Ahh - worst parent ever- only nine years in jail 😑 - give her more .... 😢poor child
It was dumb for him to get up there and have zero control over his anger
If that woman almost killed her son (with sugar) before this happened to her daughter, she wasn't just negligent, she knew what she was doing! She shouldn't even have had custody of her daughter or at the very least they should have kept an eye on her.
My stepsons mom let my stepson drink soda all the time and it rotted 80% of his teeth by the time he was 4. Custody court could have cared less.

It's not just the sugar that destroys the teeth, it's the acidity also.
I don’t understand why any mother would give a minor soft drink DAILY period? 🤦♀️ What was she thinking about?

I was born and raised in KY. In certain areas, especially Appalachia, there’s a condition colloquially called “Dew Rot” or “Mountain Dew mouth” from mothers putting Mt Dew and other soft drinks into sippy cups for their kids. The sugar and carbonation rot out the kids teeth. My dentist was actually the first person to ever tell me about it. It’s just awful. I can’t imagine letting a child live like that.

I think she gives her children the same things she eats. She doesn't seem to get the concept of health at all.
It's unbelievable that he shed tears after being found guilty of double homicide. It’s clear he’s never faced real consequences before. The audacity to cry after committing such heinous acts shows a disturbing lack of remorse and understanding of the gravity of his crimes.
The state of this country......
They should ban all soda from being able to use with the EBT food stamp cards. Honestly this is such a huge problem! This should be crime too! Why are they trying to "feed" families but yet they're improving complete garbage!

Absolutely! Soda is not food. Also, doesn't Mountain Dew have a bunch of caffeine in it? It seems like the worst possible choice from the perspective of her own convenience. The child would have been bouncing off the walls. Poor baby.
Josh, I always watch your videos, but I must say, I throughly enjoyed your detailed yet concise opening about evidence in this video! You should do more case related explanations like this! Fantastic!

Wow. A "mother" sentenced in the death of her daughter after bottle feeding the girl a diet of Mountain Dew. Jesus fucking Christ man. I don't even know how to react to this.
I feel like people who feed their babies unhealthy and dangerous food is out of laziness, (My ex sis in law did the same with her 1yr old but with coke soda with Tylenol, would add it to his bottle and leave to the bars at nite)..so negligence would fit the punishment unless there’s proof the parent intended to murder their child, either way is so so sad,😢the pure innocent child probably suffer from tooth decay and headaches with all the sugar in that drink. RIP baby girl!❤😔
4:42 That's why I don't understand how they can't get enough circumstantial evidence to convict the parents for Sebastian Rogers' disappearance!!!!!
Always a great show Josh particularly with your guests. But this episode was so great because you taught us a little bit more about the ins and outs of the courtroom. I am immediately signed up for courtroom confidential can’t wait.

Ooh, cool! Will check out Courtroom Confidential. Great show today! That poor kid who was fed Mountain Dew all day. 😢 Hope the mom gets some well needed help.
Mom clearly couldn't spare any food for her daughter. Sometimes you can judge a book by the very large cover.
You would be shocked to see the diets of the pediatric population. It’s insane and yet, parents seem accountable to no one. Rarely, if ever are parents confronted or educated about the importance of adequate nutrition.
I had a previous friend who gave her kids sugary drinks where I didn't even have soft drinks in my fridge. Our son didn't have any cavities hers had several.

That "mother" was obviously not subsisting on Mountain Dew. She was eating VERY well while her child starved. What the hell is wrong with people.
That Mountain Dew story is another level 14:11 Mom Looks like the twin sister of Honey Boo Boo
Oh that’s so sad. 😮😭🥺
Your explanation of the difference between direct and circumstantial evidence was sensational! I appreciate how you provided various examples of the concepts and terms you talk about throughout, as it assisted in understanding. You’ve got some chill professor vibes!

If it’s legally neglect it’s legally abuse always.
This is a great video, should go solo often!
I had a friend in high school whose parents had to sell their Mountain Dew they had because they couldn't get their daughter to stop drinking it. Plus, I have heard the doctors say, that Mountain Dew isn't good for anyone. weather that's true or not I don't know. What I do know is you never give a child Mountain Dew, Pepsi any of that kind of stuff.
What I found interesting was for all the reasons you listed the possible causes of these type of prosecutions, you mentioned a prosecutor may want to take that plea in order to assure a prosecution, how often is that taken in consideration not so much for justice, but more so because the prosecutor gets to take it as a win rather than taking the chance of a loss regarding their own scorecard and career?? 🤷♂️
You would think for the kiddo that if you had another kiddo with diabetes to seek help. I also do agree the man had so many times to cool down and and such sucks that it happened but we all need to give ourselves a chamce to go to back to baseline and just chill for a second and be like is this worth it? No the answer is always no.
Looks like the mom kept all the food for herself. Also, why is a 4 year old still using a bottle?
I bet he thought after 10 years he was clear nah we are in the age of Aquarius all will be revealed.

