    There's 3 directional pulleys mounted on the front of that cover. Of the 3 bolts that hold them on, 2 bolts are longer and one is shorter. When reassembly is taking place. DO NOT use a long bolt in the hole intended for the short one, because it will surely pop the backside of the bolt hole out and leave a hole. Then it won't ever be found unless you have to remove the cover again for some reason.

    When opening engine I wash it off first, less chance of dirt getting in it. Disassemble is much cleaner too. For you glove boys.

    This works for my 1997 4.6 F150. I had to pull the cover because of material in the oil take up port.

    Thanks. I feel some better. I had a similar noise on my 20 GT. After two weeks at the dealership, and replacement of pulleys, water pump, etc., the service tech said that it was two tensioners. Hopefully, that’s the only internal issue. They also had to replace the active grille shutters. Regardless of the repair, I’m still bothered by having these issues on a car that I’ve had only 15 months. Keeping hope alive!

    You didn’t have to drop the pan. Just loosen the 4 bolts that go to the timing cover. Then the oil pan gasket won’t get stuck to the timing cover.

    Good video. At least the plastic guides are not broken. I have had engines that they broke to pieces, and had to drop oil pan. If the tensioner looks like that you have metal in the pan.

    I’m concerned about my 20 GT’s need for new timing chain tensioners at 20k. Why did they fail? Wouldn’t Replacement without diagnosis of the cause of failure and its resolve just be cyclic with the risk of greater damage? Did I simply get a lemon coyote that will need the same repair just after the warranty expires, and then at my expense? I will pick up my car later today from the dealership, and drive away with a “?” on my mind.😩

    How do you get the crank that dampener off on a two valve automatic I subscribed to your channel and I got a 2001 mustang GT automatic and I have a vow on head gasket problem change the head gasket but the crank that but I can't loosen it up I put it in gear into drive but it's still spinning kind of clockwise as I try to break the bolt

  • @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    @dannyjohnsonsgarage

    Is the belt still on? It will help with the belt keeping it from moving. On an automatic the crank will still spin when it’s in park. You can try putting a rag in front of one of the pulleys so it would stop the belt from moving as it gets stuck. Or if you can get an impact gun that can’t take the bolt out with quick impacts

    I removed the front ones completely and loosened the rears only to drop it down 1/2 inch or so. This helps separate the oil pan gasket rather than drag the cover off the front.
