I'm next door in Wyoming and I almost stepped on a prairie rattler, probably within 3 or 4 inches, and I was wearing only flip flops. He could have easily tagged me a good one... but he didn't. He didn't even rattle, just gave a hiss at which point I jumped about 4 feet in the other direction. I thanked him for not biting me and let him go on his way. I don't shoot prairie rattlers anymore, I figure they're just helping out by taking out some of those prairie rats which I approve of.

That's a good snake after you shot it I hate them bastards. Got bit by Copperhead in the leg about 12 years ago.

We have prairie rattler’s in Oklahoma also.

I like number eight shot in my reloads for snakes

7.5 all the way to 12 shot, seems to all work well.

Do you load your own snake shot? I’m loading up a few today just in case I run upon some of those sneaky copperheads we have around here.

Would make a nice belt if it's long enough. Last one I shot was with a 16 ga. Worked fine. Lol

I have, got to be a little bigger to make it worth while.

Bird shot in a 38-357, 9mm and up isn't the same as a 22lr, even though the 22lr is still effective at close range! I wouldn't pass by that thing either, I wouldn't look for them but anything that will still bite after it's dead isn't one of Gods creatures in my opinion.

Midway got them in yesterday 5/13.

I got some for my 29 .44

I live here in Oklahoma have all my life biggest snake I’ve ever seen spanned across a entire black top road (old road maybe to pickups wide) ran it over twice with my pickup and it didn’t care acted like nothing happed from that point on I carry a .410 or 20 gauge in the truck

Because its a lot cheaper than the helicopter ride to the hospital in that open country if you make it there alive. Then there is the cost of the anti venom compared to dollar of snake shot .
