Kremer, Evan Smith, T Funk, Will Marshall, Madars Apse, and more. DC has also had to part with beloved team members like Rob Dyrdek, Chris Cole, and Mikey Taylor when times got tough.
Over the years, they've let out iconic shoes such as the Lynx, the Court Graffik, the Kalis, the Legacy, the Stevie Williams Reason shoe, and more.

I remember being so happy with my Lynx kicks, I couldn't seem to wear them down. The bottoms ended up wearing out before I ever ripped the toe, something I never experienced before. Chris Cole is one of my all time favorites. SO awesome learning DC made the first batch of Fallens.
Favorite DC rider is Danny Way for sure. The guy was a better street skater with tech switch, insane handrails and stairs eclipsing legit street skaters and yet he is known as mostly a vert skater. Danny Way is the most naturally gifted skater of all time hands down!!!

I had no idea DC launched Fallen. Always saw DC more aligned with like a hip hop image and Fallen more gothy rock n roll vibes. Both great shoe companies.

DC Apex with gum sole was my first real skate shoe back in 97 in 7th grade.
Chris Cole will always be my favorite pro rider. Glad he is back with zero after all these years and if he could get back on with DC it would be like high school all over again!

Stevie, kalis and wenning, their was a time in early 2000s when everyone skating city hall/cecil (love was on lockdown) when everyone had white tees, hunchback steez and lynx just like wenning, myself included
I went to there "football shirt" demo in Utrecht. Good vibes
My favorites were the Boxer. Wanted the Stevie Williams but didn't have my size. Later had an airmax 360 style pair. Lost interest when I could only find Manteca and Mike shinoda styles. Noticed a difference and it makes sense they were owned by quicksilver. Knew a guy that later worked at their outlet store and would get $3 pairs and gear. He said they "went all corporate!".
Favorite era was the rediscover era. They should have made a full length vid with that team!!!!!!

Droors Clothing. DC. Mind Fucking Blown. Like you said, I always thought it was Danny & Colin. I remember in 95 having this nasty Droors toque I wore skating everyday...then one day the company was gone. I had no idea it was the same ownership as DC. Its funny cause I remember thinking Droors was the shit, I loved all those small companies and I wouldn't be caught dead wearing DC....unless it was a pair of Stevie Williams

My best skateboarding shoes where some used DC’s that my friend gave me I was at my peak of skateboarding they where so good I skated from 1995-2008 In Sandiego in Shelltown National city ,Logan ,clairmont Downtown SD
Fave rider? I remember when I started skating and saw DC, thinking Stevie and Kalis had the best style and shoes. Then when I started trying different shoes, the Manteca just worked for me. I picked up a pair recently and it’s a Manteca silhouette with a vulc sole. Super digging it for skating and it looks great.

I just bought a Mike Blabac photography boot that is loaded with iconic Love Park photos from the 90's and early 2000's sooo good!! He sells some on this website and instagram if you keep an eye out!
I actually have some of Nyjah Huston pro model DC Shoes in my collection that I got him to sign and when I got him to sign them he said “you got the OG pro model shoes” 😂

DC is well known about its bulky shoes . In China we call it a bread 🥯 like skate shoes. But they was beginning to make shoes in South Korea and then transferred to Vietnam. But DC officially landed in mainland China market thus we can buy a pair of DC shoes that is assured authentic not counterfeit DC product.

I'm confused, you rereleased the video, but you didn't correct the information about the logo lawsuit. It had nothing to do with Dolce & Gabbana, the logo Lawsuit is with Chanel. DC Can't put their star logo on anything Chanel made first, and yes, they actually made snowboards before DC.