Re: Mtn Dew... When I was in high school in the late nineties people believed that mountain dew, if guys drank enough of it, it would make them sterile (and by 'enough of it' I mean like they had to be drinking it regularly up until high school and then if they drank at least a case or so every week on top of what they already drank on a regular basis that it would be enough to be effective.) It just sounded ridiculous and I can't believe some of my classmates believed it, but they did, so much so that there's probably at least a dozen 20somethings out there to attest to this.

A Conviction based on Circumstantial Evidence is dependent upon that any given Jury. Even Eyewitness Testimony is dependent on Effectiveness of Defence Counsel.
Too bad the TN Judge didn't allow his current charges. He hasn't really allowed much in as far as the state is concerned. No testimony about Karen's fear of the defendant. But all of the victim blaming galore can come in. So unfortunate that the jury will not have much to go on. Especially since they are SUPPOSED to be the finder of facts.
Circumstantial evidence _IS_ weaker, by your own admission then, lol.
Great hair

I'm hearing more disturbing child abuse and neglect cases involving medical professionals ignoring or not recognizing obvious signs... WTH is going on in the medical schools, or our physicians becoming increasingly lazy or ignorant? Is it the textbooks or lack of crucial experience. What is going on?!
1:19 👀 those crazy eyes are physical proof
IDK? Are we sure that heavy-set mother knew any better? I mean maybe she was raised exactly the same way? Oh man, I'd have taken that little girl in in a heartbeat, but looking at her surroundings in the photos, there doesn't appear to be a terrible case of neglect, unless I'm missing something. I just don't think she had any clue that this could cause death to her daughter.
How tf is rain indirect evidence bruh
"Subsisting" was definitely not the word you were seeking. Try "consisting" next time. It has a completely different meaning.
Every now and then it sounds like he’s drunk. For instances on the first story…”protestsecurers” ?? 😳 speech defect? Also though he corrected it, “his second wise”
Mountain Dew wtf man
Why no captions? 😩 Please do better
That man should not be allowed out of jail ever killing his wife and her friend. His crying he was at right and just expecting all should feel sorry for him is irrational. Yes he is narrcisistic. And that does not make you better than anyone. His was absolutely not a heat of passion definitely. He did indeed set himself up to catch her in the act to get that priveledge... I do not understand how nobody that knew that mother did not try to intervene. And yes a very tragic case. hear all angles. Thanks Joshua.

This guy really isn’t very bright!! “He’s got a wet coat, that’s direct evidence he’s holding an umbrella, that’s direct evidence, he’s wearing a raincoat, that’s direct evidence” double dipping? 🤦♂️
What a horrid mother. Mountain Dew shouldnt be consumed to anyone, much less a child. BTW, this story was in the title but it took you 14 minutes to get to it. You should've led with it. I've already heard the previous stories. 😢
It's ALWAYS someone who can go without eating, who is starving someone, God bless her soul 🙏🏼😇🫶🏼💕🕊️💐💓

It reminds me of honey booboo go gogo juice - redbull and mountain dew mix - lucky her child did not die too. Ahh its the worst. -
In her defense it looks like the mother was on the mountain dew diet herself.

OMG!!!! I thought the mountain dew story was going to be about a teenage girl who put herself on a mountain dew diet! Not a mother feeding her 4 year old mountain dew!!! OMG!!!!! PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID!!!!!!
Should have gone with diet, I guess.
What a beautiful little angel. It's heartbreaking that she was given to such an evil creature... THIS MOTHER WILL FACE JUSTICE BEYOND THIS LIFE.
If I were you, I would dye my hair, at least, partially. You would look much better...😊
You married a wrong wife, she’s a cheater. She’s a dishonest wife.
There are a lot of people in this world who are not smart and lack common sense. It doesn't surprise me that someone would think you could mix a little formula in a soda and that would be enough to sustain a child. Poor people often have no access to doctors, dentists, and even education, so i would need to know if she was rejecting nutritional advice or never received any.
