If that woman almost killed her son (with sugar) before this happened to her daughter, she wasn't just negligent, she knew what she was doing! She shouldn't even have had custody of her daughter or at the very least they should have kept an eye on her.

I was born and raised in KY. In certain areas, especially Appalachia, there’s a condition colloquially called “Dew Rot” or “Mountain Dew mouth” from mothers putting Mt Dew and other soft drinks into sippy cups for their kids. The sugar and carbonation rot out the kids teeth. My dentist was actually the first person to ever tell me about it. It’s just awful. I can’t imagine letting a child live like that.

I feel like people who feed their babies unhealthy and dangerous food is out of laziness, (My ex sis in law did the same with her 1yr old but with coke soda with Tylenol, would add it to his bottle and leave to the bars at nite)..so negligence would fit the punishment unless there’s proof the parent intended to murder their child, either way is so so sad,😢the pure innocent child probably suffer from tooth decay and headaches with all the sugar in that drink. RIP baby girl!❤😔

Plus, I have heard the doctors say, that Mountain Dew isn't good for anyone. weather that's true or not I don't know. What I do know is you never give a child Mountain Dew, Pepsi any of that kind of stuff.

What I found interesting was for all the reasons you listed the possible causes of these type of prosecutions, you mentioned a prosecutor may want to take that plea in order to assure a prosecution, how often is that taken in consideration not so much for justice, but more so because the prosecutor gets to take it as a win rather than taking the chance of a loss regarding their own scorecard and career?? 🤷‍♂️

No the answer is always no.

Re: Mtn Dew... When I was in high school in the late nineties people believed that mountain dew, if guys drank enough of it, it would make them sterile (and by 'enough of it' I mean like they had to be drinking it regularly up until high school and then if they drank at least a case or so every week on top of what they already drank on a regular basis that it would be enough to be effective.) It just sounded ridiculous and I can't believe some of my classmates believed it, but they did, so much so that there's probably at least a dozen 20somethings out there to attest to this.

Too bad the TN Judge didn't allow his current charges. He hasn't really allowed much in as far as the state is concerned. No testimony about Karen's fear of the defendant. But all of the victim blaming galore can come in. So unfortunate that the jury will not have much to go on. Especially since they are SUPPOSED to be the finder of facts.

Oh man, I'd have taken that little girl in in a heartbeat, but looking at her surroundings in the photos, there doesn't appear to be a terrible case of neglect, unless I'm missing something. I just don't think she had any clue that this could cause death to her daughter.

That man should not be allowed out of jail ever killing his wife and her friend. His crying he was at right and just expecting all should feel sorry for him is irrational. Yes he is narrcisistic. And that does not make you better than anyone. His was absolutely not a heat of passion definitely. He did indeed set himself up to catch her in the act to get that priveledge... I do not understand how nobody that knew that mother did not try to intervene. And yes a very tragic case. hear all angles. Thanks Joshua.

It doesn't surprise me that someone would think you could mix a little formula in a soda and that would be enough to sustain a child.
