    Coach, I just joined football and I was there for summer workouts but I still wanna be the best running back that I can and last night I prayed to God to help me become that and I think this is the answer to my prayer. Thank you and I was wondering what can I do to get better at being a rb. I’m 5’8 and 145.

    Two words. Squat rack. Learn good form. Break parallel (no need to atg, but IMO breaking parallel is important). Everything else after that is secondary, tertiary, or doesnt matter.

    I love how you comment to the kids on the section. I used to be an aspiring college football player but I was homeschooled and played for a very small team. I had to do all the workouts myself. I designed all my own programs and I did my own recruiting with help from literally no one. Now I’m a coach at the junior high level. Love your content man! I wish I had this stuff when I was younger. I’m definitely going to use your content and refer my players to your channel. I’m going to take a look at your programs and maybe pick a couple up. Do you have any advice regarding younger athletes? I know most of it is about technique and fundamentals. Do you advise me to start weight training 11-14 year olds?

    Former wrestler here! Would you recommend implementing certain strongman movements into the training? I got atlas stones, a yoke carry frame, farmers carry /carry weights, a strongman log and a big tractor tire. I'm 34 years old but would really like to try the sport and so i use the implements in daily training anyways so i wonder how much of a carryover it can give 😊 I've been thinking of getting a truck pull harness + ropes and sandbags + circus dumbells. I use these other implements to practise moving more with wrights but yeah, i wonder what carryover they would have. Peace!

    Coach , when it comes to power cleans and power snatches, is the goal to progress over time or is it to keep them light and explosive?

  • @GarageStrength

    @GarageStrength

    3 жыл бұрын

    Progress over time, but adjust weight as needed during the season

  • @benfontenot9896

    @benfontenot9896

    3 жыл бұрын

    I would say both. Warm up with light weights and really focus on explosion and in the off season on your last sets don’t be afraid to chase a PR every once in a while. Also, when chasing a PR, pay attention to your weak points if you’re really focusing on getting your power clean up. Are you weak out of the hole? Or can you just not pull the weight up high enough? Or is it getting the weight off of the floor? If you’re weak in the whole, you want to work on the front squat, if you’re having trouble getting the weight up, work on a high pull or banded high pull, and if it’s getting the weight off the floor work on your deadlift or banded deadlift. Most young athletes just need to work on their technique though. Really work on technique and if it’s good and still not progressing, use the strategies listed above.