Hi Levi, I would like to hear your opinion and suggestion regarding Skateboard wheels. I have recently bought a Santa Cruz deck, Blake Johnson "warrior" pro model 8.375 . I have assembled it with , Mob griptape, a pair of Independent trucks 149 , bones redz, and bones STF wheels. Things is that I have thought to use the very same setup that Blake Johnson rides, and basically it's exactly the same as mine except for the wheels, he doesn't ride Bones, he is sponsored by NHS so he rides Ricta, he has his own Ricta signature wheels also, but I can't find them anywhere online, so I've thought to get some other Rictas that may have a similar durometer and shape. But to be honest I have always been Skateboarding spitfire,or bones, I have never tried Ricta and I don't want to buy something that may disappoint me and makes me regret of my purchase. I have seen that Ricta Sparks are so cheap, but just for this reason I am not too convinced of their quality. I have seen Ricta Rapido that may be okay, but again I need someone expert who can recommend the right wheels.

Yo Rodney!! First off Bones STF are great wheels! Still one of the most popular wheels in the store. Ricta Sparks are not great wheels, we had some and had warrenty issues with them. But the Rapido's are really good, we've had lots of good response to them so far! I was riding some OJ's for a while that I LOVED and they're made at the same factory as Ricta's high end stuff. My opinion would be give em shot! Remember to pay attention to the shape and durometer, because they made 99/101 and different shapes in the Rapidos. Let me know what you do and what you think!!!

I am in the UK, I would like to buy from your shop, but I think you said recently that you don't sell to the UK at the moment, so I will probably get them from Slam City Skates. @@ShredzShop hi Levi, I have ordered a set of Ricta Jereme Knibbs pro, wide, 53mm, 99a. Which are the same shape, size and durometer of the Blake Johnson pro Ricta wheels. I can't wait to try them. Since I have 3 set-ups I have realized to ride Ricta always with the Santa Cruz deck, I will use Bones wheels only with my Powell Peralta decks set-ups, and I will use Spitfire wheels only with my random decks set-ups which at the moment is a Clint Walker birdhouse that will be soon replaced by a John Fitzgerald "Hellhole" Hockey deck that recently I bought. So I can say that I am enjoying and having fun with a variety of good boards and wheels.

Born in 95. I never really got into dc but I saw it everywhere on Skate 3 so I was like what's this brand? I've seen the show Ridiculousness.. and I watch Hoonigan's Ken Block Gymkahana and a shitload of Daily Transmissions Later and was like holy crap Ken Block did DC? and then I just forgot about it and didn't really care. I saw Rob Dyrdek from Skate 3, too, and I noticed he was a stunt man on a Gymkahana video. I was like woah, Really????? That's cool! years later when I discovered Ken Block. Then on a random evening I saw with my dad Ridiculousness and I was like "holy shit this dude's from this one video I like by Ken Block and Skate 3 and...Yadayadayada Didn't pay much attention to it, Just loved the videos Basically AFV but modern day, Amazingness. Fast Forward more years There was a documentary this year that came out that I saw with my dad about Rob Dyrdek's career and I was like.. WHAT THE FUCK... he worked with Danny Way, DC Shoes, and Ken Block was a Founder? wait a second? I literally researched everything I could about them and today I just got my first DC shoes in the mail. Got a Hoonigan hat on my desk for when I want to go outside Dangit, man, Shit I believe in Full circle So I've realized I never wanted DC shoes until this year and I want it from the inspiration of some of the greatest people of all time. Drifters, Rally Drivers, Skateboarders, Entrepreneurs, Creators, Designers, and If it wasn't for DC Yeezys would not be a thing Colabs would not be a thing (this shit's everywhere.. holy fff) Like literally Skate 3 wouldn't have been a thing I wouldn't have ever stacked clips on Instagram on Skater XL I wouldn't even have continued making music if It weren't for DC indirectly So I guess I can keep on going on and... I bought some shoes and slides for Rob and Ken but I realize today we need to bring DC BACK!!!!!!!! I hope all goes up from here, man!
Only DC shoes I ever owned were the Plugs because they were waterproof. Didn't skate them though.
